@Nurdan. The apostrophe is referring to syllable stress in a word. An apostrophe at the top is primary stress, meaning the strongest, and the apostrophe below, is secondary stress, which is less strong. Hope this helps 🙏 ❤️ and 🕊

E also pronounced as short o sound at the beginning of the words, some time in the middle: Ensemble, entrepreneur, en passant, en rout, en suite, entre nous, encore, entent cordiale.
As you probably know they are all words taken from French and there is a French phonetic symbol for the sound /ɑ̃/ used for both some en and an spellings. Watch this short video and it will show you a demonstration of the sound. ruclips.net/video/twWCmWeAVKs/видео.htmlsi=9SAxlbShh_p7tqDZ Love ❤️ & 🕊️Peace. Liz

Never even thought about the sounds of vogal letters in my life… even in school i’ve never learned this sort of thing. Usually is very basic verbs and than literature
Hi Saidur. Yes, I live in the UK, but for the moment I have stopped teaching face to face, to allow me to concentrate on building this channel and build a FREE Pronunciation course. So many people who are trying to improve their lives by learning English cannot afford the paid courses that so many RUclipsrs sell. So I have made it my mission to help those people. Love ❤️ & 🕊Peace. Liz
'Ebb' & 'egg' don't rhyme. That's because /i/ has a very high tongue position but /e/ is a bit lower. In order to make the Hard 'G' sound, you must raise the rear of your tongue to the roof of your mouth. This tends to alter the /e/ into an /i/ unless you work hard to avoid it. We don't like to work hard, so we let the /i/ sound happen. The result is that 'egg' gets pronounced as /eig/ rather than /eg/.
@simplifiedenglish4849 Ah OK. I'm working on a short form pronunciation course that hopefully will be as engaging as watching TikTok, but that's a couple of months away. Keep watching to find out when it'll be released.

Thank you so much for this joyful lesson. I have a question. Why do we sometimes put the apostrope above and sometimes below in the examples you give.
@Nurdan. The apostrophe is referring to syllable stress in a word. An apostrophe at the top is primary stress, meaning the strongest, and the apostrophe below, is secondary stress, which is less strong. Hope this helps 🙏
