Keep your spirit. The future is yours. I am typing this comment, at 76 years old, from Mt. Everest base camp and two days away from my climb to the summit.
I'm now 80 years old, had the big C twice ( in remission now). always been a positive, confident person. I was climbing 3000 feet of ascent each week until 2022. Started again slowly. Lived on my own the last 22 years. Always busy helps.
Hey Martin. I’m Oliver Forrester-Mount. I don’t see many Forrester’s with the double rr’s!! Maybe we have a distant relation! Haha! G’day from Back Valley, SA, Australia! :)
I am 30+ years your senior and lived a free life as a single. I have travelled and lived in almost all Anglo-Saxon countries in the world. I am retiring in a few months. And I plan to sell up and live like you, but in a van a bit more luxurious than yours. I am not as physically free as I have been. My body is 67, but my brain is 30+ 😂. I will not let old age stop me and will continue, as long as my body allows me to. You talk about celibacy for a year. That is tuff. The start is difficult. I have been celibate all of my life. It makes life easier, when I travel and meet couples or singles, I have friends for life.
Good for you. I had kids late. So I am just now free and retired. 66 and my brain? I never know. It jumps around from 25 to 40 to 30..lol Still climbing and swimming in White Water. Getting a sail boat by winter. I've done the land thing in all environments. I think I liked Sub-Tropic the best. My body likes it, and I'm a Pisces. Good luck. Enjoy
Good luck on your adventures! We are the same age and I have been on the road for just over two years--one of the best decisions that I ever made. Just a little word of "warning". It is quite addictive.😀
I am 10 years older then you and have been hammered by diabetes and its complications. I am getting better then last winter but it is going very slowly. My legs are very swollen and make walking difficult and painful. This is most annoying as I had planned some trips this summer and fall. I still think as if I was 25 or so after I recovered from most, but not all, of the PTSD that resulted from a year in the Vietnam War. I saw and did some things that I would rather not remember. But as the intro said, That was "Along time ago and far, far away." I pay attention to the Climate situation and new and old energy sources. I pay attention to my neighbors and cherish my friends. Life is restricted but still good. I enjoy sharing Eva's adventures. She is a wonderful person doing what she wants to do. I love her dearly.
I've been following you for years and this is the first time I sense you're the happiest and most fulfilled you've been in a very long time. You exude inner peace and balance, so so happy for you! Very uplifting vibe 🥰
I’m 57 now and only at 33, I saw ‘regular normal’ life whatever that is was not for me. I learnt to sail and have spent the last 25 years pro sailing around the world and now living in the Caribbean. Meeting so many awesome eclectic people and great experiences. Time moves fast young folk. You will only regret what you don’t do, embrace your passion, be honest, just be yourself, be kind, try not to overthink, love good people and all animals
Excellent advice! Time does indeed move SO FAST! In a flash your time is almost over. And what you wanted to do but didn't will be what you regret the most. If you are not at least making some progress toward your dreams, you need to change something. Do not let that become a rut, because ruts can deepen when you're looking the other way. And illness can hit any time! That can end all your dreams right now. So use your time for what you really want. Do NOT waste it!
Eva, don’t ever give up your free spirit. At nearly 77 I do what interests ME, with lots of projects on the go at any one time. This winter project is a camper van from an insulated supermarket van.
What do you mean by a supermarket van? Are you going to make it into a campervan yourself? That's a huge project for a senior! I hope you are every bit as healthy in mind and body as you seem to be!
Eva 😭😭 I watched this on my first night of my solo trip!! Thank you for the beautiful advice, you have calmed my nerves 🫶 you’re making the world a better place for women !!! Hearing you say my name made my year
It totally shines through that you're happy and in a good place. I don't normally love Q&A videos but this was a joy to watch. It's great to see you loving life.
yes! write a book! would love to hear about all your travels adn experiences abroad. we live vicariously thru your vids getting to experience the world with locations that many of us would never otherwise get to see let alone visit. would love to hear about stuff that never make it into the vids
Do you have a specific reason for not neutering Vilk? I've been a Vet tech for 40 years, and it's just ingrained in me to ask lol! I think he is the greatest, smartest dog ever by the way!
Im Irish and travelled the world in my 20’s then had 3 kids by your age and lived on an island off the Philippines for four years before returning to Ireland. Now my kids are in college and I’m travelling Europe in my self converted campervan. I have the travel bug too having grown up in Africa, Japan and the Philippines when I was a child. You either love this lifestyle or you don’t!!! Glad to see you safe and happy!!! ❤❤❤
@Ellen.. Bless you for living a full life. Turning 70 looking back children would have been a best decision. I did not have a child. Thinking Eva may someday feel the same. It is relationships we cherish in life and the best is family.
