Hello Ladies! Im the mystery knitter in the Agnes Kofta pic at Rhinebeck 😊 Julie Cashin of Buttonjar Studio 🙋 I actually purchased all the Finull yarn from you! It was a very fun knit right down to the pewter buttons and Norwegian ribbon. Happy Knitting! 🥰
Welcome back Corinne! I always enjoy seeing your and Maggie's WIPS! Kelsey's segment was FANTASTIC! Iloved seeing the patterns that she featured and her Woolly Thistle yarns to knit them with. Every episode brings me joy! Hope to see you at Rhinebeck! 🤗
I love that you had the wonderful "kindness of strangers" on your trip to Greece, Corinne. It is one of the best parts of traveling. So sorry you had the Covid though. Both your picks for the sweater KAL are amazing. Very ambitious and Maggie's swatch is gorgeous. Thanks for another fun shopcast!
Another wonderful shop cast! So much here! Corinne, welcome back, and I love your stripey socks! And the new yarns! Yippee! Kelsey's yarn sub info was very informative. I have come to look forward to these shop casts, seeing what you've all been knitting and what's new.
lovely updates from you all! and a pronunciation guide for the new Fjallalopi from someone who's been living in Iceland for the past four years: the j is indeed a y-sound, like in german, but the double-l is pronounced like a tl -- so phonetically it might be spelled fy-atla-lopi. Fjall means mountain, so it translates as mountain wool -- so glad to see it washing up on US shores -- and greetings from the Westfjords where lots of icelandic sheep are still roaming around!
Thank you for another inspiring and informative shop cast. I always learn something new from Emma and Kelsey. My favorite thing though is when Corinne gets so excited about sniffable yarns. Your enthusiasm is contagious.
Peer pressure swatching--that would actually work for me! I will join this KAL one day. Glad you are feeling better, Corrine--what a great vacation! Welcome Briggs & Little; so many great new yarns and colors to see--
So much yarn to love! I'm thrilled that Briggs and Little has come to the Wooly Thistle. Also, I couldn't help noticing the resemblance of Emma's top to a set of Chiagoo interchangeables! What a way to represent knitting when it's too hot for sweaters.
Thank you for another great episode. Welcome back Corrine; so sorry that you was sick on your trip, but Maggie and Jill held things together. As usual, thank you for showing and sharing what is new in the shop! I can’t wait to get some Peace Fleece, Briggs and Little and especially The Scottish Yarn Festival yarn. So, so pretty and so many wonderful colors!😍
Another fun episode. Emma, thank you for demonstrating how to reinforce your steeks. And Kelsey, loved the pattern round up. I saw a few that will definitely go in my favorites. Loved seeing all your knits ladies.
Excellent shopcast! Thank you Kelsey for letting me know that TWT will help with yarn substitutions and patterns. You gave great ideas and I’m super excited t for the sweater KAL :)
Wonderful episode! And thank you Kelsey for your fun collection of patterns; I was thrilled to see you had chosen several v neck cardigans and open cardigans - they are so wearable and tend to be under represented, so I was very happy!!!
I love the podcast so very much. The Briggs and Little yarn looks amazing. I'm off to work on my KAL sweater. The Victory and the course that compliments the pattern are making my first sweater knit fun and easy so far. I recommend both! I feel this Victory Cardigan is the perfect foundation of knowledge for future knits.
Everyone has said everything I was going to say!! your Fortross Vest, Corrine...and welcome back!! Everyone filling in were wonderful. I love that the staff reflects the community that is The Woolly Thistle. Each person brings their own special style, insights and tips. And always the senses of humor. I love laughing along. Off to blast off on my casted on stitches of the Victory Cardigan! Best of all, I think I'm getting the hang of how to have a conversation in the Ravelry group! Thank you!!!
Welcome back Corinne! I’m so jealous of your trip to Greece, minus the being sick part, of course. The new Fjallalopi yarn is intriguing…I especially love that teal color! 💙
Great shopcast….as usual! Loved the segment Kelsey did where she subbed yarn for different patterns. So practical and helpful. Also loved some of the new yarns that you’ve brought into the shop - new Lopi, Briggs and Little….more to try!
Sooo many goodies - who can choose?! - and so much great information! Thanks for another great podcast. Wishing you all the best on the start of the sweater KAL. Liz
Welcome back Corinne! The Greek islands sound lovely - COVID not so much😒 It looks like you are feeling better and up to the job of offering us so much inspiration and temptation - in a good way. Kelsey's segment was super helpful and I love the idea of the Knibbler box - great gift idea!
