Definitely! For a lot of people it’s not about what they can handle, It’s about what won’t get them in trouble. I personally use age ratings to determine whether or not I can read a book, not because I want to know if I can handle reading it, but because I don’t want to get in trouble with my parents. I’m sure I could handle reading certain 18+ books even! But my Christian parents would definitely disagree and I would rather not get the privilege of picking out my own books taken away. I stick to books that are 15+ or under and even that’s a stretch sometimes!

I think the age rating depends because some readers have been reading since they were little and might be into more mature books at 13-14 plus they gotta learn someday 🤷‍♀️

advertising icebreaker as 15+ is crazy work, it does not matter if you’re a younger teen and are more mature or whatever the hell, a book like icebreaker should remain 18+. believe me, when i was 13-14, i wouldn’t have understood. i’m 20 now and i know better