Sounds exciting Ellen, as I retired a few years ago, but find long trips away from home for a length of time, has me yearning to be home, to see our daughters and grandchildren, as I miss them dearly when away for months at a time in our motorhome here in Canada. Interesting as well, how when younger I had a couple of places I'd love to have travelled, but have never gone to either, and don't feel sad about not going, nor a great 'need' to go either, I suppose from being content, with family & friends. I play Pickleball 4 times a week both for exercise and the social aspect, and find it very addictive, as generally, people are truly so nice. Glad here, to see you're happy with your travel, and best of luck enjoying all the locations you reach in your converted camper van!!
@@Shootingstarz22 well my husband died young in his 40’s so I sold my house and bought a wreck and sold it and kept doing that. Now I live on rental income from property and right now I’m travelling with the idea of finding somewhere I really like to buy a small house in a warm climate so I can go between Ireland and the new place anytime I like.
@@Powerstroke98 sounds like a lovely life you have indeed. Well my husband died in his early 40’s and so when the four kids were young I sold my house and bought a wreck and bought and flipped and sold properties and now I am living off the rental on them as I travel around to find a home in a warm country so I can travel around and return to it or Ireland whenever I like. I’m in my 50’s
Loved your Q and A. You and I live very similar lives. I am now 44 and have never regretted not having kids and not remarrying. I am very happy and satisfied with my life. The older I get the more self assured I have become in choosing to march to the beat of my own drum. Enjoy this next year and your celibacy!
I would buy your book in an instant! You have such amazing stories inside of you waiting to be told. Whenever you feel ready and you go for it we will be here :)
Your q&a would make an amazing book! Think in terms of small essays and include nature photo you’ve taken to inspire us to get out and see the world! What you said about a being a “free spirit” resonates with me, a 68 year woman! To get started on a book, perhaps record your thoughts and hire an assistant to type your words. Then meet with a publisher who will help you with editing. Your optimism is inspirational!❤

Only recently came across your videos Eva and I have to say you & your videos are amazing & inspiring I also absolutely love your openness & honesty about your life , keep going and good luck on the Marathon 😊
On a single topic, life is what it is, and, well, things happen. I was always sure I didn’t want kids (too boring, too normal), but I became a father at 48. That was a moment that utterly and completely changed my life, and my daughter completed me in a way that I could never have imagined. She provides me with a sense of peace that allows me to accept the relay race nature of life. So, just remain open to what might - maybe - be worthwhile in the long run.
There's been a transformation in you Eva the past few months. You seem more happy and at peace and mental clarity. I think the mountains really suit you. Loving following your journey . Would love you to return to Pakistan again soon ❤
Eva, so happy to see the vibrancy, optimism and confidence radiating through those eyes. Share the same thoughts as you on living life to the fullest and having hopes and dreams. Cant wait for you to show us your dreamed home, one that you can call your own. Run on Eva, you are doing GREAT!
The best thing about your videos is you . Another person said your personality. And don't apologize who you are. Thank you, keep it real. Like you have been doing.
I can't speak for all free spirits, but I've never really changed. I've gone through times I thought I wanted to have a more conventional life and that didn't last all that long. I'm now 67 and still living the free spirit life. I built out my own conversion school bus 3 years ago and I've been traveling in it off and on ever since and LOVING it. I'm so happy I never had kids bc I would have missed out on experiences and people I'd never want to give up. It's apples and oranges. If you're living a full life, either can work. I'm sort of surprised by how conventional some of the question were! I guess you understand much later on that being single your whole life has some huge advantages. I don't think I'd have grown as deeply as I have with a partner. But, who knows? I don't for one second think you can't be whole as a single person.
To celebrate turning 70, I went from my home in Seattle back to Tahiti after 48 years with my best friend. We are now retired teachers. We have known each other 36 years and traveled to 17 countries. We enjoyed swimming, kayaking, dancing, exploring, just at a slower pace. I've traveled solo a lot too. Keep enjoying the adventure! 💟
I'm a couple of years younger than you and in a stable, very intense career which provides a lot of meaning but I'm currently taking a break from it to take my first solo trip/sabbatical. This experience has made me realise a big part of me wants to be free-spirited and travel/go on adventures like you. Now having discovered this part of myself I now have to learn how to balance the two sides of my life. I like that you touched on how Everest is over-commercialised and therefore less appealing, as I also have found over-commercialized activities not suitable for me. Whilst I am definitely not a long distance runner like you I do love to go hiking in nature and I love the idea of climbing mountains by myself so I'll look into that in the future. Thanks for being such an inspiration for this free lifestyle!
