My dear, I hope you are well when you receive this letter. I hope this letter has not caused you any inconvenience. I'm DYU Lisa and I noticed that we haven't seen you post related video content since receiving the e-bike. I am very concerned that there may be some difficulty or problem hindering your creative process. I sincerely hope to hear from you and understand your current situation. If there is any problem, no matter how big or small, I would like to help you in any way I can. Your silence makes me uneasy, and if no new content is posted, I will face severe punishment from the company. I chose to work with you because of the trust I have in you and your huge fan base. I didn't ask for a formal contract because I trust your integrity and professionalism. However, if the agreement cannot be fulfilled, I will have to pay a fine equivalent to 50% of the value of the bike to the company, which is a huge burden for me, probably equivalent to one month of my salary. I am a single mother raising three children on my own. Every day, I try my best to work so that they can have a better life. They're everything to me. They're what keeps me going. However, the weight of life weighed me down, and I feared that my inadequacy would cause them to suffer. I sincerely ask for your help because I don't want my children to go hungry or out of school because of my plight. Your support means the world to us. Therefore, I hereby implore you to complete our cooperation. This is very important to me because if our cooperation does not go smoothly, I may face penalties from the company. I understand that everyone faces challenges, and I just hope we can get through this together. Please be assured that I am here to support you, look forward to your response, and hope that we can resolve this issue soon. Sincerely, Lisa
I have just bought a 2020 1.8 with 20k. I keep hearing this sort of thing, it's such a shame it is a lovely car. What mileage would your friends offload it at ? don't say 20k !
If someone shows interest, sit them down with a coffee and show them the video. Limit their mileage for the first six months to, say, 100. Pull down the shutters and tell everyone to come back in September. Tell the locals 'you aint seen me right' Change your name and have work done. I think if you do these things you should be safe from the revenge of the RANGE ROVER
A friend of mine has a 2.0 Ingenium Discovery Sport. It recently had the engine commit suicide at just under 100k miles, during the new £10k engine being put it it was discovered the blown engine was actually the car's second engine, no idea though when the original engine failed, he got it at 70k miles if I remember right so it can't have been particularly high mileage.
A garage next to my workshop specialises in RRover and Discos newer older smashed up he modifies them as well as general repairs he's got a yard full of them. He always tells me if you buy the 2 litre don't expect it to not last very long after it's done 60000 miles.
Seems to me if you buy a modern car, do extra oil changes. Follow service schedule but sneak in extra oil changes. Never gone over 6k on any car, oil is cheap.
Ridiculous. At 6k oil is golden like new. Castrol or Shell fully synthetic is designed to offer 100% protection to 12.5k so you're wasting money and the environment to maintain misplaced beliefs.
Worked at JLR when they changed over to the Ingenium engine. It was an absolute disaster from the start. They basically broke all the rules and instead of modifying an existing engine they decided to build a brand new engine from scratch. It basically pissed out oil from every orifice. The best bit though was that they decided to do away with a woodruff key and just used thread lock to attach the sprockets. That worked fine until they had an agency worker at the Engine management Centre in Wolverhampton who forgot to apply the thread lock. That lasted for months and they ended up with tens of thousands of engines that fail when the sprockets become detached from the camshafts and destroyed the engine. It come be worse it could be a Disco Sport from that era when they used the wrong windscreen sealant. That results in huge leaks from the top of the windscreen. The 2.2 is a ford engine far more reliable but not refined enough for a vehicle of that class.
Were there any upgrades in the meantime with the engine? I read they tried to improve quality control and improve other things. The basic design, though, remains the same. I would like to know more about it because I own one (2022 model) and will most likely be upgrading bits of it to make it last longer. Every bit of information helps immensely!
The timing chain kit was the main improvement starting around 2020 or so. They modified the sprockets so that the chain would not slack as fast. Main thing is to do regular oil changes, every 6-8.000 miles. I'm still reading and learning about these engines, i do not own/work on them

I would avoid JLR products like the plague. I have a 2018 Jaguar XF25. 2.0 DIESEL with an Ingenium engine. It only lasted until 66k miles and then needed replaced. List price for the replacement engine fitted at JLR main dealer was £14000. I replaced that and a few months later tried trading it at a Mercedes main dealer. They offered less than Webuyanycar for it and that just about sums them up.
