I kinda hate when Alita is compared to the freaking Dahlia. Like, COME ON! Dahlia was set to be "the big bad" from the beginning of the third game. She was in three out of five cases, plus had a background one! She is demon in the flesh! And Alita? Get serious, guys! She's one-time villain in one, mostly filler case. Give her some slack!!! I would even argue that she's actually refreshingly grounded villain. She has a set-in-reality motive, she's put up a decent fight for a case 2 villain, there was a few good twists in her(like the irony of her taking us as a defence attorney or that she was also attacked), there was at least some sympathetic parts to her, but she was extremely realistic anyway. Plus, i personally find her design kinda pretty. Yea, she isn't that flashy, but... Let's be honest. When was the last time our killer had actually realistic motives, more or less calm design and wasn't a total psyco or a joke caracter? You would be surprised, BUT THE LAST TIME WE HAD A VILLAIN LIKE THAT WAS NOT EVEN IN T&T, BUT IN *JFA*! You can argue which character exactly fits the bill, but you can't deny that. Because T&T just mostly forgot about what a "realistic villain" even is! Dahlia is, ofc, out of the question. Luke Atmey was a whack. And Furio was an extremely comedic villain. Even Kristoph had a veil of misteriousness around him. Alita was the first grounded and set in reality villain *in quite a while*. But after the whole third game, which was outstanding despite its "unseriousness", people were just a bit spoiled with flashy, in all aspects, villains. Be honest with yourself, people. You just bashing her after she failed your expectations to be "as unique as T&T characters, or at least to live up to Dahlia's legacy of «inocent outside, mean inside» shtick to a T". And after that you were disappointed. Because of your own and VERY hight expectations. Which WOULD be ruined sooner or later anyway! Because it's impossible to always go bigger and louder than before. One day, you would have to turn it down a notch. It's just so happens that it happened with Alita, of all people. Let us not ridicule her as someone she had the potential to be, but appreciate her as someone she already is. And who is she? She's a young woman that desired some thrills in her life and a fat wallet filled with money(as .any people would like). Who was intelligent enough to manipulate not only her "husband", but his parents as well. Who can be imagined as a real person in our world unlike T&T cast of villains. And finally, who's perfectly played her past as a bit of the game's overall theme of "betrayal". Let us just enjoy the game as is. #Respect_Alita
I respect the essay on why she's a good character, however, I don't think anyone in the ace attorney fandom cares about a reasonable/grounded/realistic villain, because an unrealistic villain is entertaining. You brought up good points, but the large basis of your argument is kinda flawed imo, I think if people cared about realistic villains, they wouldn't be in the AA fandom to begin with. Although I do agree that a realistic villain is somewhat refreshing
I forgive the Edgeworth slander only because the "Hmmm. It turns out I'm bisexual." bit made me laugh very hard. And yes, even as a fan of Edgey, he is a boring af person.
Not just in Ace Attorney either. Aside from like, twice in the first game, once in the second game, and then once in the third game, I ended up either loving every killer in the Danganronpa series, or at least loving their murder plan.
Just because you didn’t find it entertaining when he found himself pathologically incapable of backing down from a staring contest with his reflection doesn’t mean you need to climb a hill with a bayonet.
Objection! The one interesting thing about Edgeworth is his despising of murderers due to the death of his father. He’d never be attracted to one, or at least attracted enough to ignore a 10+ year age gap with someone who is younger than his sister and his assistant that he gets in the Investigations games. Let him look over the court record one more time and go “Oh my, literally the only thing interesting about you is that you are just barely old enough to not count as a bratty teenager. Never mind.” But yeah, everything else is spot-on, or at least I’ll give it a pass because it’s funny, and this is hilarious.
Apollo's grandfather could be a clairvoyant, and his grandmother a space alien with hair antennae, and it wouldn't make Apollo more interesting. He could've been born inside a volcano and have a talent for stunt biking, and maybe Klavier would give a small nod to him.
