Mouthpiece buzzing without resistance seems incongruous with any form a actual playing, where there is always resistance. Even so, many insist on buzzing. Suggestion: make a fist around your mouthpiece with the rim against your forefinger and thumb and lightly cover the bottom of the tube with your other palm. You can buzz and glissando comfortably while varying the resistance with your covering palm, and you can even play melodies, though, without a spit valve, you soon find you need to dry your hand.
You should explain and show the buzzing much more without mouthpiece before doing it on the mouthpiece, cause in the pencil exercise you aren't buzzing your lips

I'm totally incapable of buzzing the gradual changes of notes. Don't know how Shaw does it so easily.

That is a Marcinkiewicz 8-s.
