@@eddieyoung108 Thank you again, Eddie! Super generous of you!
Thank you for making this! This is a topic that has seemed so daunting for me, and you break it down so simply!
Jesse, that means a lot to me coming from you! Thanks so much!
Frank Summers Harmony Tutorials ARE DEFINITELY THE BEST TUTORIALS OF ALL! THANK YOU MASTER FOR YOUR GENEROSITY AND HELP!
Glad you enjoy them!
Nice! That final bit of animation felt surprisingly natural and lively given the simplicity of the rig. What an elegant setup.
Thanks, Miguel! That was definitely the point I was hoping to make with the animation in the end. You can do a lot with very little. It all comes down to the acting and timing choices one makes. Cheers!
Yay!! This is so great!! Thank you Frank for another clear and easy to follow tutorial!! This is most helpful!! 😊👍🙏
I knew this would be a big topic, so I tried my best to make it as clear and concise as possible. Hope that long run-time doesn't scare too many people away...Thanks for watching, Eddie!
Can’t believe this was released only a month ago. Really important and great

Thank you so much a trillion of times!!!
Hi Frank! Just wanted to say again how much I love your tutorials!! Thanks so much!! 😊
Hey Eddie! Glad you still enjoy them!
Hi Frank! I'm finally ready to use the Master Controller... I learned from you how to make one, now I'm wondering how to animate it. I'm sorry if I missed that in your tutorial. You show the timeline with the animation in it, I'm sure it's very simple, but so far I haven't figured out the all important animation process. Thanks!!
Eddie, good to hear from you. For the animation process, as you manipulate the MC widget it places down key frames in the timeline.
I think it is worth pointing out that the Master Controller is useful for recalling your poses that you put into it on the fly. Does that make sense?
@@FrankSummersAnimation Hi Frank!! Thanks so much for getting back to me. I'm using the Slider Wizard to make an eye blink. I captured the keyframes of an eye blink that I made with deformers. When I manipulate the slider the eyes blink... when I move down the timeline and move the Slider Handle I see a white keyframe on the closed timeline, but no blink. What am I missing? 🥴
@@FrankSummersAnimation Got it!! Thanks Frank!!!
Amazing, thank you so much!
Glad you liked it!
Thanks ♥️ Keep It Up
Wow very cool video, thanks a lot. I learned a few new methods trick ;) well done
thankss man
WOW.
Thanks a lot, so I have a simple question.
If I move the MC point from the far left to the far right in one animation it still shows the mouth flipping animation, any fix for that? or do I just need to be careful about the center movement?
Hi, is it possible to associate a drawing substitutions with the MC? So a drawings swap when you move the controller?
Yup! The MC's should remember any drawing subs on the keyframes and will swap to them as you manipulate the controller. I do not believe it will see any drawing subs that happen between keyframes if that makes sense, but anyone please correct me if I am wrong. Hope that helps!
@@FrankSummersAnimation It would be wonderful if true! Thanks for the answer and great tutorial!
Hello. Why do controllers disappear when moving a character to another scene (project)?
sorry, I'm using a translator
If you are using H20, creating character templates will be a much easier process. However, prior to H20's release you could still create reusable templates with the Master Controller in them, but it was a bit more of a manual process which is slightly beyond a casual YT reply.
can I use eyedropper tool in toon boom?
please help me When I make MC the baby has just that 9 poses that I added into MC. Yours MC is soo smooth. How do you do that?
Hey Frank, would be possible to add another PEG to the Pupils and get the same result as the eyebrow?
I believe you are referring to keeping the pupils from being added to the MC? Yeah you could certainly do that, however perhaps in the pupils' case it is best to simply make sure they are just not added to the MC during creation. While you manipulate the widget, the pupils will at first have a "dead" look to them as they will be focused on nothing, but as you work and have the pupils focused within the scene, they will remain at their last pose as you use the MC. Does that make sense?
how did u move the ear in front of the head? is that z depth?
That is correct! Just a slight nudge along the Z-plane to shift elements in front of each other. Use it wisely!
Can you help me please, i did my character "0" to (+)90 degree turnaround,, but how will I do "0" to (-) 90 degree turnaround so that I can add 180 degree into wizard Master controller.
Good luck on your animation work on the upcoming 2nd season of DC Super Hero Girls for Cartoon Network.
Thank you! DC Super Hero Girls is coming along.
@@FrankSummersAnimation You're welcome.
Toon Boom Harmony . Can anybody help me please, i did my character "0" to (+)90 degree head turnaround,, but how will I do "0" to (-) 90 degree turnaround so that I can add 180 degree into wizard Master controller.
Please when I copy an object on a frame and paste it in another frame and try to use the transform tool to move the copy it affects the original...does anyone know how I can only move the the copy so that it won't affect the original..I've tried duplicating but it doesn't work
It sounds to me like you might be getting confused about how drawings and keyframes work in Harmony. I suggest checking out my tutorial "Drawings Vs Keyframes". Hope that helps!
@@FrankSummersAnimation ok thanks
Please share a tutorial on walk cycle
When I use the mc it has not articulation
Nah I’m just dumb
Can you use Harmony 16 for this?
I no longer have access to Harmony 16, so I cannot find out for sure. The Grid Wizard (or the entire Master Controller Toolbar for that matter) is not included in H16. Toon Boom released a script into the wild called the "Interpolation Grid" that I possibly have someplace, but I'd have to look for it. It is very early version of it, and lacks some features shown here, but can be added manually.
@@FrankSummersAnimation oh ok because I have thats version of H16 and it has the interpolation grid for the master controllers
@@TripFontain Nice. So yes give it a shot then! There will be some differences between that and what I discuss here.
