Brass Band on St Cecilia Day At Our Lady Of Merces Church, Merces

Nearly 60 plus years past the since the tradition of Brass Band performed on November 22nd on the feast day of St. Cicilia. It includes blowing instruments and percussion instruments in a variety. This year too we remembered the day was kept although the Feast is not been celebrated this year as it was the Solemnity of Christ the King. However, the day was been observed by nearly more than 40 musicians young and old, men and women playing the instruments at their heart content. It started with music played before Eucharistic Celebration followed by the Holy Mass Celebrated by Fr. Leslie Bosco Rego and Concelebrated by Fr. Cyril Rodrigues and Fr. Pedro Miranda. After the Eucharistic Celebration the Musicians played their Music for the Glory of God for Christ the King. The Pandemic did not deter the musicians to gather together from different parts of Goa in Our Lady of Merces Church, Merces. It is noted that only in Merces this day is been observed whereby all musicians come together, much of the credit goes to Francisco Azavedo popularly known as Putush.
