Seattle Coffee Gear do you have any settings you could recommend for the best espresso?
Can you put the the burr grinder in the dishwasher?
or how would you wash it?
Thank you, great review! Miele is actually a German manufacturer of high-end domestic appliances and commercial equipment, headquartered in Gütersloh, Ostwestfalen-Lippe. The company was founded in 1899 by Carl Miele and Reinhard Zinkann, and it has always been a family-owned and run company
Just took super fast delivery of the cm6150 from SCG. It’s amazing and super hot, that’s what I thought before noticing it wasn’t on the hottest heat setting even! Thanks SCG for your responses to all of my pre sale questions
Hi. I am looking at getting a cm6150 and I do like my milk hot in my coffee. Which setting do you use to get this? I am confused coz I don't want the coffee part to be too hot in case it get burnt. Just the milk part hot. (Thanks in advance)
Charissa you can’t change milk temperature as that would ruin the drink.
I've commented on this video before. This video made it so that i bought the CM6150 (wish i had bought the CM6350 because of the 2 cups thing see my earlier comment). Now after 1 year and 5 months my machine broke. I called Miele and today the repairman came and fixed my machine. Turned out the flowmeter/water pulser was broken. This was all under warranty so no costs for me, although I think it was a bit fast for things to break. Then again you never know with electronics. Service was very good and the repairman was a cool guy.
Like your style, calm and straight to the point(which most youtube videos lacks of).
Much "love" from germany =)
I really like how the brew unit is removable. That was a complaint I had with my Jura. It seems like the engineers of this machine paid attention to usability.
it's a great function.
How do you remove the brew unit
@@cherylneal1005 watch the video!
Nice 👍
Which coffee machine build in wall or cabin and blaming in , is the best one and reliable to ? Do you know would have some advice ?
Thanks 🙏
Been looking for the right machine for a while. Based on this review I’m going with the 6350. Thanks!
and did you buy one and how do you like it?
7:03 in the event of an unexpected drop in cabin pressure, oxygen masks will deploy from the ceiling compartment located above you.
I purchased the 6350. Has a fatal flaw if you want to use the milk carafe. After frothing it sends half an ounce of hot milk back into the carafe. That was disturbing to notice after using the carafe overnight, etc. It still pulls a great shot for a superauto. I just don't use the carafe unless I'm making a bunch of drinks quickly - in other words, don't buy the more expensive model for the carafe. Great demo as usual SCG!
Have you tried the CM7500 yet?
I am interested to know how it would compare to the CM6350. Is the quality of espresso from these machines comparable to semi-automatic (coming from a Gaggia Classic)?
not on their website, must be discontinued!
Do you recommend espresso beans or coffee beans if we make mostly lattes? Espresso right?!
Hi, thank you for the review. I bought the CM6150 based on this video. I have a couple complaints about the machine which is otherwise a nice machine:
1. Biggest fail is when you have the cheaper version there is NO indication if you pushed the button for 2 cups correctly, it does not light up and neither there is a indication on the screen. Only after you push the button for coffee and the machine starts preparing your drink you can see if it is two or one cup. If I knew this beforehand I would have bought the more expensive one which has lights to indicate this.
2. It is very noisy in my opinion (compared to my Jura impressa J5 that I had before)
3. The drip tray is full very fast.
4. It does not indicate beforehand if water or beans need to be filled, it does this mid preparation.
Otherwise a great machine.
Roelof Koelewijn THANK YOU! I gave this review a thumbs down. As others have pointed out ... details like country of origin and pronunciation are off... In this case I will buy the better model. I had the 5200 and loved it! The two coffee thing would REALLY irk me.
Equipped Productions No problem, glad I could help.
Dear Gail, because of all those parameters you can adjust, can the Miele produce a cappuccino that can almost be compared to a Rocket espresso machine. I have the R58 but due to my MS it is getting harder to operate my machine and i have to go back to a full automatic unfortunately. I want a machine that comes the closest to my R58. We only drink cappucino’s. Thank you
It comes close, but no, can't make silky foam like an expert can do on a HEX machine, and can't extract as deep flavored a shot as what you can on the R58. But again it comes close.
Does the miele stainless steel milk container work with the new 6350 model? I like it much better than the glass one it comes with.
Hello, I have one question. I bought miele cm6350. I do not know where the time period should be to clean the stone with the appliance, please answer.
