As an American expat living here in the Philippines, I can tell you I feel safer keeping my money in a Philippine bank rather than a US bank at present. I also get a much higher interest rate on my savings account here than the US.
I'm surprised to hear that some people here are using Mrs. Anna trading strategy! I met her 2 months ago and it was a great pleasure to work with her. Bravo to be part of his winning team.

philippine banks have to be one of the most cautious in the world when it comes to lending money, always demanding collateral and very quick to chase outstanding debts.
I'm the kind of person who gets easily bored and moves on after 10-15 seconds. Pero so far, lahat ng videos ni Mr. Rex Mendoza, surprisingly, natatapos ko kahit more than 1hr pa. I think one glaring reason is the connection he makes when he speaks. I have a new favorite channel now and that is Rampver!

I might be unaware, but I never heard from my parents that a bank run has happened in the Philippines. Just to be ready, I think we need to just maximize our deposits by 500K in one bank and then deposit to a different one. This is to maximize the PDIC 500k insurance if this happens.
Yung Urban Bank at Banco Filipino. But they're not really major banks. They're just thrift banks.
Your unaware lmao my bankrun na ngyare dito sa pilipinas hahahaha my optics yang us banks sa pinas kahit nga maganda economy ng pilipinas ng nakaraan sa pse sumabay pa den sila sa inflation ng us e😂

superb explanation of banking system!!! Just on time since matindi ang paparating na changes sa banking system ng US and maybe to the rest of the world as well..Thank you sir for the education !!! Keep it flowing !!!
Thank you for this timely info. Except of course if may corruption like what rcbc did sa educ insurance nila and filed bankruptcy to run away from their obligation and remain rich until now, after pinaglaruan iyon processo. But for other banks, they are very conservative, magulang pero hindi corrupt. That's my take.
Thanks for this informative article. Kaya rin po nag sara ang mga banko sa U S at Europe ay dahil po sa fractional banking system na sinosonod whereby if a depositor has deposited 100 USD the banks are legally allowed to lend 90 USD out of that deposit kaya kung may bad news sa isang bangko at nawalan ng tiwala ang mga depositor/s kaya nagkaroon ng bank runs. The system is bound to fail its just a question of when and when is already unraveling now and Europe is nxt and so on. God for id, this could be a worldwide phenomenon. I would like to ask if safety deposit box is safe? Which I doubt.
Sa nangyayari ngayon mula nung nagkapandemic, talagang intent nila magkaroon Ng "major global crises (in plural form)" dahil alam nating nagkaisa lahat mula mainstream media to gov't officials naging iisa lng bukambibig nila. At lahat Ng kumontra, sisirain nila. Ngayon, tandaan Po natin lahat Ng banking system Kasama na satin, hawak Po Yan Ng central bank. Ibig sabihin pg may order Yung organization na "it's time to start the one world government" yan po ang time na kailangan mgkaroon Ng major global crises.
Haay sana direct to the point na,but to stress that what ever happens to the world market is felt globally, kaya nga mas maganda mag ingat at wag mag rely sa banks too much, if you have noticed ATMs are usually out of service since nag pandemic...ask yourself why this has been a trend.
very good layman's explanation. I'm US based but was wondering about the spread between Phil treasury notes ( 2 yr 6.017%) vs average Phil bank interest rate (5.75%). real estate max is 10% allowed but where are the other assets in reserves invested in, i am assuming Phil t bills, what maturities? the Phil central bank like other countries central banks are still increasing rates. at how much of an interest spread will it become attractive to a retail and or institutional depositor to withdraw their money and buy treasuries directly which is the factor in the collapse of the us regional banks mentioned. how easy is it to buy t bills individually or through money market funds in the Philippines? as mentioned govt treasury notes are good quality assets IF held to maturity but any bond's mark to market will always do poorly in a rising rate environment.

the Philippines survived the 2008 financial crisis because we have learned our lessons, as long as people are swayed by so called financial expert which are the culprit in most major financial collapse, its vicious cycle will repeat over and over again, when experts use other people money to feed their greed things go south.

Good explanation sir. I applaud you for that. But there are other things too that wasnt mentioned. Like we dont have any information on the external debt exposure of our local banks to outside creditors, because they are denominated in dollars. We all know interest rates have risen up in the past 2 years, so is the debt they owe to external creditors. We dont know what international bank they owe it too. or how much exposure they have. Also, I think the rise in loan in the country was not due to capex or new investments, but rather a lifeline or creditline extension to existing bussinesses to ease out the effects of the pandemic and inflation. Now banks to charge additional ATM fees to add to margins and also Repo markets for cars are on the rise too, which are tell tale signs. Here are just my $ 50-cent concerns that we should look into.
Nice video. What I find missing is discussing the level of bad debts/non-performing loans, non-performing assets of banks. There is also a report on increasing loss reserves which could mean a possible avoidance of financial distress. How about p/e and yields that investors should consider??