Now I would take Apollo over Athena any day. I basically had to force myself to get through DD and I'm kind of feeling the same with SoJ. It might just be that Shu Takumi wasn't the one who directed those ones and so it has a different feel to it, but like it just has a different vibe and I can't really get into those like I can the trilogy and AJAA. I sped through AJAA in like a weekend and I'm kind of sad that I did that as he isn't really relevant in DD and I'm still on the first trial for SoJ but I know you play as him and his back story comes into play a lot in that game.
I haven’t finished spirits of justice so no spoilers but Dual destinies is honestly way too overhated. I think Athena’s character/backstory is actually interesting whereas there’s not much to say about Phoenix and Apollo’s. But in the last SoJ case (the one I’m on) they’re starting to explore his backstory a bit more so I’m excited to see what they do with it Honestly apollo is pretty relevant in dual destinies or Spirits of Justice. You get more cases with him than Athena and an equal amount of cases with Phoenix But yeah I miss the trilogy and AJ vibes A LOT. But I love the new games too. I adore all three of our defence attorneys equally and it’s so fun to watch Athena and Apollo’s dynamic together
I was just thinking about it and Apollo gets quite a bit of backstory from Apollo justice to Dual Destinies to spirits of justice. Idk but he’s definitely NOT irrelevant 😭 Plus you get a lot of cases with him
Dual Destinies is the worst game without question. Athena’s backstory is literally just Edgeworth and Ema Skye’s backstories mashed together. Don’t even get me started on the abomination that was Turnabout Academy.
I can agree with the Apollo thing lol, my order of defense attorneys goes: Athena, Phoenix, Apollo. The reason being is I love Athena's story and personality, same with Phoenix but he's just being overwritten at this point, and Apollo just has like nine different backstories, Capcom just didn't give him a set backstory or something.
After being exposed she just becomes an asshole, and being an asshole is basically her whole deal. Damn it, the doctor who strangled her was more goddamn interesting and he got barely any screen time
Not every character needs some deep backstory and character motivation. Idk why does Tumblr think those are strict requirements for a character to be good.
Edgeworth doing a long eye-to-eye and then going "I have just discovered that I'm bi and am dropping all charges" had me cracking up enough that I instantly fully forgive you calling him the most overrated character. XD ...That said, if you still do wanna die on that hill, I'm sure someone else in this comment section's gonna need to hire Phoenix Wright to defend them by the end of the day, lol.
@@joshuawillis602 I thought the whole point of Winston Payne was to be the most boring, unmemorable person in the game. Phoenix outright forgets who the guy is at one point, and Edgeworth once thought he was a janitor.
What about Nahyuta Sahdmahdi? He effectively said and did the exact same thing three cases in a row and didn't deviate from his little list of quotes until you're near the end of the last case. I feel like Nahyuta is definitely in the running for most boring.
Honestly, I’m just gonna ignore canon and accept Trucy’s alternate trial story as canon. Because it’s more interesting and kinda gives me Acro vibes (even though that trial sucked, Acro was kinda interesting at least).
im not mad that you called edgeworth boring. thats one thing, but understandable. but how D A R E Y O U make edgey ironically cheat on phoenix, i will NOT forgive that!
Edgeworth is def considered boring in universe despite to most of us, him having the most in-depth writing in the games. Which makes sense because he’s one of the few prosecutors that don’t have an over the top personality or doesn’t straight up assault the defense the attorney. I think people would’ve enjoyed his character much better if we saw more from his perspective ( which is crazy considering how often he appears in the games ) and not everyone plays his games, and I briefly remember enjoying the small snippet we got when he played defense for a bit and it turned out his thoughts are actually rather humorous.
;_; The Apollo Slander....I like him more than any other protagonist because of how normal he is. In AA4, he's just a guy, he doesnt survive tremendous accidents, he doesnt have a tragic backstory, he is literally as clueless as you about the trends in the world thus not knowing abt the gavinners. The future games kinda ruined him for me, turning him into this extraordinary man that lost everything and moved countries and all that. Makes him less relatable...But that's just my opinion :) Amazing video nonetheless
I don't know. I think the reason I don't like him as much as I thought I was going to is because based on his character design I assumed he was going to be this fiery justice seeking hothead semi-idiot character. But he just ended up being so normal. It's so jarring.
