While it's great that Ali won the Tony, it sucks that Radio City couldn't accommodate a wheelchair ramp for her to get on stage so she could hug her castmates before accepting her Tony!
I sometimes use a wheelchair and ramps can be very very steep (I actually nearly flipped over once). The RCH stage is high up and a high ramp could endanger Ali and the around her.
Dara Ann Radio City has the money. They have the money, They have the Rockettes.. They may argue heritage. However, they knew they were hosting the Tonys. Knew who was nominated May have even knew in advance the winners, so they had time to plan, to ensure the stage was accessible.
I agree with what Emily said. I’ve been to the Tonys and while yes, they should have had a ramp, it’s impossible during the broadcast. The area where the stairs are is super cramped. Barely enough room for cameras to move through. If they tried to put a ramp it would make it even harder for the audience to get to their seats and for the camera men to run through without hitting someone. I saw a camera man almost whack the actor sitting right in the middle infront of the stairs twice. If they were gonna come up with a solution it would’ve been a steep ramp that could’ve hurt Ali.
She seems like such a beautiful soul

It is sad and a problem in many places. Either places are too old to change like radio City or they don't have the money to do it.
jasobres She was backstage. She could have come out.
