  • Someone dumped these bees on the side of the road without care.
    #savingbees #beekeeping101 #beehive #bees
We got a call from someone saying there is a plastic tub outside their small holding on the side of the road and it has bees in it. Stuart and Ethan from the Bee Sanctuary team went out to rescue the swarm. This was a simple honey bee removal and we were able to clip the queen too, which is always a bonus as we are never sure we have got her in this type of removal.
Please always use a responsible beekeeper to remove unwanted bees. All bees can be saved and there is never a need to kill them. For more information please visit our website (www.bee-sanctu...) or email stuart@bee-sanctuary.com.
At Bee Sanctuary we are on a mission to save and relocate 10,000 honey bee colonies because of the critical role they play in the ecosystem.

We have a wonderfully diverse ecosystem, but it can be quite arid at certain times of the year.

yes you do. its a really beautiful country you have, I was there last year in cape town and growing up in the UK my mum's best friend was from South Africa and she was amazing. But it was even more wonderful twenty years or so ago, without the crime. @@BeeSanctuary

Thx so much. Yet I feel you should have waited till morning. And using a hard edge plastic cup to scoop?????
But this was a kind act

Thanks for the feedback. We rescue all our bees in the evening, that way the foragers have all returned to the nest and we leave as few bees behind as possible. I'll give the hard edge plastic a try, but find the soft edge works well for uneven surfaces as it moulds as you scoop.

Would have been an A+ video without the cheesy drive in theater music. Very distracting.

Still working on our video production, as a beekeeper it's not a dominant skillset yet. Thanks for the compliment and the feedback.

@@BeeSanctuary I love the sound of the bees. I think music is appropriate at times. I truly enjoyed the video.