The shop cast is always a pleasure to watch! I enjoyed Emma’s needle felting discussion. I also learned about this technique from Modern Daily Knitting, and it’s been my go-to for a while. It’s worked very dependably with every non-superwash wool I’ve tried so far, through wears and washes too. I’m curious now about the question of why laddering happens vertically and not horizontally-I always thought it had to do with the structure of knitted fabric rather than the material, but now I’m full of more questions. Always a good thing :). Thanks for sharing your yarny enthusiasm yet again!!
What a wonderful episode: not only Corinne and Maggie’s usual wonderful banter and great information, but also the incredible work of Kelsey on yarn subs and the steeking lesson from Emma. I look forward to your episodes!
So much fun looking at allll the woolly yarns in the shop !! Briggs & Little has been around for a long time! I must get some! The new Lopi light weight yarn…. sounds wonderful, perhaps a cardigan! Thanks for all the new wool goodies, steek lessons, yarn subs!!
It’s a great Friday when there’s a shopcast! Kristin Wiola ( pronounced vee-oh-la in Norwegian) Ødegärd creates visually gorgeous patterns. I knit her Rundt i Dalen. Hint: Kristen creates sleeves for giants; be prepared to knit them a lot shorter. Corinne, it’s wonderful to have you back from vacation. Maggie, your vest continues to amaze with Ysolda’s talent.
Hi ladies, nice to see you both Corinne and Maggie, you have great Karma together! ! It’s taken me forever to finish watching. Such is life 😄. Great job as always! I enjoyed both Kelsey’s section on sweater pattern choices. She had me searching all her patterns on Ravelry. And Emma’s section of felting steels. That made sense to me thanks Emma!!
A great shopcast, as usual!! Thank you Kelsey and Emma for your segments, both were really informative. The Briggs and Little yarn looks really amazing.
What a great shopcast! I early enjoyed the needle felling for steeping, one day I’m going to try it. Welcome back Corrine! Sorry you were under the weather during your vacation. So many new and beautiful yarns!!
I cast on my sweater for the KAL while watching and got a few rows finished. I liked Emma’s needle felting demonstration. Beautiful new yarns - I can’t wait to try them.
Another informative shop cast. You had me checking out yarn online while you were talking. Liked Kelsey's pattern options and yarns to sub was very helpful. Thanks again!
The Flowers of Fortrose dusty pink/blue/green colorway is so lovely. I'm putting it on my list! Thanks as always for the inspiration--I get excited about something new every time I watch!
Chock full of lovely new yarn! I am intrigued by the quoddy one. Quoddy is a place name, but also describes a place as fertile and beautiful, so a great name for that beautiful blue! I think my order has grown by leaps and bounds....❤
a really informative shop cast. Welcome back Corinne and sorry to hear that your were suffering covid far from home. I do like to see the yarns as you describe the colors. Also what was special for me the comments from the ladies who generously add their knowledge .Sharing their experiences with the different yarns was very helpful.. Also I appreciate hearing how we can sub yarns and which ones work in regard to the patterns shown. Again thank you for your time and enthusiasm.
Wow! What a full episode. Emma, what an amazing amount of information you imparted regarding steeking! Everyone should feel brave about doing steeks now.
Yeah! My order of J & S yarn arrived this week and I'm getting ready to begin the Intro to Colorwork class and my Flowers of Fortrose hat. Gulp! But you do inspire! Thank you for that.
I’ve only recently joined the channel and this is the first episode I’ve watched. What fun!!!!! I’ve always been intrigued by steeking and here it is, my sign to give it a go!! Thank you so much!!!
Another great shop cast! Love Briggs and Little yarn - it’s the yarn I was taught to knit on and my husband’s favourite yarn for his work socks which he wears all year long.
Loved this shopcast! SO happy you are now carrying Briggs and Little - my favorite yarn! I have designed with it frequently. So "Quoddy" is a nickname for Passamaquoddy, and I suspect because it is a blue color that it refers to Passamaquoddy Bay - a large bay off the Bay of Fundy that is in turn named for the indigenous people that live here. The part of Maine that I live in, as well as parts of New Brunswick, where the Briggs and Little Mill is, surround this international bay. Our local newspaper is called The Quoddy Tides. Lots of things named Quoddy up here!
So thrilled to see a little bit of woolly Canada represented on your shelves. When I taught at my LYS yrs ago my students couldn't believe some of my sweaters were 18yrs old and still looked newly knit....that's Briggs & Little for ya. I'm sure your clients will love it.
I never miss a shopcast. They are always so good. I can’t say which segment is my favorite because they are all excellent. It seems each episode offers just what I need at the moment. So looking forward to fall. I’ve joined the sweater KAL and I’m knitting the Felix sweater in Lettlopi. Great job to all of you.
I miss being able to watch the shopcasts first thing on Friday mornings like I did in the summer. I'm back at work teaching, but it's nice to come home to at the end of the day.
