My favorite band forever and always, they got me through high school, college, and most recently in the past 5 years, attempting to be an adult. I feel nothing but joy and happiness for them, no matter what kind of music they are making, because they are real and they write from their hearts, always have and always will - representing our North Carolina the way it deserves.
Wow same literally same.
I hope that now, 7 years later, they still mean as much to you! 😊
I just discovered them through Elliott smith and Seth's and Jessica 's album. I've seen there flyers at Dear Tick shows. I'm going to see them at red Rocks on the 3rd of July 2024. One of the best live bands I've ever seen on RUclips. My first real live experience is in a few weeks
When Seth dips down to those low vocals (about 2:31), oh man. There's always something subtle like that in these private performances that makes me watch them about 20 times.
Seth really has an amazing vocal range.
For the last three weeks, every morning- as soon as I wake, the first thing I do is watch this. Can't wait for Oct. 15 to get here!!!!
this was posted on my birthday and I've been listening to it nonstop ever since. best birthday present EVER.
Always think they won't outdo other great stuff....and I am thrilled to be wrong....why are these guys not huge? Love it.
As an old country singer/songwriter your originality blew me away. Awesome performance guys...all of you. I sure enjoyed it ~ Bob Coltrain Kennedy
I could watch this forever.
This is my favorite ever.
what a gift they are to us.... Thank God.
Just watched them perform this in Lexington! I cried the entire song through. I love them so much!
Phenomenal song, I can't believe how much this song resonates with me. Not sure why but I can't stop listening to this. True music
This is so much better than the album version.
I don't care what type of music these men may make in the future, I will always love and support and be extremely grateful for them.
This is back to the Cabarrus County Fair days. So much talent squeezed into so few.
Saw them live for the first time in Newport. First at a songwriters' workshop (didn't even know about it, just in the right place at the right time) and then on the main stage later on. I don't have words to say how Ithe day
I have been watching this over and over for a half hour now... problem?
The very welcome return of familiar Avett music. This makes me happy
This is new to me. It's morning here, and I was searching for something sweet to start my day...something with a morning theme. I often enjoy listening to Oliver James "Good Morning Starshine, Harry Chapin's "Sunday Morning Sunshine", The Rascal's "It's A Beautiful Morning", etc. I typed in "morning song" and this came up. The song isn't quite as light-hearted as what I was looking for, but still very very nice. Love the heart-felt melody, beautiful harmony and the earthy ambiance. Thanks, guys.
Funny you should ask, I chuckle when he gets to bouncing and jumping holding his cello in the air and playing it beautifully like the fast songs at concerts.
I only have to wait til Saturday now...2 l-o-n-g day away!
First time listening, I got chills. It's ridiculous how great they are. Ridiculous.
Sorry. ...how the day changed me. Thank you Avett Brothers! And all the people who helped a first-timer get up close to the stage. It was amazing!!
Once again they have achieved perfection
Quite possibly their best song ever. They've got so many songs on this same level of excellence though.
THE BEST! I'm captivated by this group BIG time! 💚 💋
Why does this song feel me with so much emotion?
...because it should ;~)
going to see them tomorrow!!!
I WISH OCTOBER 15 WOULD GET HERE!!! I need this album!!!!
Felt so blessed to hear this live in council bluffs. They said it was the first time they'd played this song live. I was about in tears. Such a beautiful song!
Daze A!!!!!! Wow guys, Playing with the chords of my soul.......Stayed Blessed, and keep it coming....Boat Drinks....
If you haven't had a chance to check this band out, then you have no idea how talented and energetic they are. I will go any chance I get
Magpie and the Dandelion was beautiful.
Bucket list dream. Love The Avett Brothers. This song means so much to me.
Sounds like one of their older songs, wonderful :)
wish Bob would sing more often in their songs!!
Listening to them, any of their songs, is like coming home.
You boys stuck a chord with me that want ever be broken !!!!!
This may be my new favorite song by them!
i cannot stop watching this video!
I swear their recordings don't do them justice. Their live performances are FAR superior
one of the best shows in my last 15 yrs
+Mark Surely I love Both! I've seen them 7 or 8 times, and always in the front. Sitting through 2 bands that I didn't care about at all, just to be close as possible to the stage, and their energy! !! They are great live, but they sing better when they are not screaming. On tour they have to sing so much, their voices are, I don't know, stretched? This video was so peaceful, and the opposite of touring, and sleeping on a bus, and writing songs. I love em any way they want to play. Fine by me. I love their recordings! I think I have them all, and listen to them because they are smart, with charm. Each album is a new band with familiar leanings.
I am absolutely in love with this song!
My fave song of 2013!
Scott's higher register, Seth's lower register, Bob's harmony and Joe singing, too?? Could this be any more perfect??
It cannot
Wow. Gorgeous.
Scott's voice is haunting. And I have never heard Joe sing, he should do it more often!
Why do I keep hitting replay?! I didn't think I could listen to a song this many times in a row!
I love the Avetts.....so so much. Their music touches my heart & soothes my soul.
You guys are so awesome.... New fan here!
Cant wait for the new album and all these new songs on my ipod.
This song is perfect.

