For people wondering about the squirrel, the "fermented apples" is because the sugar in the apples turns into alcohol as it ferments, just like people use apple juice to make moonshine in the winter. This also happens with other plant items that are used for alcohol: birds, for example, if they are stupid enough to eat too many Juniper berries off bushes (which we have where I live in NY, they're often used as border shrubs) they can get too drunk to fly properly, and that's because those berries do contain an alcoholic component, which is why they were used to make alcohol at one point. Most animals know not to eat these, but sometimes they can get desperate for any number of reasons and start eating fermented plant sources, which results in them getting drunk and acting like this.

We see getting drunk as more of an experience than a risk. There's a lot of stuff humans eat that was originally intended to kill us. For example, Coffee beans contain Caffeine as a toxin. Caffeine, at least for the plant, is a defense mechanism: Caffeine will basically blow up the heart of predators that try to eat the coffee "cherries." So we drink the fast bean juice as a perk-up in the morning when for most creatures they know not to eat it for risk of cardiovascular failure. Alcohol is toxic because it's a complex sugar that can't be processed easily (while your average Carb is worth 3 calories, and Fat is worth 6, Alcohol actually breaks down to roughly 7 calories.) And if your liver and kidneys can't process it fast enough, it basically starts accumulating until your system shuts down from the overload (alcohol is a depressant, so it would be a ride down, not a rocket up.) So it's a literal sugar bomb, for us and for animals. To be fair, we also do have Florida and Australia men. One man in Australia was clocked at 1% blood alcohol after being pulled over. As in his blood was 1% alcohol (the BAC meter broke when they tested him, it was so high, so the number was determined with a blood draw by paramedics.) 99% blood and 1% alcohol was what was coursing through his veins, and most humans would be dead at that point, not driving through the brush of wild Australia at 90kmh with 7 abducted kangaroos in the back of the Jeep like he was. -🖊/🕶
Facundo Quevedo - That's an extremely common misconception. Dogs don't howl at sounds that hurt their ears or upset them, they howl because their mind interprets it as other dogs/wolves howling and they respond to it. When a sound actually hurts them, they run away from it and hide.

When the dog started howling along with the flute, it reminded me of my old dog who used to do that when I played my trombone. He passed away about two months ago, and seeing that clip made me smile and think of him.
