Our 3rd straight 10+ win season too.. we only lost to Syracuse by a couple scores on the road and we didn’t have several key players for our other two losses to Kentucky and Miami and we later avenged that loss to Miami by smacking them 38-3 in the MAC Championship game.

      @ Yeah man, Miami did alright this year too. Everyone would have had even better records but a lot of MAC and especially Ohio MAC teams played at least two P4 teams and usually the better P4’s this year.. didn’t win many of them but played well in most of them. Don’t forget.. Ohio beat Iowa State last year as well and both teams were mostly the same this year if I remember right and Iowa State was kinda close to making the playoffs..
      I just truly believe Ohio deserved to finish at least in the 20-25 range.. but that ugly loss to Kentucky really held them back I guess and especially after Kentucky kinda crashed this year.. But I believe the MAC was one of the better G5’s this year or at least the most criminally underrated G5. Too much parity in the middle kept more teams back from having better records.

    I personally think that they should ban preseason polls. All it does is prop up the same teams every time with either multiple 5 stars team or last seasons results. The on field performance shows the pollsters are wrong on at least 4-5 teams every season.
    There should not be any rankings until after week 4. But you know these websites won't do that.

  • @WeLoveSheroneMoore
    @WeLoveSheroneMoore 5 дней назад +3

    When they rank, I don't think they take into account of schedule. I feel like they really only take into account of the skill they have. Of course, Michigan will be top 12 with 4 projected first rounders. Sadly, we had 5 tanked teams, 4 in the top 10 (Indiana, OSU (we beat), illinois, oregon, texas)
    If Michigan had an easier schedule (like Boise State or SMU), I believe we would have been in the race for the playoffs.
    With the chaos of this college football season, I don't think anybody could have predicted the ranking so I would say the job was not exactly terrible. They usually also rank it off the season before. If they take into account schedule a little more, it would be a lot better.

      @URRidikalus, you're saying Michigan won't be a top 12 program? They went 8-5 with a dude who barely threw for 100 yards a game this year. They beat Ohio St and Bama. If they had anyine even semi capable of throwing the ball they would have made the playoffs this year easy. Fortunately for Michigan, they have one of the best qb prospects since Trevor Lawrence coming in this year, and a top 5 prospect last year in their QB room. They will be back in the playoffs this year. And for many years to come.

    • @WeLoveSheroneMoore
      @WeLoveSheroneMoore 5 дней назад

      T college polls dont take into account schedule, for example, michigan, who played the #1, #2, future #3, and #6 teams. If they took into account schedule, we would have been ranked lower because of all the competition we had. Even if we have a qb who could throw the ball good, it wont bring the 30 points we need for texas, or make up oregon/illinois. Indiana and Washington could have been made up, but those 3 losses would have kept us out of the playoffs, most likely at number 13. We would not have been in the big10 championship with 2 losses to big10 teams. 13 would have been the highest prediction for me, being behind alabama who would be above bc of bias obv. This does not talk anything about next year. Next year our schedule is a cakewalk. OSU and Oklahoma is the only comp and the only con is having a new qb who hasnt played a down in college ball, and the 4 players proj. first round leaving. Next year I see playoffs or natty with a top3 standing in the big10. He is also the highest ever prospect in CFB history, being the first On3 recruit to be ranked with 100. I hope he adjusts quick and we can get on ghe road to oklahoma to beat them and then stay home for osu and beat them

    • @MattBuild4
      @MattBuild4 5 дней назад

      With Boise's schedules comes the requirement to win more games and play well against P5 teams. That is 1 score game with Oregon on the road - not getting blown tf out at home by 21.
      Keep in mind the margin of error for BSU is a lot tighter being in the G5 than the P4. If they lost twice they would have been ranked behind Army. Im sure youd disagree, but id argue going 13-0 or 12-1 with Boise Schedule is not that much easier than going at least 9-3 with Michigan 2025 schedule.
      Michigan's tough outs are what? - at OU, vs Ohio State, at Michigan State, at Nebraska, at USC, vs Wisconsin, vs Washington - you can lose only 3
      BSU's will be - at Notre Dame, vs Washington, at USF, vs App State, vs Fresno State, vs UNLV. - you can lose only 1

    The worst part of the poll was the very top… UGA over OSU. Looking at the rosters, there was no reason to put OSU anywhere other than #1. It hasn’t been this obvious since like 2013 Bama. UGA arguably should’ve been behind Bama and Ole Miss, hence why they got dominated by both. UGA cannot stop the run… or run themselves. They also can’t throw the ball… still.

