  • While many campsites in both Northern US and Canada close down in early October, I find one that is not only open, but incredibly beautiful and free. Spednic Lake Provincial Park is great for camping, hiking, kayaking and scenery!

This was one of your best Slim. I wholeheartedly agree with your sense of "forest bathing" and your disdain of litter. The word "litterbug" is too cute for thoughtless and careless person. It is good to see you back camping. Peace and safe travels.

The best way to reduce the amount of littered cans is to have more places institute deposits. Any cans that do get littered get picked up for the deposit money.

@@SlimPotatohead I was wondering about those shots, and thought how much work must be involved. I didn't know about the hovercam so I was also in awe of your skills. Must be a drone I'm thinking, but how does he keep it at that exact distance, it be magical? But I'm actually reassured that it was simply your hard work. And it is much appreciated. I was most definitely not bored but enjoyed everything very much indeed. The beauty, the peace, and most welcome, the solitude. I never was a party girl, and as an old woman alone time rejuvenates me more than any other situation. Lucky fellow Slim! And thanks for taking so much trouble to share the experience with us. Slim, your “boring” videos are exactly why you’re one of my favorite RUclipsrs! I find excitement walking in a forest, hearing the birds chatter, feel the wind blowing in my hair, and the warmth of sunshine on my face. My favorite aromas are that of spruce, pine and cedar. The great outdoors is like a healing drug to the body, soul and spirit. Others enjoy theme parks, souvenir shops, crowded cities but it’s definitely not my cup of tea.
We were missing your videos and are so happy you’re feeling good again and are able to be back on the road. You had a smile on your face this whole video. It was easy to see you were back in your element.

In 83 I worked for C.C.C (california conservation Corp.) In Escondido, California. Then transfered up north to Calaveras California. That year was the only time I experience such freedom in the Forestery, building trails for campsites fighting wild fires and hiking miles into the wilderness with workmates. I miss the wilderness. At 63 there is no end of my energy. Being disabled from a compound fracture of my lower right leg ( severely damaged knee catalogue ) Glucosamine w/ condrioton sulfate really has helped me walk again without a cane. Your mellow videos are great, I've learned alot from you from your cabin rebuild, your heater connection in your trailer, water filter bucket and many others I have watched. No your not boring. thier are many youtubers out there that are super boring and others that intrigue me like you do. My wife and I are planning to venture out soon

Being from Ontario, seeing litter is no surprise. We just returned from visiting the Maritimes, I was surprised to see how clean Newfoundland was. Everywhere we went and all the trails we walked we didn't find any trash! I'm not sure why, maybe Newfoundlanders just realize what they have and respect the land more. It was nice to see and can't wait to go back and spend more time there, 3 weeks was not enough! As always fantastic video keep it up!!

Thanks, Slim. That journey was quite a treat. I love how the hover cam has added a new dimension to your videography. I've enjoyed your videos for several years now, but lately they are helping me deal with an occasional bout of homesickness for North Idaho where I lived for about 25 years. The eastern forest is not quite the same, but there are many similarities. My wife and I used to travel into BC fairly often (to places like Panorama, Banff, Kelowna, and Shuswap), and I miss having such beautiful country all around me for hundreds of miles. I love the forest we have here in Northern New Mexico, but it's not quite the same, and having two major wildfires during our first two years here has damaged our enjoyment of new property. Of course, all forests can have that problem. We were sad to learn that Okanagan Lake Resort, where we stayed a few years ago, burned down during this year's BC wildfires. I suppose we'd all best get out there and enjoy the forests while we still have them.

As a few people have suggested, I think that a lot of your regular viewers would be very interested in seeing you build out a cargo trailer or a van. Given your high level of ingenuity, such a series of videos would be both captivating and informative.
If you would be tolerant of additional roon, a Trailmanor trailer might be something to consider, they are relatively light, fold down for less wind resistance when towing, and if you used a porta-pot, and some containers for fresh water, might be capable of four season camping.

Hi Slim, if you're looking for a little different adventure, try Frontenac Provincial Park. It's just north of Kingston, Ontario. It's a backcountry park that you could hike or paddle your kayak to your campsite to. Some of the campsites are less than a kilometer from the canoe/kayak put in on Big Salmon Lake. I was just there on Sept. 25 to 29 2023. The campsites have tent platforms, boombox (outdoor toilet), picnic tables and steel bear box for your food. This was very unusual for us because backcountry usually just means a firepit. Our Smokey Oyster Canoe Club (that's what we call ourselves even though we're not a registered group) has being doing this for forty-five years. We are nine guys with our age ranging from 53 to 71. Some of the younger guys came in when some the members passed away. We always canoe trip the last week in September. You'll love the hiking here. It has some historical sites that are very interesting. Keep up with the awesome videos and stories and they are adventures because you're discovering new places and you're sharing them with a beloved group of followers.

Thanks for keeping it real, Slim. We’ve gone from tent to pop up to 30’ Travel trailer and now back to pop up! You’re very inspiring and informative. We look forward to real camping again. Keep the videos coming!

This is not boring whatsoever. I am living my dream through watching your videos and others like you. I'm a 61-year-old woman who lost her husband four years ago. We had talked about doing this before he got ill and we were so looking forward to it in our retirement. But unfortunately his illness took him way too soon so I get to watch you and dream

I wholeheartedly agree with you about littering. It is shear laziness on the part of the litterer. Hold on to whatever you need to dispose of until you find a recepticle! Glad you kicked whatever illness took you down Slim. Safe travels!

Nice use of the small drone! Wonderful views of you walking and you do not have to contend with placing a camera then going back to retrieve it. ETA: And the kayaking views by the drone were lovely, indeed. But the 360-degree rotation using the drone at the end of the video was spectacular!

Such beautiful autumn colours in the east 🙂 What a gorgeous spot... and great to see and hear your energy back in your natural environment... 🙂a follow-up to your follow up Slim... I love my Trillium Outback (2022 model) and I too had the extra weld done to my aluminum frame... but I noticed extreme tread wear on the inside of both tires... it now needs a new axle after approx 20 000 km of mostly highway travel... the Wpg shop is upgrading the new axle to 3500 lbs capacity 🙂 Our trailer is spec'd with a lightweight awning that has a manual crank for opening and when closed it is inside its own weather tight case on the roof... not boredom Slim. it is part of the Forest Bathing cleansing the mind and body for new influences from Mother Nature... that cleansing is the best adventure🙂 your video/photography demonstrates clearly that there is sooooo much to see when you slow down and take time to smell the (roses) forest 🙂 fog can be so beautiful too, but I guess kayaks do not have radar systems for navigation 😂 if Shinrin-yoku is forest bathing, I wonder if there is a term for "kayak/water-bathing" ???? You have "almost convinced me I should get a kayak too 🙂 we are all just guests in this paradise Slim, and more of us need to take that responsibility to protect and preserve it like you do with litter management... Thank You!
