You needed a amount of points in the skill to activate it, and you could have steps in the skills (for a better skill). You also could have negative skills, and decoration to put in you armor pieces (if the piece had a slot, or 2, or 3) to increase skills points (and every decoration had at least one negative point in a skill).

Monsters don't need insurance, look at Daimyo Hermitaur and Shogun Ceanataur : when they have their shell broken by hunters they just find another one. See? No need for homeowner's insurance.
I've on some occasions harvested the livers from those wild goat things and they still walk away just fine. Truly resilient creatures. But seriously it's so nice to have an actual game that runs well from the get-go.

Proceeded to just walk over, cap the by then sleeping monster, check a hunt off the list and collected full rewards. Nice
