I saw Adam with Norah two times. I was really impressed with his playing which is something I don’t say often. It probably sounds stupid but I can usually tell the difference between a good musician and a good human. Adam is both and so is Norah. Thanks Otis.
I sat next to Norah Jones Grandmother on Norah’s first tour in Nashville. Grandma was telling me they were excited to be getting out of a van an into their new bus. I listened to stories and shared choc covered raisins with Grandma. Norah was wonderful and her Band was raw being pushed by the crowd to fly high. A Night I will never forget , thanks Grandma!
Possibly the only man on Earth who turned down smoking a doob with Willie AND playing b-ball with Prince. Lol.What a wonderful man. Another great interview Otis!
Aww! I was privileged enough to call Adam a friend when he was based in the SF Bay Area back in the early-mid 90s. Listening to this informal chat brings back warm memories of just hanging out, listening to jazz on vinyl, and talking for hours with open hearts. Genuine innovator as a musician and a damn fine human. Thanks Otis!
I met her in Seattle after a show right before her first record broke mega huge... She was so friendly and down to earth! Crazy talented; and just about to take a rocket ride to the stratosphere of the music world.
Adam is a great guest and musician. His story about working with Norah Jones is very well told. They sound like great people to work with and be a part of their circle. Enjoyed the interview very much!
I believe this is the man I saw with his band at the Livery in Benton Harbor MI and I never forgot him even though it was a long time ago. He was plugged at the time as Norah's guitar player. He is one of the very most amazing guitar players I've ever heard. He played some stuff that sounded Middle Eastern and he was just so great. I've often thought about and remembered that show. Amazing!
Adam Levy is as kind and heartfelt in this interview as his playing would indicate. I fully understand why Dave Mathews would want to hang with him. As a fan, the ability to hang with artists after the show is a rare and magical gift. Much heartfelt condolences for the loss of his wife. His stories here made me admire Norah and the members of her band even more.
What a great conversation. I don't know Adam Levy, but I know him better now after this video. He seems like a man to be friends with. Thanks very much Otis.
She and that early band were amazing. I saw her in 2003, and was blown away. The next time I saw her she played guitar on “Jesus, etc…”. I was stunned at how brilliant she was live.
My son was in North Texas University when she was there. He said she was a very nice, grounded person. Of course everyone knew her famous dad. Wonderful interview!! Thank You Otis. I love her duet with Jerry Lee on his duets album.
Otis, another interview hit out of the park. You never interrupt anybody when they are telling their stories. Just a joke or question that keeps flow going. Thanks
That was a fantastic interview. I don't want to call it an interview because Otis is so good at letting people just talk and tell their story. Adam seems like a really cool dude.
I only know Nora from the Everly Brothers tribute album she did with Billy Joe…it’s wonderful! I’ll be looking for more of her work. Terrific interview. Thanks for not interrupting the conversation…yes we care about that! 😊
I loved your talk with Adam. I've known him for decades. We go back to when he was teaching guitar at the NGSW. He's the sweetest guy and a great player. Thanks for posting this chat. Loved it! 😎👍👍

What a nice interview, great story from Adam who is very well spoken. I had the chance to see Nora and did not go, I always wished I would had. Thanks again Otis!
Ha I met her at a little bar in Deep Ellum Dallas before she went to New York. In my mind she was already a star then. I was the only one there so we talked. I was very impressed with how mature down to earth and gracious and generous she was. Often performers have somewhat of a facade. These descriptions are so much like I remember it is refreshing.
Adam Levy comes across as such a kind, articulate, generous person in this video. I love how he speaks so kindly about Norah Jones, and is so humble about his contributions to her early success. There is no ego in him, and in his soft-spoken, clearheaded way, he tells the incredible story of Norah Jones' early career. What a great video to find here.
Noah is one of the more celebrated graduates of North Texas State University (now, North Central University) and absolutely took the World by storm with "Don't Know Why." Jesse Harris wrote that and "One Floor Down," and a number of other wonderful songs. NTSU was in Denton, and not Dallas, but that doesn't matter. She is wonderful.
Although he does say she's from Dallas, at 8:23 he states "she went to North Texas, in Denton..." Ok he left out the "U", but yeah,Norah went to UNT. I've never heard of "North Central University" in Texas. There is a North Central community college, and if you show me she went there, I'll admit my mistake. You are correct that the university she went to was once called North Texas State, but I'm pretty sure it became UNT in the late '80's, and she wasn't there til the late '90's. Again, correct me if I'm wrong. Anyway, UNT claims her as their alumni.
Hi Otis. Ive always had a feeling that Norah Jones is a really cool person and this clarifies it. Adam tells a heartfelt story about working with her. Very cool. Thanks as always for the wonderful content.
I've seen Adam play with her and his touch and feel is amazing. I love when the sound fills the room and you can't really tell whose playing what unless you key in.❤
I remember meeting Adam & Norah after a great gig in Paris, the first time they were in Europe. It was a small jazz club, and I remember somebody in the band, maybe Adam, maybe Norah, said: it won't get bigger than this. Well, were they wrong. I met the band later in Montreal and things had changed indeed - it was right after the Prince concert Adam mentions. And it's true, it was fun talking with Adam!
Great to finally know what actually happened with Nora my old friend Adam. Thanks for producing such a smooth interview video with a very cool, articulate, talented and kind person.
I love her music and her musicians! I remember listening to her first record for the first time. Boy! Perhaps it’s because I’m a bassplayer myself, but I really love the bass on her songs! Beautiful. 🖖
What a surreal gig to go thru that arch from club to Matthews, Willie to headliner with Norah Jones..She really made Jazz accessible for the average consumer much in the same way Chet Baker or Sergio Mendes did back in the day. I don't know if you knew about her duet album with Billy Armstrong but it's really good covering Everly Brothers post Plant / Kraus first project. I'm thinking that somebody was seeing if they could get that two genres collide thing like Plant/Kraus but it didn't get as big at all. It's still good.
This is a gem of an interview. I love everything about Norah Jones. She is my all time favorite singer. I got to see her last summer in Richmond, VA, what an awesome show. Thanks so much for posting this!
This was so very special. I had just finished watching Nora and Lukas Nelson do their pod cast and this followed it was a gift that magically married the Two...Isn't life wonderful...Long time Saturday Coffee fan. NYC
Man Otis, This Guy is such a rowdy Loud mouth, Rude and condescending ! NOT ! Hes the nicest guy in the World !!! Besides you Otis! Thanks for sharing:-)
What a class act Adam is. He’s doing a song writing workshop and a show with the Mints after at a performing venue and school (Stages) I’m affiliated with on Saturday in Baltimore. So I wish I could go, but it’s a crazy weekend not to mention Bruce Springsteen in town same day Adam’s in town and I was invited to that. Great problems to have, I know. Hope to see Adam somewhere soon! Thanks for another great video, Otis!
Really great interview and perspective.. there’s something to be said about refreshing your band and music… it has nothing to do with loyalty.. it can be a hard pill for a loyal sideman to take, feeling they’ve dedicated a large portion of their life to supporting someone’s success. But, as an artist (or any kind of musician, really) there comes a time when change is healthy and it may be difficult to see in the moment but a truly dedicated artist or musician must be fed and they need new muses and inspiration. The funnest part of being in a touring act is the ride to something greater than imagined and it may only come along once or twice in a career but, it’s always the most fun… the down side is when it turns into work and becomes less fun and less stimulating.
Long time subscriber of Adam’s. Just the best. And Otis, one of the best interviews ever. Quite a story, or stories really. You know your core community clearly. This is the stuff we crave. Music!
What a great guy and a great interview. Adam is thoughtful, down to earth, humble, interesting, GREAT stories, real, low-key and a ga-jillion other awesome adjectives.

