Absolutely love mine, have them for over a year now. Removed the springs and installed a damper (not the cubesim). Work fantastic for GA and airliners but really shine with helicopters!
I agree, great rudder pedals, but brake application resistance is too weak and difficult to control left/right. I attached an extension spring from the upper inner triangle on each pedal to the arm to increase the application force required. Helps, but not ideal.
I had these but I 'upgraded' to the Honeycomb Charlie. the Charlie feels more connected to me personally but the TPR Rudders were good for the last couple of years for GA.
@@g-locmedia the contact point is metal through and through and I think the motion feels better on the Charlie compared to TPR. The Charlie does have plastic but it doesn't feel cheap at all. Compete?!? Really? These are still the out and out king. I’ve been a pilot for over 20 years, military and commercial, and these are the ONLY pedals that feel real. The others are just imitators.
@ no, they’re good. Very well made and Winwing is great overall. They’re just not realistic. I’ve never flown a plane with bottom mounted pedals. Or ones that don’t push straight forward. Virpils and WWs twist in a circular motion which I’ve never seen before.
Great pedals. I considered the Crosswinds, but didn’t really like the rotating axis style that the Winwing and Virpil also use. They are expensive, but I got them for about £350, delivered next day, from Scan I think, a couple of years ago. £350 is what they should really be. I’ve considered the damper mod but am actually happy with them as they are. I got lucky with the price. I also got the Bravo throttle for £150 and the Boeing yoke for just under £250, both from Currys. There were a few bargains to be had a few years ago.
They are on sale on Amazon right now but not for that kind of price. There must have been a price increase a few years back. My bet is it happened at the same time the warthog price went up too. Sounds like you have an awesome setup
Bizarrely Currys had a period of offering really good discounts. I just checked my emails and at one point they had the TPRs for £329, but I just missed out on that deal. I have the TPR since they came out. Installed the strongest springs (both), and I could not be happier! Best rudder pedals I ever had, and most likely the last… Thanks for the review! One question on the dampers: are they adjustable?
Been waiting for this review for a while. I was looking at WinWing due to the fact they’ve got a big discount going on but I’ve noticed that the TPR has had a temporary price reduction. They’re not force feedback I know but if actual fighter pilots swear by them then I’d might as well get em.
I have my Thrustmaster TPR rudder now for couple of years and I like it very much. Don't know about the damper as I have my feet against the rudder as in real flying and didn't miss it.
This might be a foolish question but I know these Rudders have been around for years now. Is it safe to assume that they have been updated throughout the years? hardware and software wise? Is it also safe to assume that you will be getting the latest version of the pedals (not pertaining to software). I ask because spending $599 on a product that was first available on Amazon since 2018 seems a bit much. Now if they have been updated and the latest model is being sold only then I can agree with the price.
@@soccersensation the pedals themselves haven't been updated but the software has over the years however it's such a simple product you'll never need to tinker with the software much at all.
@@g-locmedia Thanks! I can appreciate a simple product made with quality parts not needing to be revised over the years. I'm still tempted to get them though, but will continue to research other options first.
Thanks for this. I'm going to be purchasing new rudders in the near future, and it's down to these or the Orions. Thing is, I'm in Canada. Tax included the Orions with damper are around $500, but the TPRs are around $900, and the Cubesim damper would add another $100.00+ to that. Are they really worth twice the price? I am not hardcore enough to get into the Ruddos, or any kind of FFB, so price being an issue I think the Orions might be the way to go.
Yes I wanted one of this FFB but the money lol so I just went with second best Orion for now I love them and the helicopter feature that comes with them is amazing
I spent the better part of 20 years of my sim lifetime flying WITHOUT rudder pedals because they have been so bad in the past. It's one of those things that really need to be good to give control worth having. Finally I got myself VKB T-rudder mk IV a few years back. Perfect for my seating position and precision without high range of motion. Only thing missing was toe brakes.
I would have gone for the TPRs if I could have fit it with my TR160 dual flight car sim rig. Ended up with Crosswinds instead, still really good and fit on the floor hard mounted on an extra TR pedal plate in front of the Sprints (which are on the elevated plate, GT style, further back) with 1-2mm of clearance left and right. And the universal combat pedal plates themselves have just enough clearance to go under the Sprints plate; sadly not enough room for the Graphite ones though. Love the damper.
it was between this and the honeycomb charlie for me but I ended up buying the charlie because it is cheaper. Functionality wise the charlie is just as good if not better than the TPR. Built-wise I will give it to the TPR for being almost an all metal construction compared to the charlie that is mostly plastic, the good kind of plastic IMO though. Realistic control and feel they are about the same but the Charlie win me over here because it is not a pendular motion but a horizontal push motion which is similar to a lot of aircraft including the A330 that I fly. . Coming from military planes and now flying the airbus A330 and previously the A320 I'd say the charlie and the TPR will not disappoint any flight simmers if they want to experience a close to the real thing equipment.
