Just purchased a 1978 GS750 and I'm excited. Your videos will save me a lot of time and money - great job dude. Like yours, the speedo cover needs to be painted. How do I take off the cover?

Hi Ronaldo, congrats on getting a GS750. I love them! The speedo assembly is held on with a couple of bolts, disconnect the electrical connector then remove. The chrome rear cover is held on with 4 x 5mm dome nuts. Once the back is off there are a number of screws holding the gauges on. If you dont need to remove the display panel then don't, it was a real pain! Lots of grinding and scraping bits of plastic to get it off. If you need to remove the gauge glass then prise off a small section of the metal ring with a screwdriver then use a teaspoon to go around the rest until it can be popped off. Hope that helps!

Waw, well done. The difference between good and excellent is in the details. Great job.

Thanks Hennie. The devil is in the detail and I like the challenge of how to fix the various problems that arise from a job like this. Keep watching there may be a new project starting soon!

Can I ask how you reset the speedometer. ...I'm in the same situation. ....

Hi Steve, thanks for the support. To tell you the truth I cant exactly remember how I did the speedo. I seem to remember there was a shaft that needed to be removed so that the dial could rotate without the pawls engaging. I have the old MPH speedo, I might pull that apart and have a look and maybe do a video as I've been asked that before. Sorry to not be of more help.

@@plaxsax I'm actually thinking of leaving it as is, since it's the original. But thanks.
