Donkeys from now when we've all been relegated to the past tense there'll be heads listening to these songs, or variations of these interpretations, and feeling jealous of the lucky feckers who were there to see and hear them first. That's us, and I find that quite class. Cheers to Radie & ITMA 🍻
Thanks to everyone who tuned in last night, and shared your appreciation for Radie in our first Drawing from the Well Episode for 2021. We'd love you to stay on board for more in the series Drawing from the Well.
Hi Daniel, there is a blog to accompany Radie's performance giving background notes to her songs, including Young Girl Cut Down in her Prime. Hope you find this useful! (ITMA)
Wow, this is just great. I love Radie Peat, and your production makes it feel like we're just sitting right next to you chatting with a brilliant performer. Thanks.
This whole video is such gold, thank you Radie & thank you ITMA ❤️ where can I find the original lyrics of Young Girl Cut Down In Her Prime? I can't make out the start of the first verse that Radie sings. Massive appreciation for this program 🙏💚✨
Delighted you enjoyed Radie's episode of Drawing from the Well. This link brings you to the song on the Mainly Norfolk site - if you scroll to the bottom a variety of versions and words are given. Hope this does the trick and you are singing it soon. mainlynorfolk.info/shirley.collins/songs/younggirlcutdowninherprime.html
Its called Lizie Wan The heroine (called variously Lizie, Rosie or Lucy) is pregnant with her brother's child. Her brother murders her. He tries to pass off the blood as that of some animal he had killed (his greyhound, his falcon, his horse), but in the end must admit that he murdered her. He sets sail in a ship, never to return
5 min 40 secs, ‘the cutting of a rod’ ~ a ‘rod’, besides meaning a stick is also a land measurement. Killing your brother over that makes a lot more sense
Why is it that a small country of just 5m can produce such talent as Radie? Add to that the Mulcahy girls, Cara Dillon etc. Is it something in the air, sea or soil? Whatever it is Radie has the most amazing and unique voice of any singer alive just now. She is just absolutely brilliant.
Radie I’m totally in love with your musical vision ! Live long and prosper!

I swear if you don't put Love Henry on the next Lankum album I'll... um, fix myself a cuppa tea and stare at the wall, I guess
Fighting talk .... careful with that cuppa tea!

M Peat I heard you married. What a shame I never met you before! You are lovely and an Irish national treasure!
💚
Are there plans to release the songs as a mini concert or separate videos?
Interview is lovely but any chance we can find the songs separately and uninterrupted?
Hi Laszlo, thanks for getting in touch. I will check if any full versions can be shared, and get back to you.
@@ITMAVideos any more news on this? I know so many of us would absolutely cherish the uncut versions
When they were talking What Put The Blood and Edward, what was the other song, Lizzie what?
Hi Donnacha, it was Lizie Wan / Lucy Wan / Fair Lizzie

It sure sounds like the mountain music of West Virginia