Loved how vilk🐕 kept it on the green light for all the doggo's 😁 As soon as the fridge door opens!!😋😂😂 Great vlogg @Eva Su Beck!! You're an inspiration(& indeed inspired by listening to your experiences.&. adventures to date) to generations right accross the spectrum!!( Always true to you💪 F.N Had to come back after realisation with this totally innocent observation!! Your eyes are absolutely beautiful!! 🤩🤩
Yes please write a book. It will boost your self-esteem. To write a book, you need a general plan that fits your life and available time. I suggest you write about your personal/psyche evolution and changes, your discoveries, and what affected them, seeded into the adventures you experienced. It will be ongoing until you can reach a satisfying philosophical conclusion...that is not the end of your life.
YOU GOT THIS AUTHOR EVA!!! You are here because you are meant to create, that's obvious. You are a creative powerhouse who has made so many beautiful things for the world to enjoy. This is just another one of those things. Break it down into manageable steps you got this babe!!! ✨✨
Live life to the fullest/max when you can and don’t wait until later! I’m lucky to have being able to be paid to travel with new people (passengers) about Europe, Scandinavia, and Africa driving Overland Trucks and Camping Bus Tours. Now I have a severe traumatic brain injury and glad to have done what I did when I could. Now I’m staying home my country down under and exploring it instead of the world and so glad I did not wait until later .
Hurra!!! Well done!! I'v been following you for 4-5 years now and that has been moore than great . Thank you so much. Se you next time. Cheers from a finn in Sweden.❤❤❤
Damn, you inspired me.. again ! After watching your video yesterday (and the deep feel of wanting to start running in nature as well), I headed out and found the most wonderful trail just outside my flat! Went 7 km for the first time and signed up for my first little trailrun with just 13km, but I'm so excited! I do this for me personally, didn't tell anybody except of RUclips now. Thank you, Eva!
You are living the life we all want to live Eva and never change because we live vicariously through your eye's and video's I'm almost 54yrs old and I'll never get to do the thing's you do or see the thing's you see!
Eva I am sorry that happened to you in your teens but I am so proud of you for being such a strong young SOLID woman. You see things well. You know YOU.
Climbing Everest seems like too much of a circus for the brief moment spent at the summit. I'd rather see Eva go into space, which is becoming more and more possible every day.
Just a thought, Eva. You have more than a few experiences under your belt so here’s a challenge for you. While you are writing your book try looking beneath the surface and try to figure out what (spiritually) makes all of the things you have witnessed possible. So far as optimism goes think about this: Just because we haven’t done something before doesn’t mean it is impossible; all it means is that we haven’t tried the right combination of elements yet. Everest, K2 and Denali are not solo climbs. Take care.
Really glad to see that Lariette behind you. I think you really shined and did your best work on top of a horse in Montana. You were definitely a natural.
Love your videos Eva...But I think maybe you should dedicate this year you are planning to be celibate to finding your true purpose of living.... Not only living your life with Challenges but seeking your spiritual life..... True peace, happiness, contentment cannot be found in external things..you have to find yourself and experience it all from your inner self. At some point you will exhaust all the challenges and activities, so what do you fall back on? Theres nothing wrong with travelling and experiencing but also do not forget to journey within yourself and experience your inner beauty......
I too am an adventurous spirit and started living abroad at 29. I’m now 61 and have lived and worked in three countries and traveled extensively. I agree that the world is changing quickly and there are so many amazing options for the way people live their life. I love your adventurous spirit and the challenges you undertake, always wishing you the best.
Why an ultramarathon? We remember your training run around Mt Hood, you ran out of gas and just hated doing it to be competitive! If you do something, sincerely do it because you love it and not because you feel compelled to get somewhere you don’t want to be.
You are so fortunate to be of your generation. At 74 when I was 25, the idea of being single was a statement that there was something terribly wrong with me. Emphasized by the fact that all my friends were married and had at least one child. This all led me into 2 marriages that should have never been, and a 3rd that didn't stand the test of time. No matter what, marriage means a life of compromise, and eventually, you will reach the point that you just want to do what you want to do. I'm celebrating 12 years of celibacy after realizing I was done compromising. By the way, I made a conscious decision not to father children from the git-go.
It’s better but I still true to a degree. My 27 year old has said since she was about 6 that she was never getting married or having kids. The amount of people that try to change her mind is crazy
Eva, super happy for you!! I admire your heart for not doing the commercialized climbs, keeping your goals focused. When you put your book out, also have the audio version. Matthew McConaughey did that and it was great to listen to. Now I will pause....to watch an episode of The Office.
The marriage question….ugh I feel it’s such an archaic concept, especially for your age group. We all create and are responsible for our own happiness.
I never bought RUclipsr or influencer books but I would buy your book. You have something of value to share and would inspire and change millions of lives.

Best wishes for the 100K Ultra Eva, if it rains, least it'll keep you cool :) 🌦
Love the way you did your QnA! So creative and captivating!
