    Roscoe, do you know how artists and companies handle 2 songs with the same title at the same time?-here Suga’s ‘’Snooze’, which I REALLY love, and a good song named ‘Snooze’ by Sza that’s currently sometimes played on the radio. Titles aren’t copyrighted, it seems…💜

    • @sortaamy3003
      @sortaamy3003 Год назад

      You can't copyright a word. There was a whole thing in the book world a few years back when an author tried to copyright a commonly used word, meaning every other author would have had to remove that word from their titles regardless of when they were written. It ended up being a big deal and in the end, she didn't get what she wanted.
      If Suga could copyright the word Snooze, every other author/songwriter would have to remove it from their songs/books/blogs etc from the beginning of writing. He would be forced to go after everyone who used it or he would lose the copyright. At least, in the US, that's how it works.
      So, no. Titles cannot be copy written but they can be trademarked which is a different beast altogether(it includes the font, stylization, etc).
      (To clarify: anything anyone writes is automatically copy written BUT I mean you can't sue someone else for using a single word, regardless of whether you used it or not. You can sue if they use more than a certain amount of words in the same order and claim it as their own or profit from it in some way. It's complicated.)