Despite all the horror stories, I had a 2016 Disco Sport for years, did 70k miles and it didn't miss a beat. I'd be happy to buy one these days but would try to find one that has had a new timing chain

If the Ingenium engine is so bad how come JLR have literally sold 10s of millions of them world wide it's the classic case of "well I've got a mate who said blah blah blah" worst case scenario if the chain does stretch and start to rattle on start up get it replaced, I currently have a Jaguar XF portfolio 2.0d on 85k and its a fantastic car easily returning 40+ mpg urban and 65+mpg motorway so can't be that bad. A fair few comment along the lines off “hope you have good breakdown”. Others who have actually had JLR products swear by them. It seems to be those who have never owned one that diss them. I nearly got an Evoke a few years back but ended up with a 2018 Kuga Vignale. Gas one car especially in the Pearl White with 19 inch Chrome Alloys). Wish I had bought one now cos I still like the look of them.
My mate bought a brand new land rover, after 3 years and 20k the rear coolant pipes rusted and coolant blew out, if he'd have been on the motorway it would have overheated.
"My Ignium engine's been fine for over 60,000 miles. I change the oil every 5k, baby it from start-up, don't use it for short trips, use only the finest diesel, never take it over 4000 rpm......." 🙃
I considered a Jaguar XF diesel Ingenium a couple of years back -seemed to have lot going for it on paper! From what I've learned about these engines since then I think I may have dodged a bullet. There is a a YT channel "JR Vehicle Services" who are a garage in Kent (friends of SRUK Chris and Rob) who specialise in timing chain replacements on Ingenium diesels - they seem to do quite a few. They have produced some interesting videos on the problems with Ingenium - quite technical but some good insights. Their view is that a lot of diesel Evoques are used wrongly as school run and shopping cars when they would be better suited to long distance motorway runs.
i owned a Land Rover garage for 12 years and NEVER saw an Ingenium with more than 60k on its original engine. Evoques have a very bad knock sensor issues that can't be fixed
The Evoque with the eight speed ZF and the eco boost is much more reliable, and generally reliable if maintained well, five or 6000 mile oil changes, injector, cleaning, etc. correct? The problem with the eco-boost engines is that people don’t maintain them because they are cheap cars to begin with, but I have read on the forums that those who take care of their car and don’t go over like 7000 miles per oil change quite reliable. I had an XF 2.0t 2013 as a lease, and it was perfect, but it was under of course
i was interested in buying one for my wife until RAC patrol man told me last summer that they have couple of their employees working full time at the LR factory replacing timimg chains and sorting out steering rack problems. he also mentioned that many have leaking windsreens , all of which cost an arm , leg and shirt off your back if you have to pay for yourself.
I really don't believe that.. Same level as " my mate in a pub .." Why would a factory producing new cars have any kind of area daling with second-hand cars ?
@@derekallen3979 what u believe is none of my business. The RAC gentleman had relayed our daughters car home , and I asked him out of interest for his professional opinion on the model. I had no reason to think he would lie to me. They were employed fixing cars that had failed under oem warranty
AND you believe that ??? that jl factory employs rac mechanics FULLtime to do work for them ???? m8 and to think that once upon a time you was the fastest swimmer, what happend ????????????????????????
Your comments about modern auto gearboxes is spot on untill a week ago I would have not gone near one as I had experience of auto boxes in 1980s car but after buying a Alfa Guilia I'm converted not going back to a manual 😁
You have bought a 2.0d ingeniboom 💥 Mileage descepancy could be of it’s had an engine change under warranty and confusion from that. Most of these have had a least one engine some 2, 3 or 4 😂
The Ingeniums are a bit flaky, the most important thing is to change the Oil very regularly on them. Every 6000miles would be wise. Joe service it before you sell it to minimise the risk.
