Bellissima selezione, bravo B.C Kim.
will you never again grace my ears with your voice Luciano? no, my maestro? oh, for just one day.. if only I were born 10 years earlier. May God keep you in HIS arms everyday and have you sing in heaven every moment. Farewell and RIP our dear dear maestro, Luciano Pavarotti. you're greatly missed :'(
I would much rather have the score in B major, and have it sung this perfectly... this is one of the most beautiful high notes ever sung... it goes over the orchestra and chorus like it is nothing, just complete and utter perfection!!!
On opening night of this production in 1987 the huge staircase seen here swallowed the sounds of Pavarotti AND Joan Sutherland whose voice was quite big. It was her last opera at the Met. Worse, there were four columns about 60 feet tall that "rolled" around the stage for no good reason causing the audience to start hissing every time they could hear the wheels under the columns grinding away on the stage. Pavarotti sings 'di quella pira' half a step down in B major. So did Corelli in his famous live performance with Karajan and Price in Salzburg. On three separate occasions he was to sing these arias in concert, not a difficulty for a man who had sung high Fs early in his career I would thing. At each concert he bagged the "Trovatore" pairing for something else, leaving the audience disappointed. That's what you get for holding onto the C at the end for 14 seconds or so on LP! He only did that to outdo Corelli's LP of the same aria. Let's face it, "Trovatore" was not the perfect role for Pavarotti and I've always hated seeing him do it in this awful production. At the final curtain on opening night the entire, and I do mean the entire, house booed as one! We knew it would probably happen because the sets caused the voices to all go upstage. Sadly, in Row H one could barely hear Pavarotti in "Ah si ben mio..." because of the stupidity of the stage designer. Why he stood so far up was idiotic in 1988! Had he come down to the footlights it would have been terrific and who would have stopped him? The only fun moment was Sutherland's retort to the booing crowd: she leaned forward and shouted "Animals!!!" at the entire house and she meant it, too. She left the Met at the end of '87 doing the role of Leonora in "Trovatore". She sang it well, but it was unfortunately just a bit too low for her.
Es un aria alegre y triste a la vez. Las disonancias del clarinete le dan ese toque de triste destino. Desde mi punto de vista Pavarotti era un crack, pero se tomaba demasiadas licencias (como divo que fue) que a mi no me gustaban
People who disliked this want Manrico to have a big voice and a heroic sound like Caruso, Pertile, Merli and so on. Nothing wrong about that. And they don't want their stuff transposed down. Nothing wrong about that. Their only wrong was to click on a video that says: Pavarotti - Manrico. What did they expect?
You know why Pavarotti was not able to produce all dramatic repertoire for sure, i know you. His voice cracking, he choked himself true. Thats more question to LP: WHY??? People are not guilty, they know for that role is written to dramatic, spinto tenor, not for mosquitto! And that stupid concerts, like: Pavarotti and friends... Non operatic singer "songs" arias, neapolitan songs in bad way and technique, they was just made a squeak, not more! Pavarotti give a bad singers to sing opera, introduced opera like circus, making clowns to sing in opera. That we see in our days... Pavarotti, damingo ruined opera for real!
@@Bulacio_Elias de todas maneras no es una crítica. Pavarotti's voice is so very lyric! So smooth and agile and bright! I mean it's remarkable the way he takes the B natural here! You'd think it was just an F above middle C! That's how easy his top is! Although I must say that it lacks some of the drama when a lighter voice does it like this. It should be a darker sound, with more push, to be true to the role... I can tell you that there were palpable waves of love that washed from the audience to Pavarotti and back from Pavarotti to the audience. ❤
For me, he is the greatest opera singer that ever lived. I know Carusso is from another planet, but I just love Pavarotti. Be well in heaven master.
Caruso from another planet? I wish Caruso, Pavarotti, Corelli, Lauri-Volpi could stand together on a stage. A quick debunk of the Caruso myth......