Pancakes and blouses as well
Adam seems like such a sweet guy. Thanks for letting us hang out, Otis!
What a kind, sweet, humble and incredibly talented cat! Both Mrs. Jones and Mr. Levy seem like class acts. Thank you for sharing this!
Miss Jones. Mrs Jones is her mother.
She comes off has extremely nice and real on her podcast. The way she handled so much success so young was truly impressive.
Kindness is beautiful. What a gentle soul, the music and the man are a gift , a great blessing. Highly enjoyable interview, thanks!
Wow Norah had them write songs for her album, that speaks volumes about who she is.......this guy is a gem.
What a sweet,humble,talented man..👍🏼❤️

Adam is the definition of a tasteful guitarist. His Truefire courses are gems.
I saw Adam play with Nora in Madrid 2002 and after the gig the whole band and a group of us went across the street for a pizza. Lovely guy.
I met her in Seattle after a show right before her first record broke mega huge... She was so friendly and down to earth! Crazy talented; and just about to take a rocket ride to the stratosphere of the music world.

Thank you Otis Gibbs, as a music journalist and interviewer you are at the top of the game 👍
Great storytelling here and not surprised to hear that Norah was a class act.

Yeah she is awesome. I saw her at Neil young's bridgeschool
Benefit back in the 90s. She is a gem .
My son was in North Texas University when she was there. He said she was a very nice, grounded person. Of course everyone knew her famous dad. Wonderful interview!! Thank You Otis. I love her duet with Jerry Lee on his duets album.
Great interview. I had the pleasure of chatting to Adam after a Norah Jones show at La Cigale in Paris 2002. Such an accomplished musician.
Otis, another interview hit out of the park. You never interrupt anybody when they are telling their stories. Just a joke or question that keeps flow going. Thanks
The Di Niro hug! I love it. Only in an Otis Gibbs interview!

Lovely understated guitarist complimenting the singing and piano so beautifully ..
Adam, you’re a gem. It was nice to spend some time together.
Mr Levy seems like a really lovely man.
Thank you for a wonderful interview.
Otis,
Thanks! This guy is so modest, such good stories.
Sweet man and good back ground story teller and glad for the female artist Nora Jones and early band members .

I’m not a big Dave Mathews fan (not that I don’t like his music) but this story doesn’t surprise me at all, stand up guy!!
Wow what a great story. And great story teller too. Thanks so much Adam…. And of course you too Otis

Everything about this guy screams (whispers) great musician. I play bass with Rhiannon Giddens and I can relate to everything he says. Solid dude.
Jason Sypher? I'm a fan of your work! ... nice to meet you ... R (Australia)
I really enjoyed this one. Adam is such a genuine person. I never knew Norah Jones and her band started from such humble beginnings.
I remember meeting Adam & Norah after a great gig in Paris, the first time they were in Europe. My buddy , bassist Tony Scherr, was involved with that record. I agree with you..
What a nice, humble man. He handled that success well. His experiences with Nora also make me respect her all the more.
Great interview. A real musician & seems like a nice guy too. A rare combination.

Adam's live solo over "Help me make it through the night" is one of the best solos I ever heard.
This is a gem of an interview. I love everything about Norah Jones. She is my all time favorite singer. I got to see her last summer in Richmond, VA, what an awesome show. Thanks so much for posting this!
Priceless

Adam's 'In The Morning' is my favourite song on her second album! 😊
So great to start a day with stories about someone like this. It also says a lot about Adam.

I was lucky enough to catch the show(s) at Red Rocks... :):)
Wonderful interview
An old friend from high school, Danny Reiser, was her drummer for some time. He’s a ridiculously fine player.
Norah knows how to pick a band.
This is such a wonderful & life affirming interview