So glad that these guys are spreading their music to so many new people!
Love it so much.
Absolutely love this song!!

Has instantly become my new favorite. I love this sound!!!

Smacks of old Dead, looks recorded in Captain Trips bedroom at Ashbury. Nice refreshing and new. Something good for a change... Rock on !✌️
I feel blessed that they are playing in my hometown the day their new album comes out. Hoping for a signed copy and can't wait to hear this song live!
Not really a fan, but this is the exact time I needed to hear this. Thank you.
I just love these boys. Song it out, Joe. Beautiful tune.
Don't know if I'm more excited to see them again in September or for this new album!! Good job brothers....love it!!
I need this on my iPod ASAP!
pure brilliance!
Love the look Scott gives at the end...Its like..take that posers !
SOOOO GOOD!!!
Great song by a great band.
You can definitely tell Scott's writing apart from Seth's. Scott is so dark with his lyrics and I love it.
Wow, how I love this!
They give me chills!! Please guys, come to Alabama!!!
just got the chords to it and played it, now I like it even more..
oh my this is beautifull! Waiting for you all to book a gig in Eugene Oregon someday!
Beautiful song.
As a music lover, I think this song is incredible and The Avett Brothers are immensely talented.
As a classically trained Bassist, that technique of the Bassist is painful to watch. Please don't hurt your wrist!
oh bobbys got a beautiful voice!!!
You're not alone. We all love us some Avett Brothers, don't we?
love it
Summed it up. This is perfect.
Magical! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
These gents are amazing!! Great song/: )
My favorite thing about the Avett Brothers is that they have a style that's kind of their "home" (a song like this, for example) but they branch out from it. "Paul Newman vs. the Demons" may not have that folk-y sound that fans of the Lumineers and Mumford are drawn to the Avetts for, but it's kinda like "Pretty Girl from Chile" - a song they wrote 6+ YEARS ago.
They don't necessarily have a consistent sound, but what their biggest fans love about them is that they're consistently themselves.
its a good song, just listen to it and enjoy!
Love it!
YES!!! God yes!!
I have never heard Joe Kwon ever speak, let alone sing! That makes me so excited!
Happy Birthday Seth!!
Sweet song
Proud of you from Salisbury :)
Actually, I believe the whole concept of the "Magpie and the Dandelion" is working around that same theme. "Skin and Bones" and "Vanity" are essentially cousins to this song, and "Another is Waiting" is the cautionary tale
This is my favorite Avett Brothers song The problem is that I can't unhear "It's alright, if you finally stop Karen."
"If you finally stop caring". It's about their aunt, to whom they were very close, who after a long battle with cancer, decided to give up, prompting the next line, "just don't go and tell someone that does" (care). After all, surviving is harder than dying. But I'm sorry, I misread your comment. Thought you said, it was unclear. Well, maybe it's about some crazed fan named Karen who was stalking them.