‘Modern cars are built to last’ ‘Modern engines are better designed and built as to easily achieve over 100000mls’ New 2016 price of upwards of £40k should and normally would of given a buyer a certain added confidence. Nice one JLR for destroying the myth.
My wife bought z 2018 240 blp hse , its never let her down . We nearly part ex it for a ipace but the jag sales rep bsver hot vack to us zbout the one we were interested in .... thank god , shes keeping the evoque
Have a jaguar F Pace with the 2 liter. Really love the car. But I had to do the timing chain just now. Pretty pricey. But it’s a known problem. The service intervalls are just too long. Love the car and now that the Maine thing is fixed. I wonder. Keep it or sell it.
Majority of people only state the bad, you don't get the many thousands who won't have had any issues. My Disco Sport needed a chain at 70k miles, friend of mine has one which has done well over 100k and never missed a beat. Chain aside and used correctly, e.g not for short runs, they're not actually a bad engine.
If I was buying a 2l ingenium engined LR, My first question would be” has it had the upgraded chains, idlers and guides and has it had the oil pump screen cleaned” otherwise walk away
Had one. Did 40,000 miles in 2 years. Never had a problem. The vast majority of problems with this engine are caused if they are only ever driven on short journeys.
Shocking reliability with modern cars, I have a trusty Mitsubishi Colt Ralliart 15 years old now, I have looked after it well and nothing goes wrong with it
Love the way you try to put a spin on it. I love manual cars but even I would only buy automatic on Mercedes and JLR . Definitely commend you on the transparency of cost
Trouble is auto buying at auction is risky as they only test them at walking pace, had a 3008 auto from auction, thought it was revving high at 60, it was missing the top 2 gears, 4000 rpm at 60.
I’ve heard the petrol 2.0L ingenium is a lot more reliable on the whole and doesn’t tend to suffer the level of catastrophic failures that the diesel is known for.
I have a 2017 Evoque with the 290HP engine. Biggest mistake I’ve ever made. Engine is fine. But, I’ve had endless issues since I bought it and it’s only done 21k!!
All vehicles from bca are a gamble but this engine and the eco boost is something i personally wouldn’t gamble on but if it goes wrong within 6 months the RUclips videos covering it will probably pay for the repairs and if not you will make good dollar on it. Win win for you either way 👌
These LR Ingenium engines are developing a ferocious reputation for failure. Makes the BMW timing chain issue pail into insignificance !!!! Regarding clocking, there used to be a car dealership in Fareham that had rows of clearly ex-lease company cars. They all had a little sticker on the mileometer saying 'the indicated mileage is not guaranteed' . All of the 3 year old cars had around 27k miles (yeah right). My mate bought a Cavalier Mk2 with 28K on the clock. I had a look in the oil filler cap and the cam cover box was just full of black gunge -- so no way this had done 28k !!!!!!!
Has it had the chains done? Thats the biggest issue with the ingenium. I had a 64 plate 4wd 2.2 Evoque Manual (2yrs old at the time) sadly biggest pile of poop ive ever owned. Had a horrendous clutch judder that took LR 3 months to fix, that was sorted then it started randomly going into limp mode, so gave up and sold it on.
If you listen to the engine and it's quiet it should be OK, service it with top oil and sell to someone who doesn't do much mileage, risky as your on the hook for 6 mths, yes all cars have problem but not many blow up, 1.6 diesel bmw, ecoboost, injenium engine are best avoided, I've had nasty failures on all, it's no fun blowing 2 to 3k on a car when it self distructs, a mini chain made a break for freedom thru top of the engine last year, blew 2 and half on it.
There are plenty about and it helps the shape hasn't changed much, so still a popular car. If it's been knocked about about a bit, prep costs can soon add up. Include a good third party warranty within the sale price and don't allow the customer to knock it off to reduce the price and all should be good.
@@ChrisPatrick-q6k It might be able eligible for the Protect Plus, if not then the Essential Warranty . RR Ewok's sell, and if you can buy them at the right price, you buy them because they make you a profit.