I’m thinking of buying one, so thank you for this really good review. It mentions that the machine is Swiss, Miele is actually German. Or did I misunderstand this bit?
You are right, Miele is German!
I wouldn't be surprised if it was engineered and built by Jura. It shares some parts and the internal setup is simular. Jura also engineered and manufactured a lot of Nespresso machines even though the logo says Krups or Magimix.
I have had two (2015 and 2018). We do use it a lot (daily). Each machine lasted 3 years. I will never buy another one. Different issues with each. Customer services is a waste of time. The second one actually started to shut down during 2020 (during pandemic); however, we just kept jiggling the dry tray for it to acknowledge that it had been emptied and returned. A wire bar eventually dropped and blocked the entry of the drip tray. The brew unit was cleaned once and sometimes twice a week. The CM6350 did not last for my family. In my opinion, it is an expensive piece of junk.
What was the total no of drinks the machines made before it broke?
Still trying to determine why the vacuum stainless milk flask is $500 although you also get the heated cup feature and hot water dispenser benefits of that more expensive machine. We use an electric kettle to heat cups and make tea now so that extra $500 may not be worth it. We had the Miele plumbed built in and found its menu easy and it makes excellent coffee. The maintenance routine is easy to get used to and thorough. We moved and will now buy a countertop model once we determine if there is any real benefit of the flask. Miele is German. Their manufacturer support seems to be improving .
In Europe their support is excellent and backed up with good warranties too. I have one of their washing machines with a 10 year parts and labour warranty, fantastic machine.
Hi guys, pls help... How can I make the milk part hotter and not necessarily the coffee ground part? As I don't want to "burn" my coffee.
Never said if is wi-fi or not. Because the cm6160 is wi-fi. Only want to know if the cm6150 is to?
Great video as always Gail!
These are beautiful super-automatic machines, very impressed with the features, but also the results. Currently weighing up the choices of the super-auto and manual machines sub $2000. This seems to be a great contender. What would your comparative manual machine be? A rocket? A Breville/Sage?
Hi Henry! You can go a lot of directions with $2000 when it comes to super-autos! You could do a Rocket + grinder, and if you wanted to maintain some of the automated features you get with a superauto while still having a lot of control over your drinks you could do something like a Breville Oracle!
@@SeattleCoffeeGear but will the Miele taste as good as these superautos?
Love scg's vids and Gail. Helped me buy my first machine from over the other side of the world.
Sorry to comment on an old video and not sure where else to put it but is there any chance you might post a video review of the Miele cm7 series? I've been looking at the cm7750 but there aren't a lot of videos available on the 7 series out there.
Love your work
not on their website.
I've got my machine cm6350 today, I love it. But how can I change coffee strength just for one cup without saving the setting for all future cups ? I like my coffee strong in the morning, but less strong in the afternoon.
Make a “morning” profile and “afternoon” profile
Are you still liking your CM6350?
@@gosman949 we do, it's good machine and gives no
trouble to us. It's different from the previews we owned for 7 years, but I would recommend it.
Does your machine still work and how many coffees do you think you have made in its lifetime?
@@zeegermanhiker5266 we sent it for the repairs. One simple part broke, but it's going to be repaired by the shop, we have the warranty. We make 6-10 cups a day since they day we bought it. My previews machine worked 7 years before it broke. I still recommend Miele, but make sure to buy extended warranty. And keep in mind you pay the shipping to repair shop.
Gail you are simply lovely. Your videos are great!
How does an espresso shot compare to the espresso shot in the Jura Z6? Both flavor and temp.
what happens when somebody presses latte but doesn't have the milk tube in a cup of milk?
Hello! In short, nothing. It will try to pull the milk in but without nothing to heat it will run the cycle with nothing coming out. It will still brew the espresso.
I enjoy your videos Gail. I’m looking to replace my Jura S9 I got about 10 years ago and this Miele is at the top of my superauto list. I might go w/something that gives me more control and requires more skill. Can’t decide.
Hello Gail, if I want to use this machine to brew coffee, not espresso, what grind setting should I have? Fine or Coarse? Thanks
Question to ask you, when you push a button to select a drink or option on the CM6150, does it light up like on the CM6350?
joey jojoshabado It does not, however I think it is just matter of firmware version as LEDs are there so I believe technician could make it.
Gail, you should make more tutorials-great insight, valuable information. Thanks
How would you compare this to a Jura E8 ?