Sweater weather is here and it was so great to see all of your new yarns. I enjoyed all of the segments and continue to learn from each of you. Have a great September! ❤
I'll be knitting the Dunrobin sweater in Lettlopi! Thus us my first KAL AND my first sweater. I'm excited to be knitting with everyone! This was also my first time watching TWT shopcast, and I love seeing all the new yarns!
Maggie - I love that hot pink in your sweater swatch, too! As usual, so much woolly goodness here. I have a wedding gift that must be finished, but your sweater KAL is tempting =)
Wonderful Podcast, as always. I have to say that Jill has the patience of a Saint. I pestered her several times regarding my order...for some reason, I needed a lot of assistance and she was just wonderful!!! Thank you for everything ❤
I am new to the Woolly Thistle and am loving this content! Joined the Sweater KAL, my first KAL, with a cardigan which will be my first steek project. Cheers to trying new things!
Emma, thank you for the instructions on felting for steeking. I am making my first colorwork pullover and you answered each question that came to mind as you spoke about the process. Thanks for another great shopcast.
Great Episode! I really enjoyed Kelsey's segment on swapping out yarn in patterns. I have a few patterns that now I feel a little more comfortable using woolly wool. Also, Emma's segment was an ah-ha moment for me. I'm going to try it on my next project (the Voe Vest). As the weather starts to cool down, I'm looking forward to knitting more with my woolly wool from TWT!!!
Incredible Shopcast! Welcome home, Corinne! I'm happy to hear you're feeling better. Maggie, you, Jill and all of TWT staff created a rich and seamless community experience while Corinne was on her well-earned vacation. In this Shopcast, I especially loved Emma's steek needle felting segment. Perfect timing as I plan to needle felt steeks for the very first time on the beautiful Ostrobothnia Sweater I began knitting in early June. I'm thoroughly enjoying this project. Autumn here we come! My favorite season! Again many thanks for a great Shopcast and all you do to support all of us who love you and woolly wool!
This episode starting the fall season was fantastic! I cast on my Annajakke while watching and it’s so wonderful to be apart of this community. I was so excited to hear Corinne is making Kristin Wiola Odegard’s Agnes as I have the Rauma Finullgarn and pattern for Agnes -Dark to start after my Annajakke! I can’t wait to hear all about her progress during the KAL! Thanks to Kelsey’s addition all about different wool that can be used with different patterns and Emily felting her steek! Thanks to all!
Thank you so much for another inspiring episode, you always bring new knitting joy that I look forward to. A little tip for those who are a little nervous about cutting their knitting: if I'm worried about how a yarn that's new to me will behave when I cut it, I just make a small test sheet that I cut up without any reinforcement , stretching and pulling to see how the yarn behaves. Then I know if it requires any reinforcement or not, and I can let go of my worries. ☀️☀️☀️
I love the yarn substitutions section. I would love a video this fall talking about soft WT yarn options for gift knitting maybe even matched with some gift knit patterns? Thank you for your endless inspiration!
Temptation is so great! Have to thank you for helping determine how I can use my Plotulope in a pattern I love from Aran. Also happy to see Jagger Spun in your shop - I have been very happy with their yarns.
Thank you for another fun podcast! Welcome back, Corrine; hope you are feeling all well. I hope to start my sweater today. Broke my arm last week, so may be a bit behind. Someday you all will inspire me to knit one of those lovely Fair Isle sweaters! Such f un to see new things in the shop. Take care, all.
Great episode, I am from the uk, so just have to admire you from afar 🙁. Always anticipating your next episode. I love New England all the place names I am so familiar with but in a different country, one day maybe I will see it . When I was looking on google maps I was surprised to see you and Junction fibre mill are not to far from each other despite being in a different state. Keep up the fantastic work, love you all ❤️
You were missed, Corinne!! Love your stripe socks and the flowered garment!! Maggie, that color works sweater is gorgeous... love the pattern and the colors - amazing!!!! Just a delightful podcast!!
What a wonderful show! Emma thank you for showing how to reinforce steeks! I’m new to steeking so this will help so much! And all of the new yarn!! So beautiful! And you capped the show off by using one of my photos! Thanks so much!! (KnittingInABottle photo! Love you all so much!
The Agnes!! Yes I keep circling back to this one absolutely love it and keep adding yarn to my cart but then get distracted by something else 😏- can’t wait to see your progress! So sorry you were ill on holiday as well…it’s always the way 😢 and hi Maggie! 🤗 love yours too!
So much woolly inspiration! Corinne, you have the most amazing team at TWT. Every single person is so knowledgeable and warm……just like the wool that has brought us all here.❤