Jaguar F Pace with the ingenium engine. So far cost me around £9k in 12 months. New engine at 51k miles, just had a new turbo as it went bang. Turbo was not under the engine warranty??? How is it not part of the engine!!Add poor customer service ( didn’t even compensate for £1.1k in hire cars as they didn’t have curtsey cars I’m a very unhappy and poorer person
NOTICE how 99% of negative comments are from people whove never owned one just know someone whos had problems with one and 99% people that own onelike myself never had a problem , funny that ,strange . just like people STRANGE.
When those transverse ingenium engined Evoques and Disco Sports first came out, we were still in a previous phase of Government stupidity which was that diesels were the way to go to save the planet, hence the cheap road tax. Unfortunately many were mis-sold to school run customers who weren't told that diesels were not OK for that kind of use. Wasn't helped in those earlier models which had the DPF some distance from the engine. Result - excessive forced regens, oil dilution and consequent engine problems. Used and maintained properly they are economical and powerful engines. Worst case is new uprated timing chain. Retail about £1600 probably bit less for trade.
In this day and age ,way do engines seem to be getting worse, surely with technology and advances with materials they should make them more reliable and robust, or am i just naive or hopeful or as with everything, manufacturers cutting corners or scrimping to make a buck. Hear so much bad press about all the major manufacturers

There is one in Finland… 170 000 km without any problems.
'Working full time at the LR factory'.....red lights flashing right there.
AND you believe that ??? that jl factory employs rac mechanics FULLtime to do work for them ???? m8 and to think that once upon a time you was the fastest swimmer, what happend ????????????????????????
@@jagvolvo33 - oh yawn ;)
Your comments about modern auto gearboxes is spot on untill a week ago I would have not gone near one as I had experience of auto boxes in 1980s car but after buying a Alfa Guilia I'm converted not going back to a manual 😁
You have bought a 2.0d ingeniboom 💥
Mileage descepancy could be of it’s had an engine change under warranty and confusion from that. Most of these have had a least one engine some 2, 3 or 4 😂
I would say for the price you paid for it and your location is a winner
It will be fine Joe take care😊
The Ingeniums are a bit flaky, the most important thing is to change the Oil very regularly on them. Every 6000miles would be wise. Joe service it before you sell it to minimise the risk.
‘Modern cars are built to last’ ‘Modern engines are better designed and built as to easily achieve over 100000mls’
New 2016 price of upwards of £40k should and normally would of given a buyer a certain added confidence.
Nice one JLR for destroying the myth.
They hold the value better than most cars,so can’t be that bad buy
@healthiswealth6797 I’m looking to buy a 2020 Dynamic R SE and they are a fortune
The EVOQUE ed4 you listed is a 2WD hence the manual box and low trade price . It still has 150 bhp but was not popular when new.
If I was buying a 2l ingenium engined LR, My first question would be” has it had the upgraded chains, idlers and guides and has it had the oil pump screen cleaned” otherwise walk away
you can get the real milage very simply by hooking it up to a automotive diagnostic tool??
Had one. Did 40,000 miles in 2 years. Never had a problem. The vast majority of problems with this engine are caused if they are only ever driven on short journeys.
If an auto box goes it virtually writes the car off, where a manual is usually just a clutch.
No it doesn't, they are often repairable. And they are very reliable these days if Aisin/ZF etc.

My sister had one and it was an utter nightmare!
Not the best Evoque to retail surely with it being a Manual, no panroof , 2wd , base spec,
or am i missing something
Win win for you either way 👌
Well its certainly not an i10 as far as build quality goes but it is bigger!!! good luck Joe.
trouble with these is that they drive really really well , right up to the point when they dont.
Better fuel consumption and less maintenance. That’s why I chose manual over automatic
My dad bought one of these last year and its been a nightmare ever since
These LR Ingenium engines are developing a ferocious reputation for failure.
Just change cambelt and pulleys as that’s a weak point on the early engines. Then it’s a case of keep on top of servicing.
no cambelt on this it's a chain at the gearbox end of the engine
Sorry ment to say chain. After late 2019 they automatically fitted an upgraded one.