AJAA Apollo was a bit too much of a blank slate for me. We learned almost nothing about him aside from him being loud and not knowing who his mother is. Dual Destinies gave us some much needed Apollo backstory and personality that should have been in the previous game imo. He became my favorite of the 3 defense attorneys during DD. Spirit of Justice made everything ridiculous. I'm just gonna pretend all the Kingdom of Khura'in stuff didn't happen.
Alita's Design isn't even that bland, Adrian Andrews' design is much more boring. While Adrian Andrews doesn't even have a pun, Alita's last name is just an anagram of "Alita"
Tbh I think Adrian's boring design (which it totally is I'm not even gonna argue about that) is accounted for by how complex she is of a character, the way she acts and what she's been through, I mean. Oh I just remembered literally 2 months after making this comment that her name doesn't have a pun, but it's purposefully a masculine name because that's the plot to catch de killer
The fact that Jello and friends had to make up Edgeworth being a gay robot in love with both phoenix wright and a golem gumshoe just to make his games somewhat good. (They're still bad but jellopocalypse really shines) only proves the miles is boring point
Alita: So what got you into watching paint dry? Edgeworth: Its sort of a long story, but ever since that day in the courtroom elevator, when I sued to beleive I had killed my own father accidentally by throwing a gun, I would punish myself by spending any time I wasn't working by sitting and watching Paint dry. Sometimes I would do this overnight if there wasn't a trial the next morning, but I think that was moreso to stay the nightmares. ... Nowadays, i suppose ive gotten used to it. It's comfortable, in a sort of cruel way... It always left me time to think about life, my work, and the people I affect every day. I suppose that's why I like listening to BPR. Sure, sometimes I hear about something new, but I can always ignore it and think. ... Alita: Quit trying to gilt trip me. You didn't actually have to kill someone like I did. Edgeworth: This can't work, I HATE criminals.
Ahem Lance Amano is clearly the most boring culprit, in fact, he's so boring he's not even in any of the main games but in the spinoff series miles edgeworth investigations, and not the second game but the very redundant and mundane first game that felt like it went on for too long near the end
At first I thought I was gonna be angry because this was gonna be a hate video, but tbh it was really good and presented some good points and arguments. Most "this character is terrible" videos just mock them, so awesome job! But then you said that Edgeworth is boring, and most importantly, that Klavier is not boring, and now I'm angry again. Come on, Klavier doesn't even care about the trials unless his friend or his brother is the culprit! Apollo is not too good, but it works for the MC, and Alita is boring, but it's just a secondary villain; but Klavier should be one of the main selling points in the game and he doesn't do anything. He is not the villain, he is not the defendant, he is barely related to the main plot (besides being the brother of Kristoph, and they don't even have a sibling relationship...). I don't hate him, but imo he is the worst prosecutor (except maybe the Paynes, and even they are better if we take them as, simply, comic relief for the tutorial)
I agree, Edgeworth is genuinely overrated. The two big claims to fame he has are Wrightworth and the fact that his second game is Japan only. I liked filmmaker's Bonds of Fate where he made Edgeworth a piece of shit, because it does honestly seem very in character for him and because I hate the guy.
I mean, I didn't mind her as a villain, because it was interesting how she was even MORE of an asshole and a manipulator than the LITREAL FRIGGIN' YAKUSAS/MOBSTERS in the case. ...Otherwise though, yeah, she's up there as one of the least interesting killers. ...And she had the second most-annoying Twitch. XD
Alita's not the most boring killer imo; her motive sucks but it stands to reason she had more knowledge than everyone minus the victim on the situation, and confronted him about it; even got strangled. That's a more interesting narrative throughline than "I bonked the protag on the head with a fire extinguisher so he gets amnesia and loses the case. Also I'm a con artist and the victim who found my phone is a cop, figure it out yourself". (Richard Wellington sucks. Even as a case 1 killer, that's notoriously bad, to a point where Jacques Portsman has more of a gimmick)
SPOILERS I've played the trilogy, edgeworth investigations, and on the last episode of apollo justice, and I've realized two things: - Every dainty, innocent-looking, or vain girl turns out to be a killer or an accomplice. - Every brown guy either dies or is arrested. Edit: .... or both... in that order!

