- Randy Santel "Atlas" vs the massive and MEATY 9lb Texas BBQ Sandwich Challenge at Smokin' J's Real Texas BBQ in Gulfport, Florida!! Katina and I decided to kick off our 2021 food challenge touring in Florida, and our February Florida Tour turned into a February & March Florida Tour!! I attempted lots of food challenges all over the state of Florida. For challenge #9, we went to Smokin' J's Real Texas BBQ in Gulfport, Florida and I attempted their massive and meaty 9lb Texas BBQ Sandwich Challenge. I had 1 hour to finish a giant 5-meat barbecue sandwich with 1lb portions of BBQ pulled pork, pulled chicken, smoked Texas beef brisket, and smoked sausage, piled on top of a full 2.5lb boneless rack of baby back ribs. All that was topped with sweet & sassy pickles, jalapeno, and raw red onions, on a 14oz bread bun. I had to have 2 sides, and I went with their healthy green beans along with creamy coleslaw. I was trying to win my $50 BBQ sandwich meal free plus a sweet t-shirt, a custom mug, and the 4th spot on Smokin' J's Wall of Fame, joining my friends Nathan Figueroa, Joel Hansen, and Dan Kennedy. BIG thanks to everyone with Smokin' J's Real Texas BBQ for the extra delicious food, drinks, and hospitality!! Smokin' J's Barbecue's MEATY 9lb Texas BBQ Sandwich Challenge in Gulfport, Florida ($50):
Smokin J's Real Texas BBQ has been serving the Gulport, Florida area for many years now.
This BBQ sandwich challenge features 1lb portions of their barbecue pulled pork, Texas beef brisket, pulled BBQ chicken, and smoked sausage, all on top of a full boneless rack of BBQ baby back ribs.
The challenge originally included a 1lb portion of boneless ribs. Now it can weigh up to 2.5lbs.
The BBQ sandwich is topped with red onions, sweet & sassy pickles, and a fresh raw jalapeno.
It is all served on a 14oz bread bun with 2 sides - I ordered green beans and creamy coleslaw.
There is a 1 hour time limit to finish everything. Only 3 people had previously been able to win.
Winners earn the $50 meal free, a sweet t-shirt, a custom mug, and spot on the Wall of Fame.

I've got stage 4 cancer all through my body, and the reason I can eat while on chemo, radiation, etc, is by watching you eat 9 pound sandwiches. Motivates me to eat my two slices of toast. You're the best, 60 or 62 minutes, you're a huge part in the small victories I have!

I relate. After having Covid last year, Katina's vids helped my appetite. Then Randy's and others. I appreciate these 2 so much because they don't invite drama and always seem to appreciate and enjoy the food.

I always find it funny that some restaurants make their food challenge prize a gift certificate for *more* of their food. It’s like “if you liked eating sixty free cheeseburgers- here’s one hundred more free cheeseburgers”

Looked a bit dry but I've seen worse. At least it wasn't from california or canada.
I would just pay 50 dollars for that much meat. In Texas that would be about 150 dollars. I would cut that brisket up and use it for tacos.

Joel Hansen I swear must have the same genetic x factor as Molly. Judging anyone against them is 1 unfair and 2 a discredit to the man who inspired so many to try competive eater. No one has or probablly going to unseat Randy as king of resataurant challenge wins . that his food capacity has gotten that much is incredible and though Randy is faster than he looks, Joel and Molly are a whole nother level yet. I can appreciate what everyone did without tearing any down. Be nice if everyone kept that attitude. Support for anyone brave enough to try this challenge. Let alone publish for the world to see win or lose. We see trolls hiding online who never will try this talking big. We pay them no mind.

All this MEAT! Sausage, chicken and the pulled is easy, but the boneless rips and brisket without sauce and the giant bun will kill you. I guess XD

Good effort. Mere mortals wouldn't have finished 2lb of that. When you looked at that slab of ribs you had that expression of humility knowing the chef just took the challenge up a notch.

I don't like how these just decide how much is "enough" , they made you lose. You should start carrying a scale around with you to weight the food just for this reason.
