Thank you for the honest review, Jake! We appreciate it bud. Glad you liked our Savage 1's! If you need a new pair, hit us up and mention Bear and we will take care of you. -Bear Handlon, Founder/CEO
Appreciate that, brother. However, while I work with you guys as an affiliate I will always buy my models for review. I want to be a consumer and it keeps me more objective which is better for all parties as y'all get better feedback from me that way. Thank you for checking out the content!
Wdym? They look better than just about every other training shoe other than Metcons. They also don’t scream “hey, I’m a CrossFit/functional fitness guru”.
If you want a bit more cushion for running in the Savage 1, try Inov8 Boomerang insoles. Seen them recommended for technical (rocky) trail running and holy moly they're superb. If you can afford the slight increase in volume based on your fit in the Savage 1, please check these out, folks!
Do you prefer the Savage 1 or the Inov8 F-Lite 235 V3? Was looking to get one or the other and was wondering how they compare. Prefer 4mm drop in training shoes with a traditional feel and good flexibility for dynamic workouts (sled pushes) but can also handle moderate squats and deads (~300lbs). Seems like both can possibly provide that. Appreciate the in-depth reviews you provide!
I'd go Savage 1! They fit a little wider and I like their outsole a little more from a grip context. Both are great shoes, though, don't think you can go wrong with either
So I’m looking for an all around Physical Training shoe. I’m in the army and I have to do everything between running close to 3 miles and deadlifting 340lbs. I’m leaning towards the Rad ones but any other recommendations? PS and awesome video would be to try shoes in different Military Fitness tests and give your feedback. TIA!
That's a sick idea for building a video focused on those tests, honestly. I might do that in the near future. The RAD are solid. I'd also suggest looking into the Nano X3/Nano X4 and the Inov-8 F-Lite G 300. All of those should fit the bill plenty fine!
@@ResistanceRxI sized my RADs and Hazes both 10.5US/28.5cm. Although I have heard that recent Strike Haze models are running smaller? May have to double check that one.
Dear Jake! Hope you’re enjoying your holiday. Because of your review i was inspired to get inov8 235 v3 and strkmvmnt chill pill af trainer, now it’s time to get another pair. I was wondering should i get born savage 130$ or strk mvmnt AF knit trainer (52+15=67$). I run 15/20 mins after workout with flat feet and messed up knee.what would be your recommendation?
I'm looking for a new pair of crossfit shoes. I currently have the no bull trainer. How would you rate from worst to best the haze trainer vs savage 1 vs nano 2 vs no bull trainer? Thanks!
Yo! Just wondering, i know you're not a runner runner and more of a lifter runner. But i was wondering, which shoes do you use for your runs and do you have any thoughts on the Nike Pegasus 40 or the Saucony Tempus?
Haha, fair assessment of my running! I've been rocking the Adidas Adizero Boston 12s lately and the TYR runners but I haven't found them to be that comfy, tbh. I've been meaning to actually buy the Tempus and I've heard "good" things about the Peg 40s. I wore the Peg 38s for a long time before rotating into other shoes.
Can/do you train in these sockless? Looking to get out of barefoot trainers for something more substantial . Couldn’t tell if you are rocking a no show sock or nothing with em. Thanks!
I rock no-show socks, but will go barefoot here and there. I don't typically do so in trainers for stank, though. In barefoot shoes I'll go barefoot more often!
My main issue with the BORN PRIMITIVE SAVAGE 1 is that it is almost all the time out of stock, only the white is in stock, if you want the black like here, nothing :(
Sorry about this. We feel your pain! We are working to get these restocked ASAP. Also, some really new colorways coming out in 2024. Stay on the lookout!
Not gonna lie, I've had the rad one for awhile, not even consistently getting into the gym with them, and they just have not aged in a way that I like. The way the upper has stretched out and aged for me just hasn't been great. If the born primitive savage 1 is like the old nano's then I might give them a shot
How comfortable would you say the Savage 1s are compared to the Haze Trainers for running, DUs and plyo work in general? Would love to hear your thoughts on that!
I'd say they're pretty dang comparable regarding their density. If anything, the Haze mayyy have a slight edge regarding feeling a little more plush but even that would be a stretch because I don't think most would pick up on that diff. I do like the BP's sole a bit better for lateral explosive work, but both shoes slap for plyos in general. My only gripe here would be the outsole tread fading quicker on the Haze compared to the BP!
I’ve been sporting Inov8 F-Lite G300’s for the past year, but previously coming from nano 10s, I’ve been considering trying to find a shoe with a wider midfoot and toe box. Having thicc boi’s for feet can be a pain when shopping for shoes, you understand 😂
Pretty similar overall, especially if we're talking midsole density/stability. The Savage 1 does have a little more bite with its outsole tread. You also have a bit more toe box room in the BP Savage 1. Both shoes are great, though, and they're always in my rotation.

RAD one may be a good shoe, but I can't get over the fact they look like they belong at Walmart.
Wdym? They look better than just about every other training shoe other than Metcons. They also don’t scream “hey, I’m a CrossFit/functional fitness guru”.
LOL, if it's any consolation my best friend calls my Haze Trainers and Tolos Archetype 1.0s grandpa shoes. Different strokes for different folks!
😂😂 glad I'm not alone
@@alphapapa4446lmfao now that you say that I do feel like my Savage 1s scream that 🤣🤣
Sticking with my RADS. Hoping to get one of those "mixed pairs", in today's drop. 😂

Boomerang insoles are sick. Great tips here!

The Born Primitive had a good Black Friday sale so picked up some white and grey ones.
Love it !

Love the RAD ones! Currently my go to shoe alongside Strike MVMNT Hazes. Keen to try out the Savage Ones when they become more accessible in Australia
I think you’ll dig them. Those 3 and the Dropset 2 have made for a 🤌 line up
Any difference in sizing for you from the Hazes to the Rad ones?

I'd go Born Primitive. Knit Trainer is okay, but for running - they're so so and I think your feet would fit the BP better.
How did you like those chill pill af? I noticed there’s a lot of review comments about the casual wear aspect of them as well.
I'm looking for a new pair of crossfit shoes. I currently have the no bull trainer. How would you rate from worst to best the haze trainer vs savage 1 vs nano 2 vs no bull trainer? Thanks!
Haze/Savage, Nano 2, NOBULL.
Savage and Haze are both dope and you can't go wrong with either, imo. Haze is more casual and Savage is a little wider.