Ah yes, Phoenix Wright needs to a be a serious and grounded game where we cross examine parrots.
still boring
I respect the essay on why she's a good character, however, I don't think anyone in the ace attorney fandom cares about a reasonable/grounded/realistic villain, because an unrealistic villain is entertaining. You brought up good points, but the large basis of your argument is kinda flawed imo, I think if people cared about realistic villains, they wouldn't be in the AA fandom to begin with. Although I do agree that a realistic villain is somewhat refreshing
Pass
Alita is one of the most realistic villain
I forgive the Edgeworth slander only because the "Hmmm. It turns out I'm bisexual." bit made me laugh very hard. And yes, even as a fan of Edgey, he is a boring af person.
As a fellow bisexual, I stan bisexual prosecutors. But Klavier is the hot one.
He's a boring person but he's *miles* (get it) better character than Klavier.
@@kolbayada4938 Klavier is just wasted potential. SO much wasted potential.
The chunk about Alita is pretty good and ya I agree with everything said the more I think abt it and then edgeworth came up and it kinda lost me lmao
Can you do a "When the killer is someone you actually like" Because that happens to me almost all the time!
*cough cough* like acro, he was the only character in that case I liked
I honestly wanted to like Daryan, but as soon as I saw him I was like "He's the villain, isn't he?"
The tragic clown
Woof You already mentioned him, but Luke Atmey is amazing.
Not just in Ace Attorney either. Aside from like, twice in the first game, once in the second game, and then once in the third game, I ended up either loving every killer in the Danganronpa series, or at least loving their murder plan.
Honestly Edgeworth is one of my favorite characters and yet I 100% understand why you don't like him
Love Edgeworth but can't disagree he is over-hyped.
Never mind.”
But yeah, everything else is spot-on, or at least I’ll give it a pass because it’s funny, and this is hilarious.
The breakdown was kinda fun, but otherwise yeah.
I think the most disappointing is geiru.Just why
Waiting for more backstory on Apollo
Yeah, more like the 56th backstory
Apollo's grandfather could be a clairvoyant, and his grandmother a space alien with hair antennae, and it wouldn't make Apollo more interesting. He could've been born inside a volcano and have a talent for stunt biking, and maybe Klavier would give a small nod to him.
Edgeworth, in universe, donates to BPR yearly and is single-handedly funding them.
2:32 LMAO WHY DID I LAUGH SO MUCH TO THIS
Now I would take Apollo over Athena any day.
But in the last SoJ case (the one I’m on) they’re starting to explore his backstory a bit more so I’m excited to see what they do with it
Honestly apollo is pretty relevant in dual destinies or Spirits of Justice. You get more cases with him than Athena and an equal amount of cases with Phoenix
But yeah I miss the trilogy and AJ vibes A LOT. But I love the new games too. I adore all three of our defence attorneys equally and it’s so fun to watch Athena and Apollo’s dynamic together
I was just thinking about it and Apollo gets quite a bit of backstory from Apollo justice to Dual Destinies to spirits of justice. Idk but he’s definitely NOT irrelevant 😭 Plus you get a lot of cases with him
Nah Apollo justice is the worst phoenix wright game hands down
Dual Destinies is the worst game without question. Athena’s backstory is literally just Edgeworth and Ema Skye’s backstories mashed together.
Don’t even get me started on the abomination that was Turnabout Academy.
@@mrfoxly6833 big top wants to throw hands rn
Even as a person who loves alita tiala with all my heart, i have to agree :c
h o w .
