This Rig Rundown was a big thrill to set up and host!! I got introduced to this band by way of a friend’s suggestion and have been consuming the solid-granite goodies ever since! Stoked to see what comes next in their music and success 🙏🤘 - enjoy y’all!
You forgot to ask the bass player about his strings! that's so not you Chris, lol. I saw it's on the article tho, thx for doing a rig rundown with them, i was dying to know what they use live since their Remove your skin EP
I had the privilege of playing a show with them in London. They are genuinely the kindest, warmest, and most humble guys. It’s so exciting to see them doing so well.
huge thanks for shining a light on these sorts of bands, discovered them last year, great to see them reach a wider audience and see their rigs =) , thanks
I met Stin and Luther at Core Festival in Glasgow. Truly inspirational guys. Luther’s tutorial vids are worth a watch too. Stin is a one man production machine and the loveliest of guys. They all are. I love that they are getting paid to do what they do. They deserve it.
Awesome! Easily, one of the most exciting bands to come up over the last few years for me. Such a unique blend of stylistic influences in their sound. Love it!
Dude! Cool World Top 5 album of 2024! Such an ominous record, fuckin love it! Keep up the good work! Well done P.G for the sick interview! Outstanding as always
What a lovely group of guys! The music alone makes it seem like these dudes would be absolutely unhinged lmao. Very cool to see the gear and get a feel for how down to earth they are. Awesome video.
This was so good! Thank you for doing rundowns with all kinds of bands. If you ever get the chance I would love to see Drug Church, portrayal of guilt and Blood Incantation on here.
They do not look like they sound! Very organic sounding album, and very inspiring that they record so simply, but get such an original sound. What Stin says about heavy albums resonates 100%
Aside from Justin Trosper, I think Larry LaLonde from Primus also nails the textural playing that Luther Manhole is describing here. Lots of dissonant and atmospheric playing that bounces off of the other band member’s parts. I’m a huge fan of that kind of percussive and unconventional guitar sound. So I guess Chat Pile and Primus have that in common, lol. Just a thought
I really like the Baritone / Clean Amp / Chorus / Reverb nods to Cure. I heard a punk band where the guitarist did that with a JC-77 last year, and it sounded so icey and stabby live, loved it. For an amp that can do great distortion, but great cleans, rather than a 5150, could try an Orange Rocker / Rockerverb. They have gnarly distortion, into fuzz territory. But a nice 70s clean tone too. They're pretty full in the bass/lower mids too, like the Ampeg V-4b. And similar to the V-4b, they found good use with the Stoner / Doom people as more affordable alternative to the Sunn Model T.
Random thoughts: I didn't realize how UN-distorted Luther's guitar sound is...That BASS TONE.....Having seen them live, let me tell you, they sound like the records (yeah!).
I got the black one and replaced the white pickguard with a single-ply black matte pickguard and it looks sick. Also replaced the bridge pickup with the one Christian from Whores uses but the stock was fine. great guitar.
The Gretsch Baritone too. The guitarist from Loethe uses one. I think Premier interviewed on here recently. The old Squier Jazzmaster Baritone too, but those have gone up in price a lot, and go for 1k+ now. I hope they reissue them, like they did with the great Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster.
@@compucorder64 The Firefly Jazzmaster style baritone is amazing. Great specs. There's one currently on Reverb for $250. Sold out on their website. Get one 100%. The listing is " Firefly FFJA Baritone 2024 - Burst " I can't believe the quality and how cool it looks.
@@compucorder64 Check out the new Firefly Jazzmaster baritones. I guarantee they are just as nice as the Squiers. One on Reverb for $250. Great specs. " Firefly FFJA Baritone 2024 - Burst " is the listing.
They're VERY Jesus Lizard/Shellac aren't they! Interesting to have the dreamy guitars in there though, nice touch. The drums, bass and vocals are Touch & Go for dayyyyysss
If you plug the Rusty Box into the “Return” on the Quilter, the Quilter should act like a simple power amp the same way the Sunn Coliseum Slave does, therefore bypassing the pre amp on the Quilter.
Anybody who is watching this and is now interested in getting a Peavey T40. Play it before you buy it. No eBay or Reverb site unseen. Some have that magic and some don't. There are so many electronic variables that I think can cause the instrument to have the pick up lose its ooomph. I bought one on eBay and it just didn't work. The one my buddy bought on the cheap from a store sounded amazing. The one at a Chicago studio sucks, but the bass player in a now defunct Providence band Tinsel Teeth, his sounded and played amazing. I could say for the one Matt from Running used, that one was great. But another Chicago band has one that is a dud. I noticed the ones that just don't have it are most of the time, the black ones. But the Natural and Sunburst ones are mostly the best sounding. I thought this bass lacked a little seeing it was full on volume. D. Sims from the Jesus Lizard was totally coming across on this dude's influences. Which is kind of obvious. But for some reason out of the band mix, that rundown had the pewny T40 sound that still plagues me. Just please, anybody wanting one make sure you play it before buying it.