A lot of the problems are due to the ridiculous service intervals, service every 10 k max not 20k especially if doing short runs
Correct! People today think modern cars with tighter engineering tolerances can run several thousand miles/kms over the schedule. No way...not today.
Let's be honest Joe. Every single Land Rover or Jaguar vehicle that you have ever sold, has been a risk. Glad to see it's business as usual!😂
Vast majority dont have issues.
Need a auto on any land rover in fact most cars
If you listen to the engine and it's quiet it should be OK, service it with top oil and sell to someone who doesn't do much mileage, risky as your on the hook for 6 mths, yes all cars have problem but not many blow up, 1.6 diesel bmw, ecoboost, injenium engine are best avoided, I've had nasty failures on all, it's no fun blowing 2 to 3k on a car when it self distructs, a mini chain made a break for freedom thru top of the engine last year, blew 2 and half on it.
Is this ingenium engine problem just for the diesel engines, or are the 2.0 petrol as problematic?
Just the diesel (I believe, I'm no expert)
I guess if you like to gamble.. then fine. Otherwise not a chance
Good luck with the sale
It should be mandatory to enter mileage on V5's.
Anything to deter dodgy folk clocking can only be a good thing🤬
There are plenty about and it helps the shape hasn't changed much, so still a popular car. If it's been knocked about about a bit, prep costs can soon add up. Include a good third party warranty within the sale price and don't allow the customer to knock it off to reduce the price and all should be good.
Name a good third party warranty? Why buy into the BS Ignium crap in the first place, why not buy something better and save oneself the hassle?
@@ChrisPatrick-q6k It might be able eligible for the Protect Plus, if not then the Essential Warranty . RR Ewok's sell, and if you can buy them at the right price, you buy them because they make you a profit.
Worth the risk on this car. Get it out the door quick n cross your fingers.
Great video my engine went on a disco then same engine went on my mates jag xe same problem 😢
Iv a disco sport.just had timing chain done and gear box oil changed
Its a 2016 and runs lovely
it is illegal to have air fresheners or anything like dice and things in line of site.
Police are going to be busy enforcing that one!
Are the 3l diesels any better?
Nice spectacles :-)
Aw me gaud - a manual....Have to admit I have never owned a manual, nor would I ever buy one. ( had about 20 cars over the years ).
Jaguar F Pace with the ingenium engine. So far cost me around £9k in 12 months. New engine at 51k miles, just had a new turbo as it went bang. Turbo was not under the engine warranty??? How is it not part of the engine!!Add poor customer service ( didn’t even compensate for £1.1k in hire cars as they didn’t have curtsey cars I’m a very unhappy and poorer person
should have bought a kia
NOTICE how 99% of negative comments are from people whove never owned one just know someone whos had problems with one and 99% people that own onelike myself never had a problem , funny that ,strange . just like people STRANGE.
According to Dick Lovett, in a letter to myself as my 2020 E-Pace blow up at 37,800 miles - It’s all hear say. 😡😡😡
Mint vid👍🏻
change the oil and filters every six months
8Grand for a RR with 50k miles Wow!
Door locks have problems.
Jag land rover engines are rubbish. Variable build quality, and don’t start on the 3ltr diesel!
JLR is just a garbage brand, soon to be gone I'm sure.
ive heard that is the worst engine they have
Love your channel, please though get rid of air freshener over the rear view, was making me feel queasy.
aren't it mostly elderly people (60+) who's sceptical about automatics?
Great price it’s a Range Rover at the end of the day
He who dares, wins😅
Still plenty people that like a manual , you need to buy a proper Range Rover next 😊
Risk in any car, just go with the flow and see what happens👍🏻
Buy some ecoboosts instead and/or some scratchcards
2.2 puma the only engine
Nothing wrong with that. I like manual gearboxes .nice wee car.
In this day and age ,way do engines seem to be getting worse, surely with technology and advances with materials they should make them more reliable and robust, or am i just naive or hopeful or as with everything, manufacturers cutting corners or scrimping to make a buck.
Hear so much bad press about all the major manufacturers
Sell it as a trade sale for £11k

Will make a great car for towing a caravan. 👍
