This literally feels like a Classic Sonic game in 2.5D and this is how it's done right! I had a blast playing through everything and even broke the Time Eater. lol I spent around 8 hours getting the gameplay for the video, brought my A game. You all are in for a treat. Enjoy! :D
I really enjoyed the experience of this mod and improved classic sonic moveset from different new and old sonic classic like for example sonic cd for the peel out and the Sonic mania for the dropdash

I think Sega learned their lesson after botching Colors Ultimate, so they'll either put more care into their remakes/remasters, or never make one again.
It's so fun to see gameplay of Generations again, it's fucking splendid to see how much care was put into making this game and detail once again, just seeing Classic Sonic going through Classical versions of other aspects of the series and seeing how they transform ideas to fit with it! The Egg Pawns in the background shooting at you in Seaside Hill The fucking GUN Truck trying its absolute hardest to get you in City Escape Not to mention the music for these are still some of my favorite tunes in the series, the Classic version of Planet Wisp being near the top of that list. I've never played Gens yet I can say I still love this game so damn much
Haven't had a chance to try the mod itself, but even just looking through this footage I can immediately notice the difference in weight and momentum from the physics changes. I'm curious if the level design lets you take full advantage of it, but it looks a lot more rewarding to build up momentum now.
Does this work for the "remaster" as well? I find classic sonic incredibly wonky to play as compared to Mania, does this make it feel more like it feels in that game?
I gave Sega a pass on Classic Sonic in Gens a first time because it was their first time recreating that type of gameplay, especially in 2.5D. But after Forces, they got no excuse. It can be be done in this engine! They just need to put in the extra effort to make it work.
As far as I'm concerned, the Generations physics was close enough. The main thing for me here are the Drop-Dash, Peelout, and Elemental Shields in the stages. Now if only the signpost mission's code could be reused to make the signpost juggle work at the end of a level. Mini bosses would be cool too.
@@DarkLink1996. yea gens physics were pretty close. we even got a broken spindash which was pretty fun, and was kinda like adventure sonic. The thing they failed was the roll not giving speed, but i never noticed, cause the levels worked well with them
Are you using any shader mods? The colors in your game look very vibrant and appealing. I'm using the Better FxPipeline mod and it looks great, but stages like Green Hill make the characters and objects look like they have green filters over them haha. Also, do you ever seem to have the issue where the camera struggles to keep up with Sonic? The ending of Green Hill for me, you can hardly ever see Sonic but for yours the camera panned ahead of him instead.
Classic Sonic should have had the Insta-Shield (Twin Spin Attack) and the Peel-Out part of his default moveset when Generations first came out, not counting the Drop Dash as that was yet to be officially revealed (Yes, I know the concept was introduced in the ‘93 Sonic 3 Prototype)

Finally classic sonic is fixed. A shame i can't play gens on my pc anymore. I think 2 years ago now it crashed one day during a playthrough and i thought no big deal but whenever i try to boot it up nowadays it won't it tries but its like the game uninstalled itself.
Just got around to playing this game with Sonic X Shadow Generations. Classic Sonic feels AWFUL to control in that game, and I can already tell by this video that this mod completely fixes it. I'm excited to try it out soon!

If anything the S1-SA1 (S3DBlast) spin attack animation should be used or the drop dash spin attack animation style

2.5D over reliance after Generations is why I stopped playing '3D' Sonic games by the current team. At least in Generations it made sense.

No shader mods besides Better FxPipeline. Perhaps theirs a config option for lighting intensity or something? I got no idea about the camera.

A little bit, He seems to jump abit higher and have more air mobility. I think the ground speed may have increased abit but it's hard to tell.

It should be on by default with this mod. On controller you jump then hold A or X.

I realized that this mod does not work with the doppelgänger race challenge and for some reason whenever I challenge metal sonic my game crashes
But is this compatible with the 3d Classic Sonic mod?
yeah but using it with the better 3d physics mod will remove the configuration settings for csim