@@wahtishappening790 the only good thing i think she has is how she looks, so i don't know how someone could literally love her
I can agree with the Apollo thing lol, my order of defense attorneys goes: Athena, Phoenix, Apollo.
"Turns out I am bisexual"
Despite all the things I don't personally agree with, I love the implications. It was kind of funny.
Edgeworth doing a long eye-to-eye and then going "I have just discovered that I'm bi and am dropping all charges" had me cracking up enough that I instantly fully forgive you calling him the most overrated character. XD
...That said, if you still do wanna die on that hill, I'm sure someone else in this comment section's gonna need to hire Phoenix Wright to defend them by the end of the day, lol.
ok wai bother is actually a funny name for a bland killer in the ace attorney franchise if they ever make a bland killer
This is just bullying 😭 but also true
I’m going to start calling her Dollar Store Dahlia now
"We need a more boring prosecutor"
How about Winston Payne? He's really boring.
>Edgeworth
...Huh?
Winston Payne is not boring. He’s hilarious
@@joshuawillis602 I thought the whole point of Winston Payne was to be the most boring, unmemorable person in the game.
Phoenix outright forgets who the guy is at one point, and Edgeworth once thought he was a janitor.
@@TheAuNinja2 in game he may be forgettable but the fan base knows him well for his hilarious reactions and nervous outbursts
Dohlliar Hawstore indeed
Boring prosecuter: edgeworth
I'm dying 😭😭 how can you think edgeworth is more boring then winston and klavier
I thought it was gonna be Payne lol
Who is Payne? Does someone like that exist? Nah, y'all lying, there isn't a character like that, totally.

Sir this is a Wendy’s.
When you said boring prosecutor I was expecting Winston Payne
Same
I was expecting Nayuhta Sadmadhi

For a person who is actually really boring af, this hurts me in a very personal way 😔
At least the video shows you that there are other boring people out there for you.

dollar store dahlia ooo damn 💀

Absolutely nothing
Take me!
Honestly, I’m just gonna ignore canon and accept Trucy’s alternate trial story as canon. Because it’s more interesting and kinda gives me Acro vibes (even though that trial sucked, Acro was kinda interesting at least).
even though I don't find Edgeworth boring... this was funny still
But she’s one of my favorite characters 🙃
i've never played an ace attorney game and have a very vague idea of it but this did make me laugh a lot
Calling Edgeworth boring while payne exists is just insulting.
Actually Payne is not boring. He’s hilarious with his expressions
"You're so boring youre not even in objection.lol!"
Considering sahwit is there, that's very insulting.
Alita stuck to my mind mainly because how she was drawn looks really creepy to me.
Second cases are usually boring.
This is some great writing right here
3:54 I love this part, and the Alita/Edgeworth date
Mfw Alita is more sympathetic in an objection.lol video bashing her boringness the in game.
im not mad that you called edgeworth boring. thats one thing, but understandable. but how D A R E Y O U make edgey ironically cheat on phoenix, i will NOT forgive that!
Alita honestly felt like a watered down Dahlia
Edgeworth is def considered boring in universe despite to most of us, him having the most in-depth writing in the games. Which makes sense because he’s one of the few prosecutors that don’t have an over the top personality or doesn’t straight up assault the defense the attorney.
I think people would’ve enjoyed his character much better if we saw more from his perspective ( which is crazy considering how often he appears in the games ) and not everyone plays his games, and I briefly remember enjoying the small snippet we got when he played defense for a bit and it turned out his thoughts are actually rather humorous.
I love the idea that everyone except Phoenix thinks Edgeworth is boring
;_; The Apollo Slander....I like him more than any other protagonist because of how normal he is. Makes him less relatable...But that's just my opinion :)
Amazing video nonetheless
I don't know. I think the reason I don't like him as much as I thought I was going to is because based on his character design I assumed he was going to be this fiery justice seeking hothead semi-idiot character. But he just ended up being so normal. It's so jarring.
@@brushido4641 yeah i can understand that.