Do you have any tips for optimal settings for espresso or coffee? Thanjs
Can it brew a 12oz cofee?
Does it automatically adjust the grind based on the drinks you select? Also can you select or program the amount of grind that you would want to use for a specific drink like say when you want a pot of coffee?
Hi Avish! The grind stays the same while the amount of coffee used changes from drink to drink or the pot of coffee function.
So even for a pot of coffee the machine is using espresso grind? And for a coffee machine priced this much I would expect to have control over the amount of coffee I can use. Anyways thanks for the great review and reply thoug.
Avish Kansakar literally does not matter, you can adjust the grinder easily
@@sh1fthappens I can't imagine this making coffee as good as a drip brewer!
I went with the 6350, got a Black Friday Deal for $300 off.
Question: I’m about a dozen brews in and I can’t help but notice a plastic taste?
Does everyone experience this? Any tips from @seattlecoffeegear on when/if this goes away?
danpcoll
I’m curious if you looked at other brands and if you’re happy with your purchase? I am going back and forth between the Miele CM6350 and the Jura E8. I’m leaning towards purchasing the Miele. Have a Jura now. Thanks!
Good review. Thanks Gail.
Thanks, this what I needed to know!
Are they more reliable than a Jura or have they not had enough lifespan to know yet?
Failure points are the seals of the brew unit and drain valve. Not very expensive to change though.
Anyone know how to enter programming mode? miele 6150 stuck in descale cycle AND demo mode... need to kill descale, can be done in programming according to miele but they won't give me the secret button combo over the phone, they want $300 and send it to Chicago...
did you get an answer?
@@gosman949 YES! to enter programming, press "settings" (3 lines icon on bottom right) + PWR at the same time, then settings 5 times, hold on the last one. I was able to reset the descale program, then get out of demo mode using the normal menu.
Hi Gail we are looking at the Jura S8 and the Miele CM6250. Which would you recommend? Thanks
Sorry Gail I meant to type the Miele CM6350
Great video, I always look forward to your reviews.
Thanks Orrin!
Is it made in Switzerland, or in Germany?
It's probably made in Switzerland by Jura. They manufactur coffee machines for a lot of brands.
Romania, city of Braşov
is it possible to make milk alone hotter on these machines?
I would so like to know too
Just purchased a 6150. Frustrated. Because of reviews we were under the impression that the Miele would produce hot beverages. Not so, with settings at Max for temp. the best shots pulled are just over 100F and Latte's are the same; basically luke warm. I can provide pictures but what are we doing wrong? We have set the parameters to Maximum temperature.
I have pictures of what we are doing, with an excellent barista coffee thermometer that I can send. (Can't seem to post to this) Also this would be our 4th automatic. First super auto with milk features, our last Saeco had a milk wand. It was an incredible machine for years but needed replacement. Loved the idea of the super automatic with all the programability and incorporated milk and frother, but so far it has just been an exercise in frustration. Thanks for any help or advice you can provide. Also if you would like pictures of what we are doing, we can send in an email if provided. But basically we have read the manual and watched your video's and really feel we are operating correctly, But open to feedback, please and thank you!
@@tonypennington1048 did anyone reply? Everyone says these are the hotest autos. What gives?
WOW! Great demo! I had no idea there was something out there like this! Time to trade in my Nespresso! 😁
It's a great upgrade!
Yeap... just what I was thinking 👌🏻
Just got 6150, I replaced my over 6 year old manual Delonghi EC330. Well it is not mentioned that every time you turn it on it performes cleaning and before turning off cleaning as well - so it takes lots of time before you get your drink. Butons are not lighted as well so you never know if you get two coffees at once - when you press designed button for this purpose. And it is not very quiet. The coffee itself is very good and extremely strong (default settings). Would rate it 3.5 out of 5 at this price tag.
This is interesting, according to Miele I was told the CM6150 buttons are supposed to be backlit when you select them just like the CM6350 - but mine is not and yours does not seem to be either. My Miele rep must have been mistaken or both of us have the same problem.
Had a chance to use this machine for the one year we were living in Europe, coffee does not get hot enough even at the hottest setting. If you drink yours black, it’s fine. We like ours with a bit of milk. We ended up having to heat up our milk in the microwave before adding coffee to it. We’ve also tried the milk feature, but it’s messy because the milk would splatter everywhere before it dripped into the cup. We had to spend some time afterwards cleaning it up. This machine is expensive and not worth it in our opinion. When we came back home, we ended up purchasing the Technivorm Moccamaster and a Baratza Encore burr grinder instead.
you must be talking about a different machine? The Moccamaster is a drip brewer. These are espresso machines.
