Sasha Pieterse was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome a few years ago which is a hormone imbalance that caused her to gain 70 pounds. Now although she looks beautiful at any size, Sasha opened up last night on Dancing With the Stars, about how difficult that transformation was to make especially in the public eye where she was constantly judged.
She went on to say QUOTE - "Finally, I knew what this was happening to me. It's not an easy road, but being able to focus on getting myself healthy again and the fact that I'm seeing results now and getting better is all I can ask for.” Since joining Dancing With the Stars, Sasha has already lost 15 pounds which is absolutely amazing and she said that she’s feeling like herself again.
Sasha and Gleb performed a samba to Hailee Steinfeld’s “Most Girls” to which judge Carrie Ann said QUOTE - "Most girls are sitting at home thinking, 'I wanna be like you,' that's what's happening right now. The best part of being a judge on this show is watching someone like you really blossom into yourself. You are great out there." Check out Sasha workin’ it:
Sasha spoke about how meaningful the song was for the performance saying QUOTE - "I love the song because it really resonates with me about what I've been through, and what I'm still going through.” Sasha and Gleb scored a 22 out of 30 and following the performance, Sasha told DWTS co-host, Erin Andrews QUOTE - "I feel like I've always been a happy person and I've been so blessed with an amazing family and friends, but I went through a hard time. So, feeling like me again means the world, honestly." She went on to say that it is important for her to share her story in order to raise awareness because so many women have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, but don’t know it and therefore don’t catch it in time which is problematic because it can lead to ovarian and breast cancer if not treated properly. Sasha is definitely such an inspiration and is just beaming on the show. Very happy for her. What do you guys think about her powerful story? I don't mind her gaining weight.. But it was so weird to me that Alison was on the heavier side because she used to shame Hanna for it.. Didn't fit the role..

Yes but the problem isn’t that ur not just happy with ur weight. The weight causes loss of periods, infertility. Painful cyst on ur ovaries that can make u cry when ur out in public. Excessive hair growth on ur body, balding on ur head, acne. Emotional cuz of the hormones. And dieting (which is hard cuz even when u eat healthy u still gain weight and can’t lose it because if this illness) but u have to work twice as hard or else u will keep suffering these effects as well as not being able to have a family in the future. So no it’s not okay to stay that size and do nothing about it. It’s enough there’s no cure for this or known cause to why it happens in some women and u have to try all u can to help with it becomes doctors can’t do anything.

I also struggle with PCOS and have had some criticism for my weight, and I've hadn't had very much success so far with losing but I am hardly gaining now. But it depresses me that people think it's an "excuse to be fat" and its not, I can eat good and work my butt of and I hardly lose anything. But I'll continue to fight this and I won't give up, thank you Sasha for inspiring me.

Sarah Usilton I have PCOS and even tough I do not struggle with overweight I do have other problems and it's so difficult to explain how we feel and nobody understand how hard it's when they keep asking and making the same stupid comments about things and don't realize how much it hurts

research fasting. I hv underuactive thyroid/ hashimoto. could not lose fat. Vegetable fast helped. it not only helps with ur weight but restarts your body. it keeps u younger longer. Meds did not help much with horrible symptoms. The fast made me feel so much better. I followed fast by dr ewa dabrowska but doctors in true north practice it at their health center as well

I love Sasha. I also have PCOS and struggle a awful lot with my weight. I always hated myself because i couldn't seem to lose the weight how much I tried. I just got diagnosed last november and I feel so happy that I know what it is. To see Sasha so happy and so beautiful gives me so much self esteem. She really is a role model 💜

I was diagnosed with PCOS too, November 2015, and it's been such a struggle losing weight and being able to gain control of your life and trying to feel beautiful. It takes a huge toll on you physically and mentally. Months before I got diagnosed, I had already switched my diet to vegetarian/pescatarian and I've been on it ever since. I eat so healthy and work out but nothing seems to help. Thank you Sasha for being so brave about this. You're beautiful and a true inspiration.

I relate so much!!! I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 16. It is such a stuggle to maintain your weight on the "typical" American diet. Go Sasha for keeping your head up in all of this!! Being in the public eye is SO NOT easy. You look fantastic!

I myself was also diagnosed with polycystic ovaries at the age of 17 and now I'm almost 20 and through that period I gained almost 12 kg. It's completly normal and it's a side effect from the treatment. I think that she's beautiful no matter what size she is and the most important thing is her health and how she's feeling.
