- There was only one groove left on the carburettor's needle, but up it went, to see if it would fix a bit of a flat spot noticed previously after getting this machine running after spending a few years snoozing in a living room. there was no way we were going to stay with those modern machines, but I think we held on to our dignity - and that rear indicator! Well done, Gupta!
People don't know how lucky they are to have a mechanic 🧰 like you..
Thanks!
That is so true . I needed a crankshaft cut 020" under on the rod journals only person that would do the job was couple of states away and incidental 81 years young and still doing quality work.
Fantastic job Paul 👍🏼should make the owner very happy 😊 and a win for you which is a real bonus, good on you mate.
Thanks 👍
It goes very well indeed. You know your stuff.
Thanks!
That was very nice! Gupta almost shamed the modern bike riders with corner speed!
Nice riding ability, faster then i would go in the turns plus damp roads make me nervous!
G'day Paul, both out of your hair soon, great work mate, out of those two bikes l would pick this one you have just ridden, you'll be back on the blown up BSA soon, cheers mate, Neil 🤠.
Nice riding Paul! Proving it’s not the bike, it’s the rider. That Royal Enfield seemed to enjoy the chase, she gave you all she had!
Thanks!
Good result. The "power rangers" seemed cautious around the bends, but that was no surprise.
Seams that my x300 Kawa has to make its place free for a Bullet. So it will park beide the Hunter and a Ural outfit. Good combination.
nice end for the last weekend of January Paul nice one pubs open time for a beer thank you for the run's out this weekend we all got a fix bikes an all cheers
"Gupta" that was a indian doctor on the old tv comedy "only when i laugh".great vidios on these two.cheers
Nice sound when you opened it up , sounds like it has a bit more power than the single seater one.
Yes, I think so too.
Gupta sounds great.
Interesting. I use an open bellmouth and "1950s" silencer on my 350 and it needed the the needle on it highest and a 110 main jet, plus a 27 pilot. I did your Karcoma petrol tap modification this morning, with the tap filter out it was clearly visible the rubber seal was covering at least a third of the opening. Anyway, all screwed back together and it's flowing a good one. Vast improvement. I left the filter out. Thanks for that tip, nice one!
I especially enjoyed that ride. Spirited even before you latched onto the modern bikes.
Really liking the new camera position and the onboard comments.
Keep up the good work. 😊
Thanks 👍
Nice one Paul, or should I say 2. They both run very well now and sound just right.
Guppta’s done good. Seems the landcrab has turned into a Cortina.
Lovely !
Well done, they sound good.
Seems to work a treat! Lovely, I really need to get my hands on one.
Slightly off this subject, but good article by your Dad (I think) in Vintage Classic Motorcycle monthly magazine that has just dropped through the letter box about your brothers racing RE.
Thanks, I shall look forward to seeing that!
Another good job done, amazing what a few tweaks can do 👏👍
Thanks 👍
hi Paul i bet you wished all fixes were like that
Gupta only when I laugh
Thanks Paul.
Really sounds good.
If the needle is up as far as it will go and assuming all else is correct, maybe it's the wrong needle?
It is probably down to the pancake air filter allowing more air in than the original.
Great work Paul. Weather is getting better so lots of bikes around, probably frequenting the Owls nest. Do you go there for a cuppa?
Thanks, I have been there a few times on the Trials Cub, after muddy adventures with friends.
Does it have a wee momentary miss as you come off the throttle? It seems to go quiet then pick up again as if it's 8-stroked for a single revolution. It was doing it a lot worse on the previous ride. It would annoy me, seems to snatch the engine slightly. Maybe needle jet? Huge improvement though.
Ah - that will be down to the camera and how it buffers the sound, what you describe hearing is not there in 'real life'.
G'day Paul. Does lifting the jet needle to its highest setting indicate that a larger needle jet or main jet is required ?
Hi Wayne, possibly, but this one is running spot on now the needle is at it's highest setting so I doubt there is anything to be gained by changing any jets.
My unit construction BSA & Triumphs are ancient enough for me.😂
These two RE machines are much more recent than them, as it happens!
Lifting the kneedle seems to be a lazy way of richening the mixture. Because of that pancake filter it needs all the individual jets increased by 10%, including the main jet 😮
Six of one and half a dozen of the other. If larger jets would improve on it, I would fit them, but they are not needed, as can be seen by how the engine runs and performs. The needle jet and main jet may have already been replaced with larger ones, but I don't know because there was no need to mess with them!
result 😁,if i was running lean could it benefit from
a different main jet paul !
To be honest, it feels spot on now and it seems pretty quick for what it is.
I can't watch any more of this because it keeps making his clunking sound like I can't figure out and it's driving me nuts so