@@gosman949 We had both the Miele espresso machine and the Technivorm Moccamaster while we were living in Europe. Ended up using the Moccamaster more because of the issues we were having with the Miele. When we came home from our trip, we bought the Moccamaster and a different espresso machine for our home.
@@r.widjaya3980 I've had a Technivorm for over 15 years and use it everyday. I don't have an espresso machine yet but looking at all kinds.
@@gosman949 There’s a lot on the market for sure. We ended up purchasing De'Longhi Magnifica XS Automatic Espresso and Cappuccino Machine from Costco. So far we are happy with it.
does it grind and brew or does it require ground beans?
It grinds & brews! There is also a bypass chute that you can put pre-ground coffee in
Gail, I know this is off topic, but will there be another yule log Christmas? 😃
Russian ingenuity!
I've actually owned both the CM6350 and CM6150 and find the 6150 the better performing unit. For some reason, the 6150 makes a hotter milk drink and warms up slightly faster. The quality of foam is slightly better too for some reason. I think it might have something to do with the internal works for the hot water dispenser. If you'd never use it, save your money and buy the cheaper unit.
Hello Joey. To brew a coffee. May I know your setting of the grinder? Fine or Coarse?
this machine looks wonderful! hopefully, someday ..... (new subscriber, love ur channel)
Hi, thanks for your review. About the frothed milk, would it be possible to get the milk on a pitcher and pour milk myself on a shot to try latte art? Not that I can make latte art, just wondering if it would be possible? ;)
There is an option on these machines to just dispense steamed or frothed milk and the froth is surprisingly good quality, especially from a superauto.
I noticed that menu option also, +SeattleCoffeeGear could you compare some of the superautos, like this Miele and test if any of these could make suitable milk for latte art?
Omg, would love to get the gift card to get either one of these asap. Great price for super automatic!
Good luck and thanks for watching!
Well it also can come with a washing machine and dryer too. I thought that they were made in West Germany.
While some items are made in Germany, their coffee machines are made in Switzerland!
Im sorry, but just the grinders are from Jura/Swiss. Miele doesn‘t have any Production facility in switzerland.
It's assembled in Romania, city of Braşov
same as Porche many parts made in china or chek republic or slovenia then sent to assemly line in leiptzig or stutgart doing german perfect qality control and assembling here in Germany
Looks like a glass of beer once in the cup
Is the brew group the same as the ones in a Saeco?
Do you ever sell any of these machines?
Hi, back with another comment. After owning this machine for 4 years now, it has been repaired 3 times and this morning it broke down again. Since it outside warranty now I would have to pay € 279 to get it repaired again which is a third of the price!!! So please beware of this. If I buy another coffee machine I will go back to Jura.
Why is that tubing out there on the 6160, looks unappealing.
To Gail -
All Miele appliances including Miele CM 61, CM63 they are made in Germany NOT Switzerland like you mentioned!! Big enough mistake from you !!
Before you start to describe a coffeemachine, check where that was made !! Good luck!
They are made in Romania, Braşov. Before you comment check your facts.
i guess i'm not that original ahhaha just started to switch my kitchen appliances to white don't know why.
Perhaps it's some kind of group psychology but i'm liking the white color hahaha.
It's definitely a clean look!
I WANT THE $2000!!!!!!! I LOVE COFFEEEEEEEEE!
Good luck!
Please when you review machines show how they do on straight shots. Many people does not care about the milk in threir coffees
I feel like if you like straight shots, you don't buy a superautomatic...
Geoffrey Pereira you do...for convenience
super automatics are not the best machines for straight shots not anywhere near as much control as in a semi automatic we have one of these at my work hence we are a Miele dealer mainly for their vacuums personally im not the biggest fan of it or really any superautomatic they're a royal pain in the ass to properly clean out and cleaning the grinder too much of a hassle I'd rather not even mess with
Tony Jelev yes yes yes!!! I totally agree with you. First pull out the coffee so we can see the quality of it!
I was thinking the same thing. I would use the gift card on one of these machines.
Better be a really large gift card
Good review, but it’s junk not worth the money., we just purchased one been having issues ever since
