    This is definitely a simulator. Because firstly, the SR-71 is no longer under the DOD in an official capacity. Also In no way would the US allow an SR-71 to get close to being intercepted by those platforms

      When the black bird was giving the ok to exced full throttle attempts the pilots backed down and said it could go beyond the max speed envelope but where un easy to push it that fast. So the true maximum speed is still unknown today but it’s dam fast. 💨

      Not entirely true, Mig-31 could detect and gain a lock. It's missiles we're fast enough to reach the SR-71. That is why it taken out of service in the 1980s

      @@katimboallan4605 There is only one incident over the Barents where a foxhound managed to get close enough to try a radar lock, but the SR71 accelerated away. Certainly nothing remotely similar to the video. But it doesn't matter much. The SR71 evaded more than 4,000 missiles.

      I think he's right. The SR-71 wasn't in the air when the SU and J11 were made.
      And I know he's right when he says theyd still never catch it.
      Old as it is its MUCH faster than either of those newer fighters. Nearly double their top speed if I remember correctly.
      It outran missiles faster than these fighters routinely in its day. An amazing aircraft.
      And they just made a newer version thats even better 😎

      It was actually Dulles Virginia! It resides A couple of miles away from there in the air and space Museum to this day⚠️

      That is about 2900 miles so the plane averaged 3000 mph.

      Instead of saying insane, calculate the speed. The distance is 2,850 miles. If you are correct about the 58 minute flight time, take 2850 / speed of sound (764 MPH) = MACH 3.73. So the speed wasn’t “insane”, it was Mach 3.73. I do not think you correct. The SR-71 had a top speed of Mach 3.3, so it would take a bit more than an hour.

      Yes, it was. I was stationed on Okinawa at Camp Foster very close to Kadena AFB, where the SR-71 was located. This was Aug74 to Sep75. I'd watch and hear the SR-71 many times. On Okinawa, the SR-71 was also called "The Habu" after a deadly snake on Okinawa. Semper Fi

      Our TAC site in Korea was the closest to the DMZ back in 77, the SR-71 would break the sound barrier before crossing the DMZ , you would hear a loud boom boom , anyway we were having a exercise with more than usual guys at the site, anyway this lead to talking about the North Korean's army or war stories, they were called , waking up to one of those loud boom boom about 4 in the morning frightening lol, especially after all those war stories. 😅

      Wrong, one was shot down by Russian SAM in the 60's. Pilot ejected and was caught, they eventually exchanged him for Russian spy's caught in the US. I think his name was Gary Powers.

    This engagement would never of happened because the SR71 flew at 80,000 plus feet and cruised at mach 3.5 when over foreign airspace. Only the Mig 31 or high altitude missles could possibly get a lock on and by the time they got within interception distance the SR71 was long gone. Only a mechanical failure would possibly put the aircraft at risk.

    the acceleration of a missile is much higher than the SR71 - if you dont comply youre dead , but being catched that slow is not happening

    Impressive for an old aircraft, I’d love to see its successors but we’re never shown those (probably too fast). One things for sure they certainly didn’t stop developing these aircraft in the 1960’s, it’s clear from the budgets that a lot of money has been spent to produce……something????
