Hi, i own a Nikon 200-500mm, i bought it used. But the front element is damaged and i don't want to spent more money on used lens. I want to buy a new one. I am confused between Sigma 150-600mm C, Tamron 150-600mm G2 and Nikon 200-500mm. I love the VR of 200-500mm and its sharpness with subjects within 30-40 ft. I can handhold this lens at 1/13s. Does the Sigma or, Tamron provide that amount of sharpness & VR even close to that of Nikon. I heard the Tamron and Sigma are less affected by heat haze and sharp at more than 50ft. And i would really like the extra 100mm,150mm on crop bodies but is it worth it. Or does cropping the Nikon 200-500mm would provide a better result ?

Hello, I have also used the Tamron 150-600 G2 lens and my friend who does wildlife photography uses that lens. The biggest difference between it and the Sigma is the weight difference and the Tamron's VR is better from my testing. You would have to get the sports version of the Sigma and that's even heavier. I like the new line of Sigma lenses but the 150-600 C I'm not a fan of. I went with the Nikon 200-500mm because of the constant 5.6 aperture and its VR is super smooth. My recommendation to you is try and rent the Tamron 150-600 for a few days and compare it. Also, my experience is that all of them have just about the same level of sharpness but the Nikon has some better micro contrast to me.