Stay brave. Be bold. It’s worth it.
Congrats with the marathon completion. Your words in your vlogs are full of encouragement.
Loved how vilk🐕 kept it on the green light for all the doggo's 😁
As soon as the fridge door opens!!😋😂😂
Great vlogg @Eva Su Beck!!
You're an inspiration(& indeed inspired by listening to your experiences.&. adventures to date)
to generations right accross the spectrum!!(
Always true to you💪

Had to come back after realisation with this totally innocent observation!!
Your eyes are absolutely beautiful!!
🤩🤩
You do you Eva, I get so much enjoyment from watching your adventures.
Get on that book, follow your dream!
Eva, you posted this at the best time for me!!! I needed to hear your words!!!!🎉
Thanks for sharing. Congrats on finishing that run!
Hurra!!!
Go write this book girl !!!
You are living the life we all want to live Eva and never change because we live vicariously through your eye's and video's I'm almost 54yrs old and I'll never get to do the thing's you do or see the thing's you see!
Thank you for the travel with you.
Love these Q&A’s…heck…I LOVE ALL our videos! Thank you for posting for us!!
Go writer go! You can do this! I belive in you 🎉🎉🎉 wooohooo!
Eva I am sorry that happened to you in your teens but I am so proud of you for being such a strong young SOLID woman. You see things well. You know YOU.
Publish a book of pictures of your road trips and adventures with a synopsis and summary for each picture and each adventures!
Wow, what a fun constructed video! Great footage of the run. Thanks.
I'm 64. I just sailed around the world. Still lots to do when you get older 😂
That’s my dream, I am 58 now….fingers crossed I can make it happen
You don’t need encouragement to write a book, YOU’RE Eva! You are such a bad ass! I wish I could be like you!
Climbing Everest seems like too much of a circus for the brief moment spent at the summit. I'd rather see Eva go into space, which is becoming more and more possible every day.
Lovely to hear from you Eva, glad you're happy .. all that matters.
You can do things when you get older, if your health doesn't bring you down 😊😊
Regarding lonely - I get you. I treasure my solitude. I love hanging out with people I like, but I am perfectly find being alone for days on end.
Having children is not for everyone
I've only watched a handful of your videos, but really enjoy your personality and attitude. Keep being awesome! And congrats on this run.
I’m 48 and so glad I never had kids.
yeah you missed that boat.
You continue to inspire, all the best to you Eva.
Take care.
Welcome back, girl. Peace.
Missed your videos
Really glad to see that Lariette behind you. I think you really shined and did your best work on top of a horse in Montana. You were definitely a natural.
Don't hate the rain! Rain is life giving!! it's a free shower! A natural shower, embrace the rain!!
Can't believe you are finally coming to Australia! You should take some time to travel the country
Please take Vilk to the western isles of Scotland, particularly the Isle of Harris. Luskintyre beach is spectacular. You’d both love it.
I’m wondering if Eva has ever been to Scotland? Unless I missed those videos. She would love it there. Scotland is just magnificent.
Thank you for your great, personable videos.
Congratulations on your RUclips recognition!
Hello Eva, hope all is well ❤❤😊😊
I too am an adventurous spirit and started living abroad at 29.
I cannot believe that i got soooo excited, from the news of you getting a house. Looking forward to that episode . Congrats on finishing ultra 💪👍
This is a great comment and means a lot
It’s better but I still true to a degree. My 27 year old has said since she was about 6 that she was never getting married or having kids. The amount of people that try to change her mind is crazy
Eva, super happy for you!! I admire your heart for not doing the commercialized climbs, keeping your goals focused. When you put your book out, also have the audio version. Matthew McConaughey did that and it was great to listen to. Now I will pause....to watch an episode of The Office.
The marriage question….ugh I feel it’s such an archaic concept, especially for your age group. We all create and are responsible for our own happiness.
I believe God wants us to bond with the opposite sex.
Marriage is not archaic. Personal accountability is.
Being a realtor is.
Marriage is still the best way to sustain a health society. nothing else comes close. But I agree some people should not have children lol.
You have great spirit. 1.8M subscribers - that means people love you ..
lol be careful with the year of celibacy I did that but the year turned into 2 and a half and now I don't know how or if I even could go back. x
Yes celibacy brings about an energy that you don't quite want to let go
@@Jess-737sounds great! Greetings from Poland 🇵🇱 and rural living - channel 😊
I never bought RUclipsr or influencer books but I would buy your book. You have something of value to share and would inspire and change millions of lives.
I know Eva you like adventure and testing yourself. Please though never go to Mount Everest. You have nothing to prove. Please don't.
so excited for you Eva!!! your videos are so inspiring and expansive; thank you for sharing part of your beautiful, adventurous life 🌅