@@premierguitar Obviously, but that is way too logical of a reason and, frankly, about only half as funny.

This is crazy. They're blowing up big and it's super deserved!
This is def one of the best rundowns you guys done. chat pile rules
So happy for them. I talked to Luther’s dad outside a show about a year ago in Toronto, and he was over the moon that his son is killing it.
0:16 Shame with guitar only sounds epic 🔥

Super cool to hear Luther mention Gorguts! Luc Lemay is a favorite guitarist of mine as well
Watching Chat Pile blow up in real time has been a real treat!
Love seeing bands doing their own thing and getting to the level of a Rig Rundown. Way to be, Chat Pile!
incredible band, damn near flawless discography. really stoked to see this!

We agree, they've got a truly unique sound.
That bass tone just does something to me deep down inside.
Stin’s tone is so gnarly and beefy
This band rules so hard.

Cool World is easily album of the year for 2024
These guys are just so damn cool. Caught them live in November, one of the best shows I’ve ever been to.

Glad you enjoyed it!
Chris is a solid interviewer.....the good Q&A about bringing in an outsider to mix elicited such a good answer & conversation
Glad you liked that part!
I’ve been waiting for this one! Such a great band and such a great rundown. Fantastic work. Album of the year!
CHAT PILE LETS GOOOO
RUclips is prompting me to translate this to English. 😂
So many powerful and haunting riffs from the legends.
This is so unbelievably rad. Absolutely love these fellas.
So good to see such an amazing new band get so much love!
Nice rundown, thank goodness Chris did this
Been hoping they'd do a rig rundown with the boys for awhile, thanks for this!
No problem!
love this band so much

Shows all you need pedal wise is a good dirt pedal, delay and reverb. Excellent video.
What awesome dudes. Such lovely guys who churn out some of the darkest, filthiest music ever recorded. Awesome
Yo! I’m so excited for this! One of my current favorite bands!
most relatable guitar player I've ever seen
Didn't expect this at all! Fantastic surprise!
Finally! Their evolving work is going to carry a lot of people through the next 4 years.
What makes you think 2029 will be any better?
Chat Pile is the perfect band. Great guys too.
So well deserved, fantastic band, all the best for 2025! See you in Europe!
Glad to see Luther Man's Hole and Stink here, it's a success!

They've been on our list for a while!
I love their honesty :) I can so relate to these guys.
HELL YEE!! Luther - this is so dope. - Cousin HG
also that "rubbin' your head, pattin' your belly" part was so funny lol

SICK VIDEO, Luther’s tone for cool world has become one of my absolute favorites
Nice, a Rundown with Chat Pile that also just happens to let me know The End is still kicking!
Babe wake up, chat pile rig rundown just dropped 🥹
Love the T-40! Cool to see these being played out more regularly.
Great rundown! I would die to see a Brutus Rig Rundown someday
The green Joyo compressor is fantastic. Not the squishy normal sound. Sounds more like a studio compressor.
Been waiting on a Rig Rundown from these guys since the Remove Your Skin Please EP. I need to hear that bass tone live
I think Luther has just made me want to get Quilter for both home and rehearsals. Nice!
GRIMAAAAAAAACE
Awesome band and rundown!
Luther is such a unique player. This band is so goood.
From that intro demo, I’m def interested in checking them out more!
I love his philosophy of live recording. Some bands suck out all the soul from their music by over polishing
That section was my fav part of this video. Really great work by the interviewer.
I can see why Luther Manhole’s amp set on fire, he was literally playing straight fire through it every day

New find just recently! Been jammin you guys! Cool to see on RRD. Inspired.

Great segment, and Chat Pile fucking rule
Ahhhh, my favorite jazz band.
his bass being previously owned by a dead country player is just perfect lmao
Of all the bands from Oklahoma, I did not expect to see Chat Pile on here.
Yes!
Hey my ampeg combo caught on fire too
Love these guys. They're dong something original and getting big from it.
