I'm not even a fan of Johnny Hallyday, but I have to admit that "the taulier" was one hell of a showman! You can deny it. It's like Mylene Farmer, there is something when you see her live, a totally different scale! Music, light, pyro... Simply amazing! Enjoy artists live, guys, that's where the magic is!!! :D

Good evening ! I am French and a big fan of Johnny like almost all French, and it is touching to see you adore and make a relevant, objective analysis but above all with a lot of passions, and I have only one thing to say: Thank you from the bottom of the heart. And to make you discover even more the beauty, and to see your brilliant reactions, I advise you "Mirador" between him and his son, "I promise you", to my taste his most beautiful song, "On my life", song of Charles Aznavour which he took over after the victory of the Blues in the 1998 football world cup, and the legendary duet between his ex-wife Sylvie and him dzns 2 songs by Edith Piaf! There you go, it was to share for you above all, and I wish you the best, you are doing a wonderful job, and long live Johnny

This song comes from the 1998 album “Ce que je sais”. The studio version is my favorite. During the recording of this album Johnny had blown 2 microphones because his voice was so powerful!!

Dereck, I love your reactions. I am tell you this for your culture of Johnny Halliday.
There is movie call ( Jean Phillipe ). Jean Phillipe is Johnny Halliday born name.
The movie a fable is about a middle age man who is a dye hard Holliday,
Fan. One day he wakes up and Johnny Halliday doesn’t exist. To is despair he start looking for him, and to his astonishing find, Johnny is a cleaning man in a hotel. So he goes to all lengths to try to make him the star that he is supposed to be. The movie ending is fantastic.
Me being French Canadian , I don’t know if they have a English Version but, if they do look it up it is fantastic.

Time to react to Pacal OBISPO now.,the composer(You've already reacted to"L'envie d'aimer")
Even if he had a successful solo carreer and composed for a lot of stars , he' so underrated and even mocked Mostly because of his look . (You' ll judge if it's justified)Super creative ,
He completely modernised the French music industry that was super cheesy and low quality since the 90's. He brought back great instrumentations.
He Mixed violins piano instrumentation in pop AND rock song in such a beautiful way (especially in his firsts albumes )way ,that everybody copied him after that. But never had the (real ) recognition.. 😥 Especially in his firsts albums.

      Hello,
... mmm, you still have to put it into perspective.
Much of his music and song arrangements are inspired by Polnareff (and others like Queen, but less so than Polnareff). He recognizes it himself.
Besides, he even made a song of it: *"Fan"* where it's written black on white if you read the lyrics.
We didn't wait for him to "modernize" the French music industry. Others have done it before him and even with more talent; Berger, Balavoine, Sanson, Goldman, J.M. Jarre, Farmer (Boutonnat), Polnareff precisely, and many other composers who are less known but just as effective ...
I'm not saying he's not talented, but he's not *The Modernizer* as you imply.
Besides, what did he bring that didn't exist before him?
      Cdt,

Hi Dereck! Thanks for your react on Johnny Hallyday. This song "Allumer Le Feu" (Light The Fire) is one of his songs for the stage, and which comes back again and again on each of his tours.
It is one of the classics of Johnny's repertoire and of the "essentials" composed by Pascal Obipso and Pierre Jaconelli, lyrics by Zazie.
In 1998, this song which appears on his 41st studio album "Ce Que Je sais" (What I Know), was only ranked no.39 in TOP 50 and in 2019 when he passed away (December 5th), it made its debut again and reached 10th place in France.
For your NEXT REACT, I recommend you songs by Jean-Jacques Goldman in 1986 taken from his album "Gang" such as "J'Oublierai Ton Nom" (I'Ll Forget Your Name") in duo with CARMEL(English female singer with her hit "Sally" in 1986) and Je Te Promets (I promise You) in 1987 (all songs composed in 1986) and of course LAURA, the same year, a song for his daughter (born November 15, 1983, 2 years before you and Scorpio like you !! ^^😉😄😅 ). For me this album "Gang" is the BEST in 80's and songs are beautiful especially "J'Oublierai Ton Nom", music video shot in Gabon, with Jean-Jacques Goldman's friend whom you saw in the "Pas Toi" (Not You) videoclip.
Thanks for your great work our Frenchie American dude. 👍🇫🇷
