I was so ready to hate on this machine for being a non-upgradeable tablet, but then I learned more about how serviceable it is! I just tested this out on one of our spare units and a bit of packaging tape works great if you don't happen to have the suction tool. Thanks for the upload!
Thank you! just replaced the dying hard drive on my x2 1012 tablet. It took about 5 minutes.
+ViatoremDiEfa Glad to know that your issue is fixed!!
Hi Jim, thanks for contacting HP Global Social Media Support!
I understand that you are experiencing an issue with the touchscreen.
I will do my best to assist you.
A malfunctioning touchscreen can be due to faulty or outdated drivers. To update the drivers, click the Start button, open Device Manager and under the "Human Interface Devices" tab there should be a device ending in "touch screen". Right click on that device and select Uninstall device, then restart your computer.

Had to RMA mine after only 11 weeks - the power button was wonky from the beginning, often requiring more than one press for the 1012 to turn on. Last week the keyboard died (touchpad still worked) together with a fatal Bios error (DXE Update on every reboot). Factory reset gave me a red screen after a "Biosrecutil stopped working" crash during the process and after that the device hard-locked. After turning it off it could no longer be turned on.
Great machine with really nasty reliability errors.
How is it working so far?
Hi, I have the same Tablet and my touch does not even show up in my device manaager. The tablet works great but has no touch which is a bummer! Any tips for me? Thanks, Jim

Any clarity on what parts I need to purchase to upgrade an Elite x2 from the dual-band wifi to the WiGig/Tri-band Wifi? I was thinking it's just the 18260 tri-band intel card but now I'm wondering if I need to buy the WiGig module as well. I can't find a definitive answer on this.

Mine won’t charge after coming back from Christmas holiday. The charger is plugged in, but all it’s doing is continuously blinking back and forth from white to orange, or the other way around. However you wanna see it. It’s been plugged in for 12 plus hours now. What’s your suggestion?
+JMC JMC Please refer to the instructions under this document to fix this issue: bit.ly/2LJipTq
@@HPSupport this would only work for me if my tablet would turn on. But I can’t even get it to turn on in order download the file the link mentions..
@@HPSupport I’m assuming the non-response I’m getting means you can’t help me further?
@@HPSupport @HP Support I have the same exact problem! 5 days ago it was only blinking red. I managed to fix it. But two days later which was yesterday It was working fine. I turned it off for 10 minutes and the charge was 80 at the time. Then I came back to use it and it wouldn't work. As @JMC JMC stated it would start blinking red and white repeatedly. I tried plugging it in to charge nothing happened. I tried the way I used previously it still won't budge. I tried pressing the power button for a whole minute in order to restart and the blinking stopped and the light went off. Then I repressed the power button and the blinking started again. What do you think the problem is? And how can it be fixed without losing data?
@@jmc224 umm since this was 2 months ago did it work for you now or? And if it did can you please tell me what you did please🥺

where is the CMOS RTC battery I need to change it ? looked everywhere in documentations and I could not find it anywhere... already replaced main battery but the clock battery CMOS cannot find it ?
Hi there, thanks for contacting HP Global Social Media Support!
I understand that you are experiencing an issue in locating the CMOS battery.
I will do my best to assist you.
Most of the newer HP notebooks such as yours do not have a CMOS battery.
The internal battery maintains the clock and BIOS settings.
Below is the link to the service manual for your model series, and as you can see... no RTC (CMOS) battery is listed and nor is there a procedure to remove and replace the RTC battery: hp.care/3SEhP9A

HP Support
In fact I get error message because the clock time get lost when main battery goes fully empty. So if no CMOS battery how can I get rid of the error message when turning Elite X2 1012 G1 off ?

Hi, it's possible install the Samsung 960 512GB NVMe Drive ?
+Thomas M. Pitt According to this document bit.ly/2m6iEHC from HP, the Elite X2 1012 does support both SATA3 and PCIe drives. So it's possible to replace the slower SATA3 drive with the super fast PCIe NVMe drive! The memory is soldered down and not up-gradable.
Thank you for the reply. (sorry for my english, I'm italian) I know that it's possible, but i don't have anderstude if is possible use 512 GB NVMe Drive (in the document is indicate that is possible only 256 GB NVME Drive)
+Thomas M. Pitt You can only use PCLe NVMe drives up to 256GB
Why only up to 256GB?
RAM tho?
+Black 'n' Blue thats what im wondering because hp parts store lists RAM as a replacement part
+xixJazmaNxix Here is the Service and Maintenance guide for that series: ( ow.ly/10jVXz ). It does not include instructions for memory replacement, so I would have to say no.
