This was one of my favorites from 2024. The handle feels good, the lock is fidgety, and it is a good blade shape and grind. Totally agree, I use the Vision and Demko 20.5 so much this lock is softer to disengage, but it is a weird angle to pull back on. The thinness isn't a problem for me like the Vosteed Parallel, it fits my hand great and is a great EDC. I hope the comments didn't get you down at all, I just like hearing your thoughts.
Great you tried something new. Everyone needs to grow and try new things. If you feel you need to change things up, for you; do what you feel is good. I watch because you are real. Trying something new will not stop me from watching. $200+ is to much for me, but it’s a nice knife.
Hey Stassa23. Nice folder. If the heat treat is right on the steel, for me you don’t half to use the blade. Just do the overview on the knife. Just my opinion. Love your content Stassa.
I'm a Cold Steel fanboy out of nostalgia, so take that into account. I really like my FM-1 as an EDC. The only other Cold Steel I carry every day is my mini Recon 1, but this kind of reminds me of that, but a lot nicer. It definitely designed with convenient carry in mind, its thinness sacrificing some ergonomics.
Great knife. The only thing I would change is the pocket clip. I tried to put a different one on but the screws have a different thread than the standard size. I need longer screws for the clip I bought but the screws have to match the oddball threads. The scales are threaded for these weird small screws
I've seen a lot of vids doing things to Cold Steel knives that they didn't hold up well and then there are the vids with Cold Steel bad customer service. Still, you gave an honest review for what you've seen and I can't disagree. All that being said, for the money, with the same steel and size, I could go a lot cheaper than that knife. I'm in the same camp though too. Some of my knives are expensive even though I could have gone cheaper, but I wanted THAT knife and saw the value for me. Knives are not mainly for sane, logical people. They're for those that make ourselves happy.
… I’m really curious where you are finding all of these videos of cold steel knives failing. I’d be really curious as to what these people are doing to break their knives. Being bomb-proof (especially compared to basically every other production folder) is kinda their schtick. See - DBK & Joe C for the best illustrations of this.

All great reviewers listen to feedback and understand that (in most cases) it's not personal and use it as a chance to make things better. I've been following your channel for a couple of years now and watch all your vids due to the quality of your comments and observations - used them many times to help inform on purchases. Regarding 'asymmetrical' edge bevels (deliberately different angles and/or heights and/or grinds on either side). Primarily used on kitchen knives as a way of enhancing & controlling cutting performance. eg. improve ability to 'steer' through material/foods. Common combo is flat one side but convex on the other - the convex is used to help food to fall away from the blade during cutting. Difficult to explain in a comments section but generally for experts. If the asymmetry is not deliberate then its just a crap grind job. Why Cold Steel do this on this type of knife?? (The voice inside says this might be to hide poor grinding but maybe they do have a genuine reason.) Sharp blades all.
This Cold Steel looks different from all other Cold Steels maybe because it's thiner with thin blade which looks slicer.Other difference is maybe the weight and the design which is great.
I bought this knife and its incredibly painful and hard to release the blade with my fingers with the shark lock. The shark lock is not easy to open with my fingers and causes deep red marks into them. Often I can't pull the lock back hard enough to release the blade. The shark lock has none of the ease of use of a axis/crossbar lock. FYI, females have 50 percent of the hand strength of a male. The shark lock is not user friendly to me. I own over 550 fixed and folding knives.
I have one of these, and it's a disaster. The thumbstuds are uneven, the atlas lock bar jimping is so rounded over that it's near impossible to disengage it and cold steels customer service has been completely unresponsive about resolving the issues i sent 3 emails and have gotten no response.
@@QuazarCyclone99 damn thanks for the info, I wonder if they changed the jimping on the Atlas Lock because mine is good not rounded at all. All of Cold Steel’s just about have the two different size thumb studs not sure if that’s what you’re talking about. I also really appreciate you letting me know about the customer service also, I will have to try to think of something I can contact them for to see how it goes because if it’s a continuous problem then I’ll stop reviewing their knives. Let me know if you ever get to talk to them 🍻
@@Stassa23the issues he’s e-mailing them about aren’t really issues. It’s how the knife is designed. I have one too and love it. But those design quirks are just that. If I was e-mailed about those things I wouldn’t respond either as they are not issues with the actual knife.
@vicitfidelis1277 doesn't matter either way they should still respond cause that's what good customer service is supposed to do. I have other atlas lock knives (karve, mayhem, engage 2.5in) that don't have this issue so it's clearly not designed that way
Glad youre back to being you!!!! That's why were here in the first place, big guy!

Great looking knife from CS. Thanks for the review ✌🏽
Sick looking knife. Great video.
FM1 has been my daily for months. Carries so well! Thinking about getting one in black too.

I need this ...I have the karve and it's brilliant
At least you're honest about the length of the knife.

If they could just put that handle texture on the Code4!!

Still can't find one in Australia.
Good, Thx
Apart from not being USA made, this FM-1 absolutely dominates the Benchmade Narrows.
Glad to see a reversible pocket clip. Cold Steel doesn’t provide ANY way to get left handed pocket clips.
Every cold steel I’ve ever purchased that needed a different clip for left-hand carry came with a left hand clip.

Love the knife but a bit pricey
Looks like a nicer, fidgetier Code 4. Nice review, now when are you going to hammer this one into a tree and stand on it? 😂
