So glad you got to review this finally, I absolutely love mine. Interestingly I've been especially enjoying listening to vinyl with it, something about it just feels so real and natural specifically on Immanis vs my other headphones with vinyl.
In my own (immanis owner) opinion it might be because the immanis is so hellishly transparent + a little cranky on high frequencies that it could highlight the slight edge of digital audio, and so maybe like a little better the natural fullness of vinyl?
Thanks a lot for the video! Good to see the comparisons with the best of the best. I've spent a little bit of time with the old Orpheus and Shangri La Sr and wanted to find headphones with similar technical abilities, but more weight and low end - and seemingly here they are. In January I'll see if they pair well with Primavera - fingers crossed.
Thanks again for a great video ! See you are using Audirvana. Curious if you are using 'forced upsampling' at all, and if.. what settings do you advise ? I'm using A on a iMac connected to the Ferrum Wandla.
@@audiobean I only utilise up on playing with HQ player and ROON, sorry not audir Also, the M scaler comes in very handy when it comes back around occasionly
Agree, it's very amp dependent and chain dependent. Previously, you had to build into Susvara to get the most out of it, but Immanis takes it to another level. Immanis changes more per amp than any headphone I've tried. Personally, I prefer it on tubes as it really pulls out the fullness of tubes and I've tried it on 465. This is the first headphone that can do what estats do, but does it better and you don't have to give up your chain to get there.
You are the best Koji. In the loudspeaker audiophile world there is an old adage that says to spend the bulk of your budget on loudspeakers. Headphones, it seems, don’t adhere to this rule of thumb. What is your opinion on this?
@@jonandresen1483 yes, I agree with that assessment in regards to speakers, In the lower category of hi-fi, I recommend the same, But the summit category, it’s literally split into thirds for me sometimes the equipment surpass the transducer, because they are so transparent, as a rule. everything you hear comes through basically, crap in, crap out.

To be honest at this point it seems smarter to invest in a modern TOTL IEMs chain like Fugaku, Storm, APX Se or Trailli Ti then over ears hps all of the compromises each of them requires of you to make. All of the mentioned make much less compromise and are a more complete transducers than current TOTL HPs. Yes Immanis has tremendous amounts of detail, its just stupid how detailed it is, the stage is the best I heard in a hp yet, but the detail and stage is not everything as we all know. I cant second that Immanis is capable to render intimate setting and bring the singer close to you like Susvara Unveiled or Susvara OG can. The singer is always distant, the mids are always far away, sometimes you want to grab the instruments and drag them more forward - but you cant, you are in a giant space and every thing is further away from you. Sometimes it works beautifully, more often than not with my recordings it I just have been craving for more intimacy. I tested it on my own RO with WE300b and on a AIC-10, aswell as with an Elrog (ER300b) / WE300b and on a Bliss at a friend of mine. Immanis had way too recessed distant mids and worked only with certain genres of music really well with its giant stage, 610g was too much for me to be it a comortable daily driver. Impressive technology and a good headphone nevertheless, just be prepared to invest more into a second complimentary like Susvara (Unveiled) / Abyss 1266 TC, Valkyria or other to fill the gaps.
Immans changes significantly between amps, even summit tier so you will need to build into it with your specific tastes. Even RO XL, WA33 or Viva 845 will each be different from each other so if you like it or not, will greatly depend what you hear it on. But I agree, it is a headphone that can do what only estats do on resolution, yet give you the fullness of bass they can't.
@@rogerhuston8287 yes it does, thats why I tested it with amps listed above. The core characteristic of giant stage and distant mids is impossible to change by the chain, at least I couldnt do so on the TOTL systems I tried with even with the most initimate sounding tube setups.
@@ConvinceMeAudio you can drive iems just aswell from desktop gear with fantastic results. P6 Pro is a good entry level TOTL dap though. Portable EA4 AMP by Luxury & Precision aswell as Lp6 AE TI are very good for mobile use. As for transducer, MAD24 was fun when it came out there much much better IEMs today. Storm, Fugaku, APX Se and Trailli Ti with a high end cable like Sovereign Symphony 4w or 8w will blow your mind and you will seriously start to ask yourself if a totl chain with all the cables, expensive DAC and a 10k Immanis or a Sus Unveiled been worth it. Currently selling my RO (never heard RO XL though) switching to a purely mobile chain with a couple of daps and EA4 for now.

It's a pretty transparent transducer, for a headphone. Which means it will show the warts of the upstream components even more. Crap in, crap out.
