Them Monty's pickups sound great, i hear that they are slightly brighter than the Gibson pickups,i think i will get a set for my Les Paul.

To my ears the Montys are not so much clearer but rather they have a more immediate and more forward attack and have more presence while the custombuckers have a slower attack and more bloom and this is Likely due to differences in magnets . The CB's have Alnico 3 magnets which are actually the weakest magnet grade and are actually weaker then A2 magnets but the A3 was created after A2 which is why it's A3 despite being weaker. Alnico 3 magnets are actually Alni magnets as they contain no cobalt. They were created in the 50s in Response to cobalt shortages as cobalt was being prioritized for military equipment because of the arms race and the cold war
So if the Montys have a different magnet then A3 they will have a Stronger faster and more immediate attack.

Those were my thoughts as well. The montys sound like the Arcane triple clone 57 set I have in one of my les pauls, it's open and airy but still a little more compressed than the custom lbuckers in my 58 Murphy Lab. The ML sounds better than any guitar i have so it's hard to think the montys are better. I'll have to try a set and see for myself

There was so much variation in the the original Pafs that no 1 modern replica will nail all of the Paf tones . The custombuckers might Sound closer to 1 original set of Pafs while the Montys might sound closer to another set of real PAFs

@@rollysguitars thank you for your quick answer! :) I googled a bit and saw that the 2020 ’59 Les Paul comes with unpotted pickups as well. Furthermore Gibson sells the 1960 60th Anniversary with 3 different neck shapes... I think I will try many guitars! Greetings again 🙏🏼
