Joanna's artistic genius is definitely closely tied with her eccentricity... which, evidenced by some of the ignorant comments before mine, isn't understood by many.
She reminds me of me before I started therapy. If that's the case, she was just unable to let her raw self through, to break the defences, because she was incapable of processing the daily pains of living. She's clearly just her naked self these days. Her godly, otherworldly self.
Shot in the dark but would anyone have the recording at approx 2:10 of En Gallop with a flute accompanying? I haven't seen a single version of the song with that.
@BloomAndGrow The main ingredient, cyanoacrylate is actually used as a medical adhesive for suturing and such. I'd still feel weird putting it on a wound though too.
@Titan124 I don't agree. I guess it depends what you think a hipster is though. To me hipster is a pretty negative description, when I think hipster I think malicious person who's a social climber and is kind of empty but tends to adorn their body as though they've got a lot there. What do you think when you say hipster?
@lsamoa Actually, I don't think she's putting an act. I have the same problem (articulating feelings and so on), so I really know what that means. It's difficult, believe me. Maybe she has changed a bit recently. If so, then it's good for her.
man I hate her so much for being that sweet whatever she does the way she looks is always somehow different, like always magical, amongst so many great women she just stands I just wish I was like her grrrrr
@PukuotaGiraite It's more a matter of diction, how she articulates words, not feelings. See how she actually speaks when she's acting normal : ruclips.net/video/CD0iZioD7po/видео.html It's like it's a different woman.
Completely unoffensive question... I love the shit out of Joanna, she's my favorite singer / artist / person basically... But does she do drugs? Haha. Just wondering, nothing against her if she does
So I remember watching this over a decade ago. And I instantly came to the conclusion, oh wow, she’s very obviously on the spectrum. And I thought that for a few years. And then on a message board this came up and someone was like, dude she’s HIGH in it.
:D Yes, this was the first interview I ever saw of her and I thought the same. Would being high really do this though? Maybe she is a bit spectrumy, it'd make sense given how much of a genius she is. Maybe she's got better at dealing with people since? But then again.. yeah, maybe she's just high haha
@@googlespyfranchise9089this is not high at all😂 but since you guys mentioned it I do notice now how she might come off as being on the spectrum and I think she really is and like you said, has gotten better at interacting with others.
@lawlsimpopular The cultural breakdown of the ever-increasing plague known as hipsterism, brought to you by Joanna Newsom, RUclips, And Hipsi, the only cola too cool for you.
fko3885 If this was 2006, then she'd be about 24. I was thinking some of the events in her personal life that led to the events she sings about in Have One On Me perhaps matured her personality. I think it's also interesting how her personality seems to match the song lyrics - she seems fragile here, I can certainly imagine this person writing the lyrics to songs on Ys (furthermost shake drove a murthering stake and cleft me right down through my centre). And in her later later more mature interviews, I can imagine that person writing the less fragile and more weary lyrics on HOOM. That or she could just be high here.
I love her and her music but I don't get why she thinks she has to talk and giggle like she's 12. I'm not talking about the singing voice: if you watch more recent interviews she acts and sounds totally normal. Articulates and closes her mouth between sentences and all... Here she's totally putting on an act.
Checked out Diana. Not as unique as Joanna. Here in Austin you hear the same old G, C & D major chord progressions all the time by these white "singer song writers" as they call themselves. (What a lame title; might as well call themselves Music Sound Makers). Moves the capo around the neck w/the same chord formations, w/the same up & down rhythmic strumming as all the other coffee house giggers. Nevertheless, thanks for sharing.
Just discovered this amazing artist. Can't get enough.
Amazing how different this Joanna is from today's Joanna...
YES !

how u know this?? u got an inside source 😭
I think she just grew up, and got married.
How do i know what my raw self is :(
this should be a full documentary.
She's my role model
there's more of it? and if it does where???
Shot in the dark but would anyone have the recording at approx 2:10 of En Gallop with a flute accompanying? I haven't seen a single version of the song with that.
It's probably not the same show, but here's a show with the same flute accompaniment ruclips.net/video/T3twAUc3gPo/видео.html

Magic.
she sounded like she was gonna cry when she was talking about sea horses being sad. : (
Always leave time stamps yo

What do you think when you say hipster?
well i am fully water and shes welcome in my home
hallo from Russia! =)
i wish i can meet her T_T id like to talk to her
Wow she is even weirder in real life apparently than her music is. That's pretty rad :)
don't we all just see ourselves in the world around us? Doesn't that ever become clear?
@lsamoa Actually, I don't think she's putting an act. I have the same problem (articulating feelings and so on), so I really know what that means. It's difficult, believe me. Maybe she has changed a bit recently. If so, then it's good for her.

If she was dating anymore I figured it be someone like Conor Oberst. She kinda reminds me of him, but honestly Joanna is such a beautiful human being.
f*ck yea, the Talking Heads

My woman.

lol. my interpretation of her affect here was "she was definitely homeschooled."
She has the most amazing voice. You can tell she has a bit of inspiration from the Icelandic goddess "Bjork". At least Vocally
I would be wind.
oh god, she makes me weak

she sounds stoned out of her mind in this
Is she putting on an act here? In recent interviews, she acts completely normal.
Jeeves574 this was posted 2008, screened 2007 maybe, so real life whenever it's 2006 or backwards, she's no more than 18. Consider that.

it was absinthe
@seannthelaments In bed...
who cares
what the fuck?
@Kivalt Or maybe she was just drugged out of her mind.
She has to be the weirdest person I have ever heard an interview from.
That’s not inherently a bad thing
I ILY Joanna Newsom. But Lisa Mitchell is better.
Anyone else agree she needs more songs like Jackrabbits and '81?
i wonder if her and andy got stoned before this interview you go hippie
drugs on thís level of Art? I don't think so.
she sounds like she just had like 10 joints just before the interview commences... she's as weird as her music
I love her and her music but I don't get why she thinks she has to talk and giggle like she's 12.
