Super helpful. Thanks for this very clear guide on cleaning the Eureka Mignon Specialita. It took me an hour but now I have a functioning grinder again.
This is the best video ever on how to clean the grinder, I have the same grinder and I already opened it and cleaned it and I know how important it is to open it and clean it all thanks to u
That's a great use for an old stereo receiver 👊 I appreciated the thorough cleaning. I've never gone so far as to fully remove the burr screws for routine cleaning.
Excellent video again. Only thing I would add that might be worth considering is to use a dry marker to mark components that can be refitted in a different orientation such as the burrs. This would remove any possible errors with burr alignment etc. 👍
Thanks for all your videos Tom, I've been binging a number of them over the past couple of days. Really helpful and useful stuff. Especially the dedica video's, been looking at mods for that for a while so its been nice to see videos of someone actually doing it.
Thanks so much for this. It was very well explained. I have this exact brand of grinder and it stopped grinding after 7 months. The company in Italy was very slow to respond but eventually after several attempts over a period of 2 weeks someone finally replied and suggested I clean the burrs. I used your video as a guide and it seems to have fixed the problem. I was afraid I was going to have to ship the grinder back to Italy for repair under warranty.
I'd like to add something that wasn't mentioned. i went through the entire process and my machine kept having immediate problems. it would seem obvious but make sure you check the channel where the beans exit into the cup. mine was backed up and i didn't know it. i cleaned it, exactly like you did in the video, but the machine kept shutting off until i thoroughly cleaned that output tunnel.
Thank you for this wonderful video. My specialita wouldnt grind out of a sudden and I followed every step to clean the grinder. It was really dirty but I managed to clean everything out. However, in the end, there's power in the machine but it still wouldnt grind. One thing I noticed in your video @ 3:08min is that your lower burr and brass collar are free to spin (hence u used a wrench). However, my lower burr is not moving and similarly the brass collar is also not moving. Would that be the reason why it is not grinding ? any idea how we can clean this out ? Thanks in advance
Clive coffee has a couple of pages on how to clean mignon grinders. It includes taking the chute plate off the front so you can get something under the bottom burr plate to clean it underneath it. That’s probably what your problem is. Good luck!
So when I do a huge adjustment I don't need to insert coffee beans and turn on the grinder, I could turn on the grinder without putting any bins in and still not gonna hurt the Burrs?
Must admit, as I use a custom single-dose hopper with a blower-bulb that blows out the last of the grind, I haven't opened my MS for over 4 years... but today it seemed to be grinding with nothing coming out? Then slowed to a stop, with the timer still counting down. So now I know where the screw is hiding I'll take it apart! Wish me luck...
Pro-tip, before taking it apart, use a whiteboard marker to show exactly how it was together. I had a terrible grind when I put it together, until I rotated the bottom burr. Had I marked it's position I'd have saved myself an afternoon of head-scratching and messing around.
Hello, after having separated the teeth from their bases, would it not be necessary to realign them, as they may be slightly misaligned and cause inconsistencies? Regards

One thing about oils is that after the early rancid stage of oxidation they produce many chemicals, including tars and waxes that soap does not remove. Also, if you remove the oils with soap and leave a bit of soap residue behind, it will combine with oils to form a grease that can oxidize to something resembling polyurethane paint. You need to clean until all the oil is removed and then make sure that all the soap is rinsed away. Failure to do this with a non-stick pan can ruin it, and failure to do this on steel can leave a residue that requires very harsh chemicals and mild abrasives to remove, like Barman's Friend. All of this chemistry is the basis of the art of French polishing with walnut oil.
Thanks for that good information, Tom! I read the directions, and they say you can use a neutral cleaner - whatever that means. I just wiped the oils off of mine, and brushed the coffee grounds off with a brush, then polished a bit with a rag. Cheers!
Any easy way to properly set the 'true' zero point of these grinders, short of ordering an aftermarket grind / dial knob that goes on top of the existing one?
i have read that dark roast and/or humidity create repeated clogging that prevents either finer grinding or operation of the machine. Would this cleaning alleviate that ? Does this machine have a feature or design that causes frequent clogging with dark ( oilier ) beans ? Very helpful video, thank you.
Hi mate. Great video, love the content. But could you please advise what drillbit you use yo unscrew top plate. It is very difficult to get them off. What size input

Hi. I have a Eureka Oro Single Dose grinder. Not the same model as you have but similar. I removed the screw that tightens the hopper. After cleaning, I couldn’t tighten the screw again. It’s very loose. Any idea? I checked that I didn’t drop any parts. Thanks.
I had the same issue. Did you solve your problem? Also my grinder was very hot after a few uses. Does anyone have the same issue. I am using the manuale/notte.
Hi Tom, I have a question for you. I have an eureka filtro grinder (very similar than yours) and I have cleaned and changing the burrs , but I am still having an inconsistent grind size. Have you experience a problem with the grind size? Or do you know Why the grind size of my Eureka Filtro is inconsistent? Thank you
Hi Daniel! Are you using the Filtro for espresso or coffee? It was designed for brew coffee, so I am not sure if the burrs it comes with will work so well for espresso.
can I please ask you what is you touching point and what number is you espresso range? I found out my espresso range is about 1 number from touching point. for example touching is 0 and espresso somewhere to 1. is that normal? Thanks!
Well if you let the burrs abut for too long, you will put a strain on the motor, and it may overheat. But touching for a moment will not hurt anything.
Servus Georg! Well, in my 3 years of having it, it has only ever clogged once, because I accidentally put wet beans in. Are your beans by chance too oily, or maybe damp?
i just got this grinder and it stopped working after 2 days. Unclogged the shute, and cleaned the burrs. Now when i add even a few beans it stops working completely. Any ideas?
I just got mine and when I single dose I hear subtle rattling sound, maybe there’s coffee stuck under the bottom carrier! I don’t know if this is normal.
When I was working out my zero point, you can actually remove the hopper and just spin the top burr with your finger. Same outcome, without any potential of damage from running the burrs at a high speed whilst touching.
I got a reply from Eureka. Dear Alejsndro, The label is a reference that should not be taken as a standard. In fact, it is attached manually, so the value of the zero point of the burrs will differ from model to model. Instead, I advise you to find your own zero point and take the reference number as the value to consider. Furthermore, it would be useless to consider the zero point corresponding to the zero on the label as this value changes slightly with the wear of the burrs.
Just return it and get a hand grinder. Absolute bullshit that you have to put so much effort with an electrical grinder. It should be as casual as possible. More effort than even a hand grinder at 10x the price.
