Why is Gould so mesmerizing to watch play? Colleagues say that what is inside the person will come out in his music and his mannerisms. Gould was such an unearrthly sensitive human being, we get to watch some of the ecstacy that was so deep inside him here. I love it that he gave himself over totally to his art. Calling to the "deep" and bringing it to the surface so it's message can be shared with others. What an awesome performance. Cheers for Bach and Gould. Thank you laineokit

No other player ever came close to Glenn!! Thank goodness there is so much film! So sad he had to die so young at 50. ; (

Words cannot describe the talent of Gould, but what is also so amazing, one always sees him playing everything from memory. How is that even possible?

@Lerviop Bach created the art, and Gould re-interpreted it, only adding his own flourishes. Amazing.

I've heard it said that Gould used no pedal in his Bach. But this is clearly not the case. He uses here a minimum amount of pedal, and ever so judiciously. Nice!

@@이수진-k8e How about trying? It was the most rewarding experience in my life when I was practising a piece by Bach last summer.
Listening to this: ruclips.net/video/K6wuIgSSKPg/видео.html I also feel like trying. But I need another season or two. : )
Actually Bach's music was a bit boring to me, but after this...: ruclips.net/video/qt8-Td6kJnI/видео.html whole things changed.

I wish Glenn had donated his brain to science. Like Einstein he probably had an overabundance of glial cells- neuronal connections we can only dream of.

@The55555SSSSS crap! I've found the whole interview (incuding this recording) on yt 1 month ago but I've lost it! After reading your comment, I was sure to finding it in my favourites: it's not there :'( I'm totally destroyed!
Anyway, I'm pretty sure this was recorded in 1974 and restored in 2002. Please drop me an inbox if you find the whole interview (I'm sure is on youtube and I'm even a genius in tracking unknown/forgotten videos on yt, but this time I've lost!)

OK my unicorn recording I have lost is the Richard Strauss interview, anyone have that? It was on the CBC radio site for several years, but it is gone now. Plus I need the Schoenberg documentary, and anti-alea documentary (which is a riot, and so heartfelt as well) email at kkicons@gmail.com --might have something cool to trade uploaded by summer :)

Bach wrote a mean walking bass, Glenn's playing just helps to put a finger on that fact. 2:50

Glenn Gould is a cheater. He's left handed; He's also brilliant. I've decided his (strong) left hand creates part of the sound he creates in playing Bach.

@karmineka But I am far from it - a mean walkign bass - how do you dare to use word like this - This guy's emotional way of playing is far from what I had in mind no matter how perfectly he plays - Johann Sebastian Bach Cantor Leipzig - Ja Mein Karl Richter - der spielt das mit Gefuehl und vollkommen dazu - das klingt wohl in meine Ohren
