    In terms of capacity you have to remember USA has like 300 million population whereas England is only 55 million so when you see the lower capacity that’s a major factor for example a 60k capacity stadium in England is equivalent to a 300k capacity stadium in the USA in respect to each other’s population (no disrespect just trying to educate you a bit more)

    • @vidalrodriguez2001

      Not necessarily how it works ‘cause it all depends on metro areas in the US as there’s MANY with a population of over 1 Million along with just team’s fanbases in the US just being larger overall compared to the UK. Many teams have whole states that support them, regions even, or nationwide fanbases with the biggest teams(Cowboys, Lakers, Yankees, etc.) it’s nearly guaranteed every professional team has hundreds of thousands of fans, realistically at least over a million+ where every football team can fill out 60-80k football stadiums in the US
      Edit: long story short, the US is spoiled with stadiums for a reason👀

      Definitely not true, most of our country isn’t even populated. Your country is closer packed together meaning you have millions of people nearby, whereas in America you have to build them in heavily populated areas or else you’ll be stuck with no fans in a small town

      @vidalrodriguez2001 3 года назад +1

      @@andrewwood04 oh yeah I know that it’s very regionalized down to the city/city area level in the UK and with European football in general. The US has tens of metro areas the equivalent of the UK’s top 5 at least. My point was mainly that the US has so many big stadiums, and a standard in the MLB, MLS, and NBA of stadiums/arenas of 45-50k, 20k, and 20k capacities respectively just ‘cause there’s so many cities that can support multiple whole leagues of that size. Even though there are cities that struggle with that more than others in filling their stadiums.

    Something interesting that I haven’t seen anyone mention is some building regulations in the UK that influence how stadiums look there. In La Liga Real Madrid’s and Barcelona’s stadiums are very big, 90k and 100k I think, but English stadiums rarely exceed 60-70k people. One of the reasons for this is that in England stadiums are required to have no seats open to the (very frequent) rain, by law there must be a canopy over top, which limits designs and capacity

    You can walk from Liverpool's stadium to Everton's, and they play 19 home games a season, plus cup and european games.
    Not to mention the US has 5 times the population.................

  • @MrChelseaDan
    @MrChelseaDan 3 года назад +8

    There isn’t a need for Premier League stadiums to be as big as NFL stadiums. England has a population of 55.2m people, USA has 329.5m people. The US is also 40x bigger than the U.K., so there’s more room for large stadiums.
    Alaska, Texas, Oregon, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, California and Michigan are all larger than the U.K. . Michigan and Wyoming are only slightly bigger, so to put this video into perspective, imagine all of these stadiums being in either of those states. For those reasons, I don’t think Premier League and NFL stadiums can be truly compared

    • @MrChelseaDan
      @MrChelseaDan 3 года назад +1

      @@pedrogutierrez698 you didn’t read my comment properly… Spain is twice as big as the U.K., so obviously they have more room to have bigger stadiums. Yes, tourists go to games, but a club isn’t gonna add an extra 50k seats to reach 100k for tourists and to be as big as an NFL stadium. A club’s stadium size is based on:
      Size of their fan base
      Geographical limitations
      How much money they want to spend
      For example, Stamford Bridge hasn’t been expanded, since it’s not geographically possible. Stamford Bridge sits right next to a train track, and there are laws in place that prevent buildings and structures of a certain height to be next to that track. That’s why Chelsea wanted to relocate to and transform Battersea Power Station into a new stadium, but Stamford Bridge’s pitch is owned by the Chelsea Pitch Owners, therefore the move couldn’t go ahead unless the owners agreed to it, which they didn’t.
      Please read my comment properly this time and do your research

    • @ryancolby966
      @ryancolby966 3 года назад

      @@pedrogutierrez698 im a bit late by that isnt comparable, la liga attendances are far lower than the premier league despite spain having a higher population and less teams, barcelona and real madrid are outliers due to their cultural relevance as youll know (similar to celtic and rangers), and even they don't get anywhere near full capacity. The english league system goes much deeper than the spanish league system with 5 unregionalised leagues, so lower league teams take more fans away from top flight teams in comparison to us and spain. combine that with historical value of stadiums and that is why some stadiums arent all huge in england.

    The argument is the stadiums are ALOT closer than any American football stadiums in reality. Burnley for example is a town of 75000 people with a 22500 stadium. Within 50 miles you have Man United, man City, leeds, Blackburn, Oldham, preston, Accrington, Blackpool, Fleetwood, Rochdale, Bury (RIP), Bradford, Huddersfield, Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United, Doncaster, Harrogate Town, , Rotherham, Barrow, Morecambe, Liverppol, Everton and Tranmere. That's only in the top 4 divisions with the attendances varying from around 4000 to 75000.

    Branco the thing about these stadiums is that they are local teams. London alone has 13 professional teams so their local fanbase is not that huge. Sure there are stadiums that can support huge numbers in Premier League like Old Trafford but still 100k for a domestic team stadium is very huge. You don't need stadium with 100k seats if its not gonna be packed to create that atmosphere for the team.
    There are stadiums like Camp Nou which support 100k people but capacity hardly matters what matters is the atmosphere. you don't see fans chanting and singing songs for their team throughout the game in NBA or NFL as you commonly see in football.

    As teams can get relegated, smaller teams may prefer keeping the stadium small to reduce maintenance costs since they lose quite a chunk of money in lower divisions

    You gotta remember the history and heritage behind these stadiums, some of them are almost 150 years old.
    They weren’t designed the way they look now, rather additions have been made over the years which is why most of them look lop-sided. It’s to preserve the history.

    To be fair the Americans have like two decent stadiums in the whole state, one for college one for the NFL so the whole state has only two teams, in the UK theres stadiums in every town and some towns have two and some cities have three four or five so it doesn't even compare, a 90000 stadium with no atmosphere is stale AF a 10000 stadium with a good crowd is electric.

    some thing nobody has mentioned is the fact that in the NFL or NBA for instance, relegation is not on the cards. If a smaller premier league club payed for a brand new stadium and then was relegated, chances are the club would be put into large debt. It's something that isn't really worth the risk.

    Tomorrow Bronco gonna take a tour of the white House (1800) and say it's too old, I can't appreciate the architecture, there's no modernism here, let's just break this down and build a new one. A few moments later.... Ends up in prison on charges of Treason.
    Dude appreciate these stadiums, most of them were built in 1800's and they still stand and are well maintained, most importantly still in use.

    But u have to know, the reason why football/soccer stadiums have a small capacity then american football is bcuz there are so many football club in one country or even on one city. For example, london have more than 4 club. And the reason why football stadium is rectangle is bcuz it's england, European architecture man😂

    Most English football clubs are nowhere near as rich as the NFL teams tbh, if they had a Billion dollars in their pocket they would defo build some bold ass stadiums. However! some of these tiny English stadiums have a way better atmosphere than some 80,000 seat NFL stadiums No doubt
