from FL! My mom is similar, never had her own room her entire life. From rooming with siblings, to being in a dorm, then getting married. She stressed to me and my sister that one day we should get our own place and live on our own and just enjoy the peace of it all. Currently Im at home straight out of college to save money but plan to live on my own for atleast a year before living with my boyfriend & cant wait! I also want my boyfriend to experience living on his own as well before we get a place. Love that women have been sharing the joy with living on their own more and more. It’s been so pushed on us women to quickly get married and have kids and Im happy that is slowly coming to an end. We’ve always had it very hard throughout history & this is a BIG win.
New listener from NYC! I love this topic and although I'm not in a relationship where moving in with a boyfriend was an option that I've considered, I've always been skeptical about rushing to do it. I've seen the women around me move in with their husband/boyfriends before having the chance to live alone. They've shared that they wish they had a chance to be on their own. Having a chance to be independent before being dependent on a man is sooo important as a woman. I've always loved the idea of having my own space FIRST. I pray for the day when that becomes a reality for me.
I have a Justin too! We're engaged but not living with each other yet (I live with my parents). When I'm at his place, I notice ALL of what you spoke about here. I've also seen some of these habits with my dad. While it can be annoying, I refuse to let it stress me. If he changes or not, I'll work around it. Having a white couch era would be sooo nice...but is not the best decision financially for me. That said, having "me time" & time with friends or family (without your partner) as well as setting boundaries is NEEDED. Loved this video❤ ~from Trinidad 🇹🇹
Yes, absolutely! I totally understand that finances play a big role in this, but I’m so glad you still found the importance of having “you time”. Thank you so much for listening ❤️
Girl I'm sorry. Some of this just sounds like your living with an inconsiderate partner and have regrets which is OK and normal around getting pregnant and not living out some of of your dreams! I encourage you to say you still can and still can set these boundaries with your man! My man - i don't experience this? And things I don't like we talk about. Good luck girl thanks for sharing
Thank you for your honesty! I wouldn’t say I regret anything, but I would say I have thought about what life would be like had things turned out differently. I don’t think my partner is inconsiderate, I just think we’re both still adjusting to life together and with a child. Yes, we have an open line of communication, but we’re still pretty new to this so it’s definitely a learning curve that will take time. I have been working on creating boundaries and finding a balance of doing things for myself vs. doing things for our family. Everyone’s situation is different, and I acknowledge that it’s been a harder transition for me than it probably has been for most people. Thank you for your input, and thank you for listening! 🫶🏽
@@girlsirlpodI’m actually from the states, but made it here bc I didn’t let a relationship prevent me from going for my dreams. Every young girl should hear this advice!! Now, I’m in a relationship where we are both pursuing our dreams (no matter where it might take us) while we are still young!!
Thank you for sharing and being vulnerable with us. I feel like having a "white couch era" is a really big privilege. A good portion of women on planet earth will never have that chance to live that era in their lives. Personally, when I think about my future, I don't really see this as being a possibility for me so I have to accept that my life will look different even though this is something I'd like. In the US more and more women have the chance to achieve that, but I still need to remember that it's an incredible privilege. Not everyone has access to privilege. If that was the case, we would all be complacent and not recognize the blessings God give us 😁😁 Sometimes, I feel grateful to not have access to everything, because it allows me to put things into perspective and actually see everything God has already done for me.
