    Hi Julie great to see mum an son inland working and your daughter coming out to lend a hand . That flashing and framework looks great and finally the big vent gets done it's been a long time coming for that vent to be done great video

    The flashing should be put under the house wrap. Water will run under it the way you have it installed. Hurry and get some joint tape and put it on top edge of flashing before Marty gets home.

  • @GoodwillCriminalsOfDallas
    @GoodwillCriminalsOfDallas Месяц назад +2

    Cutting it on a 45 on the corners would have meant zero gaps. Get a Kreg jig and you can put the screws in on the backside of the frame and build the frame as a whole unit. It would then be attached to the back of the vent as you did. I would have painted the back of the frame as well. Small amount of extra work for longer-term protection as a result.

    Check out the expiration dates on the bottom of the tube
    I would put on the flashing before the deck went on. The water will run out to the floor joist and be a problem for the deck

    The flashing does behind the house wrap and needs the same butel tape as around the door along the top seam.
    All bottom seams need to be left open for water that does get in to be able to get out.
    The way you’re doing it is going to collect water like crazy and rot the osb.

    Sarah, that bread looked yummy. I would suggest you get Pullman bread pans, this made huge difference in my bread. Also make sure you use bread flour not all purpose, this really helped with the crumb of my loafs. And a good recipe for soft bread that lasts for more than a couple of days is the Texas Roadhouse rolls, the one that uses honey rather than sugar.

    If there isn't any shade, you create your own shade; it is too hot for your area of the US, and you need a riding lawnmower or buy a mower attachment for your tractor. It is always a pleasure to see what is going on with your projects.

    To change the blade on your mower, you can lay it on its side with the spark plug to the top. Just don't leave it there for more than 10 minutes.

    Flashing should only be fastened to either the wall OR the deck....if it is fastened with screws to both wall and deck, it cannot move when the deck shifts with expansion/ contraction, and thin flashing will eventually tear, usually at the bend. Best to use a flexible sealant on the wall, since you have to fasten deck boards on the deck.. Caulk shouldn't be stockpiled, it has an expiration date, and even if it hasn't hardened and comes out of the tube ok, most times it will not cure and stays sticky.

    Does your caulk gun not have a poke stick near the tip? It should. A small screwdriver would do the trick too. Zip tape the flashing instead of nailing if at all possible....

    If the Shade won't come to us, then the Tent will bring the shade to where we want it??
    Meaning:
    If things aren't going our way then we'll have to adjust to the way they are..
    Better yet, if we can introduce an outside factor to equation, and make things work the way we want.

    I would have purchased a flat piece of flashing with a thicker gauge. Also would wear gloves due to that stuff can easily cut you. An 8' piece of flashing just to go under the sliding glass door with an edge on it would have been easier, but I guess folding it over might work, but that gauge metal looks pretty flimsy. Your concept of putting the flashing between two boards and then using another piece of board to hammer the edge will work to get a straight bend. Obviously you did not research how to do flashing before attacking this project. I get irritated with DIY work where people learn as they go. I'm more of a learn up front to get the basics down and then obviously as you go you may learn more or you may luck out and everything works as you expected based on your prior research.