    • @justinmorris6528

      Playing with no healthy o-lineman all season and leading the country in drops is not a predictable data point.
      Not a single person thought Georgia wasn't going to score on that last drive against Bama, where Beck threw an Int, on a first down, with only 20yrds to go and still 45 seconds left. So can't say Bama dominated Georgia without saying Georgia dominated Bama the 2nd half.
      Now Ole Miss just straight beat Georgia.
      Georgia had/has great RB's with Etienne, Frazier, & both Robinsons (who were injured). Kinda hard to run with no blocking.
      Beck led the SEC in passing TD's even with the two positions he depends on to be successful, struggling the most.
      And on top of all that, with Bobo as the OC.
      Georgia struggled against running QB's, like most teams do.
      I agree with the OSU take, but the rest is a reach.

    The AP Poll isn't Stupid. It's part of college football Culture. Tradition. It's been around since like the 1950's and it needs to stay. Even if it doesn't matter much anymore thanks to the Stupid playoff. And you shouldn't be judging a Preseason Poll to begin with. It's not like people are seeing the future. It's not even about predictions at all. It's just a Part of Tradition. If the AP Poll didn't exist, then we wouldn't even have anything to base how excited we should get about early season games.
    Like that Florida State vs. Georgia Tech game in Week 0. That game was Awesome to watch! Because; since we can't predict and see the future, we totally felt super excited watching Georgia Tech pull a Massive upset over a top 10 team. And everyone knows that is exactly how they felt At The Time. It was super fun to watch and an exciting moment in the season... And it should Always be remembered in that way. No one should look back and forget how fun that moment was just because of how the Whole season finished. And the Preseason AP Poll exist for that. And because of that we got that much excitement.
    Most people aren't researching every team's depth chart, recruiting, transfer news, and coaching changes to get an idea of how good they are going to be for the next season. You might look up your favorite team at the most. That is most fans. So when Week 0 and Week 1 comes around they turn on the tv and they look at the names in the matchups and they look beside the names of the schools for a number. Which is an AP Poll ranking. And sometimes just seeing that number builds excitement for a game that otherwise wouldn't interest the individual. The AP Poll has it's place.

    • @MattBuild4
      @MattBuild4 5 дней назад

      You think the AP mattered prior to the CFP? The AP literally removed themselves from the BCS because they were found guilty of corruption - aka why the Harris poll came into being.

      The problem is, teams that start ahead of other teams have a humongous advantage. That's my problem with it. If you start outside the top 25 or near the bottom, it is incredibly harder to move up compared to teams already unfairly ranked top 20. The poll is not very accurate early on as well, as we saw this year. It rewards traditional programs but hurts teams that maybe not a powerhouse but which have a great season. So yes, it's great if you're a fan of one of fifteen teams that always get the benefit, no matter how bad they are. For the rest of us, the preseason poll sucks

    • @SuperSirianRigel
      @SuperSirianRigel 4 дня назад

      @@GR-bn3xj Did you not read what I said about not using the preseason poll as an "end of season" prediction? That's not what it is meant for. And AP Poll is not as biased as you make it out to be. It's just voted upon by a wide variety of people (Press people specifically). Which ofc means that some of those people might not catch every game. But and yes, they might should move teams down and move teams up in a more drastic sense in the first 3 or 4 weeks to make up for a team that was placed too high or too low early on. But mostly these people Do watch a decent amount of college football. And they have expectations built upon that.
      It's just sometimes teams Don't Meet Those Expectations. Like Florida State. In theory though... Florida State Should have finished the season better. They had the talent to do so. That is Not the AP Poll's fault though. The AP Poll shouldn't get blamed for that and rightly so... The AP Poll did have Florida State outside of the poll and even the "other teams receiving votes" at the end of the season. So it's not like they are doing a terrible job. It's just that everyone keeps thinking the Preseason Poll is supposed to predict how everything turns out at the end of the season. And that is just the wrong way to look at it.

I wonder if there wasn’t a psychological effect of being undefeated and not being in a bowl game as well. As bad as they were, Utah, Ok.State, Arizona and Kansas were just as bad in terms of being overrated. I wonder if the coaching didn’t have a lot to do with some of these teams being overrated.