Samus Aran with glasses and a smaller frame doesn't jive with the average AA fan as much as unexpressive slightly floral, always a bother, Alita... :(
Tbh I think Adrian's boring design (which it totally is I'm not even gonna argue about that) is accounted for by how complex she is of a character, the way she acts and what she's been through, I mean.
Oh I just remembered literally 2 months after making this comment that her name doesn't have a pun, but it's purposefully a masculine name because that's the plot to catch de killer
Pls the comments are making me rethink my taste in characters, as Apollo and klavier are the ones who brought me into the fandom 💀💀💀
This whole video was made to diss Edgeworth, and I respect you for it
The dollar store dahlia is so true 😂
“Dollar Store Dahlia 💵” I’m dead! XD
I forgive the Edgeworth slander because of how amazing this video is
Heh… when you get more backstory… yeah I’m sure you will champ.
LEGGO!
I don't know completely what this is but like funny.
Edgeworth's favorite movie would obviously be the Steel Samurai.
The fact that Jello and friends had to make up Edgeworth being a gay robot in love with both phoenix wright and a golem gumshoe just to make his games somewhat good. (They're still bad but jellopocalypse really shines) only proves the miles is boring point
I'd have liked it if the boring prosecutor was Winston Payne
Alita:
So what got you into watching paint dry?
Edgeworth:
Its sort of a long story, but ever since that day in the courtroom elevator,
when I sued to beleive I had killed my own father accidentally by throwing a gun,
I would punish myself by spending any time I wasn't working by sitting and watching Paint dry.
Sure, sometimes I hear about something new, but I can always ignore it and think.
...
Alita:
Quit trying to gilt trip me.
You didn't actually have to kill someone like I did.
Edgeworth:
This can't work, I HATE criminals.
NO WAY YOU THINK EDGY BOY IS NOT COOL
For real; I legit forgot who Alita was. XD
aw cmon edgeworth isnt that boring. his character is so fleshed out and his story UGFHHGhh
Ahem
Lance Amano is clearly the most boring culprit, in fact, he's so boring he's not even in any of the main games but in the spinoff series miles edgeworth investigations, and not the second game but the very redundant and mundane first game that felt like it went on for too long near the end
this is the aftermath of the c girl craze...
I don't hate him, but imo he is the worst prosecutor (except maybe the Paynes, and even they are better if we take them as, simply, comic relief for the tutorial)
all of this is canon
If you think Edgeworth is boring you should have made it Edgeworth vs Edgeworth since he covers for the end of Trials and Tribulations
Every case 1 killer be like
I agree, Edgeworth is genuinely overrated.
XD
Apollo phoenix athena in order of best to worst. No hate towards athena fantastic character, but you can't have a best without a worst
I doubt it Apollo!
This is just evil Mizusaki Tsubame lmaoo
alita is one my favorite killers 😭
This is a masterpiece
this one is so so good lol
Uhhhh. Alita is half the age younger than Edgeworth...
I feel like edgeworth isn't that boring if written right
also wouldn't Payne be even more boring? he's like the default prosecutor
New ship unlocked
Alita's not the most boring killer imo; her motive sucks but it stands to reason she had more knowledge than everyone minus the victim on the situation, and confronted him about it; even got strangled.
That's a more interesting narrative throughline than "I bonked the protag on the head with a fire extinguisher so he gets amnesia and loses the case. Also I'm a con artist and the victim who found my phone is a cop, figure it out yourself". (Richard Wellington sucks. Even as a case 1 killer, that's notoriously bad, to a point where Jacques Portsman has more of a gimmick)
Okay, Athena better than Apollo... it seems Furio got the Judge some good sh... 😄
AJ apollo is just john protagonist but DD and SOJ apollo are based
Nooo wrightworth got ruined
SPOILERS
I've played the trilogy, edgeworth investigations, and on the last episode of apollo justice, and I've realized two things:
- Every dainty, innocent-looking, or vain girl turns out to be a killer or an accomplice.
- Every brown guy either dies or is arrested.
Edit: .... or both... in that order!
doesn't edgeworth like the steel samurai?
