Hello Ali. I’m all for talking about bowels and poo 💩 I’m a bowel cancer survivor and I’m happy to talk about bowels and poo to anyone. We need to normalise speaking about bowel issues so that people are not embarrassed by it. Early diagnosis of bowel issues such as inflammatory bowel disease, diverticulitis and bowel cancer leads to better quality of life and higher survival rates. I also had open surgery as my innards are a mess and the surgeon had to convert to open from keyhole. Thank you, thank you, thank you for being open and spreading valuable information. If anyone reads my comment and is having bowel issues, don’t ignore them, speak to your Doctor/Nurse. Take care, Sam xxx
Thank you so much for the update. You are very dear to me. I started watching your post when your dad was ill. I was in my own grief place as my husband had just died of colon cancer. We had been together 62 years . Watching all the life happenings - well you all have a special place in my heart!! Those grown up girls surprise me just as my own family grow and change. What fun I have being part of that even though I'm around the globe. Take care and best wishes for returning health❤😊
Thank you for sharing your story. The more open we can be about these things, the less isolated and alone others will feel. Living 28 years with multiple sclerosis, I understand the challenges of autoimmune diseases. It is a strange battle when the enemy is actually yourself!
Dear Ali, you do so well explaining your health issues in such a straightforward way. You are incredibly resilient and positive, so it's sad to see you have a knock back. So glad you have a good NHS team to take care of you, I hope things are back on track very soon. Hope the pumpkin picking wasn't rained off yesterday, we have been having torrential downpours here on the south coast.
Thank you for explaining about IBD. I have IBS and was diagnosed at 19 and have suffered on and off for 33 years. You and your lovely family have brought so much joy to me watching your vlogs so relaxing and enjoyable. Watching from over here in West Sussex 👋 xx
Thank you for talking about your health, I have an ileostomy as I was diagnosed with bowel cancer during the first lockdown and also have a lot of scars as I suffered sepsis during the second lockdown. It’s good to share information so we all know that we’re not alone, hopefully sharing will help others who are struggling. If anyone reading this thinks that they have something wrong with their health, get it checked out. It maybe nothing but if it is something, the sooner they diagnose it, the sooner it can be dealt with. It could save your life, like it did mine! ❤ A big thank you to the NHS ❤ x
I know you have talked about your j pouch before, but it was really helpful to hear your explanation along with your crochet j pouch. I know it's not usual to talk about our plumbing but as Terry Pratchett said it's the commonality of man kind. We need to be able to talk about what we eat and excrete! I love the fact that you share this stuff, not just the best bits. We all love to share the best bits, but we need to keep in mind, that it's not all best bits in other people's lives, they are dealing with their own tough stuff too. I feel like I know you all so well, yet we have never met. I hope to see you in person someday. 😊
Thank you so much for explaining your j-pouch you have gone through a lot, glad you are doing well now. My son has ulcerative colitis, luckily one he was diagnosed he has been pretty well unless he has a flare up. He was diagnosed at 19 years and had got down to 73kg. He always takes longer to recover from colds, flu etc, but so lucky that the medication he takes daily pretty much takes care of it.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I have Crohn’s disease. I am 66 and it has been under control for a long time. 🙏🏻 I had surgery when my girls were little and it was like night and day. I felt so much better after surgery.
I really appreciate your openness in sharing about your ulcerative colitis and j-pouch. I got long covid last year and learning to live with a chronic illness and readjusting my expectations for my near future has been really difficult for me. Hearing you talk about your journey with a chronic illness and how it has effect your life over time and your relationship with your body has been so so helpful. What you said about loving going on long walks now because there was a time when you couldn't really resonated with me. I was doing the washing up the other day, which I don't do much these days because it's so tiring, and it occurred to me that I really miss doing the washing up regularly like I used to. Who would have thought I would miss doing the dishes 🤣
Thank you for explaining this so eloquently I’m sure you have helped a lot of people embarking on this journey. You are right our bodies are amazing things. Hoping the anti b’s kick in soon Ali x
Thank you so much Ali for giving us an insight into what you have been going through for a large part of your life. By watching vlogs I feel we get to become friends, although rarely meeting, we enjoy seeing your daily lifestyle and family, but it is important to know what can be happening behind closed doors. It’s hard to put in writing what I’m trying to say, but thank you for taking the time to explain and once again I’m going to say you are a lovely family 😊 x
I have the bump on my finger too. No idea if this is true but I was told it relates to how I hold pen/pencil and the amount of pressure I use. Thank you for sharing you day to day with us. I love the month of vlogs whenever you do them.
I was just about to comment about this, too! I also have a bump on my finger and I'm sure mine is from the pressure of writing implements. It's on my 3rd finger, which is where I happen to hold the pen/pencil, not my middle finger (this is proof, in my opinion 😁).
very gratefuly outalked about your issues. Hope you feel better soon. My brother came to my Son's wedding, I was so happy as he didn't leave the country for 14 years. He suffers too but hasn't had any ops.
Thank you for sharing your story. Sometimes you feel alone and people think they understand but dont. I dont have a j pouch, I have some symptoms of uc and some of crohn's, which they call indeterminate, medication helps some times, which I am able to adjust myself daily. My consultant is also a great asset to the NHS. Take care. I love both Chanel's, I love crochet, but definitely no knitter.
I believe the bump on your middle finger is from holding a pencil over prolonged time aka school! I am left handed and have a bump on my middle left finger. 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️. Thank you for the very informative part on the J pouch. I have had stomach issues most of my life, thankfully not as severe as yours! I get lots of stomach cramps and now heartburn. I am 70 years young. Love Lillia's nails.❤❤❤❤
I actually didn’t know that there was an internal solution for bowel issues, rather than having a stoma/bag. That is very good to know, and you explained it all so well. I do hope that your inflammation is temporary and that it clears up soon with antibiotics. ❤
Thanks Ali,,,!!! For all the explanation,,,,, Glad u have a great team,,,,,and feel better soon,,,, I am sure it helps alot of people,,,,!!! Take care, Elaine 💖💖 Fish and chips van!!!!oh how great,,,!!!
Fingers crossed your new medication is working Ali. I too had symptoms from the age of 19, but it took 11 years to diagnose UC, after having two children. I remember I used to lay on the sofa in agony as they played. Eventually put on the best medication for me when my youngest was 16, which was a life changer, even tho its made me immunosuppressed. Age 59 and been in remission for 16 years 😃 Good luck with your treatment and journey as well Dan xx
Hi Ali .. that was very interesting and will of be of infinite help for those with the same disease. I’m so happy your life was turned around by the J Pouch. Love the crochet pouch .. what an incredibly special, poignant and super cute gift from your friend.
oh, I want a fish & chips van on my street!! Sounds adorable. Thank you for explaining this in such detail. I did wonder if the pouch was an external thing, like a colostomy bag, or internal. Now it's totally clear. I've had IBS for the last 30 years, possibly more, with my ups and downs, and I know how these things affect our lives. You've been through hell... I'm glad there was a solution. Hope you get better soon!! x
Thank you for sharing all about the jpouch. It was really interesting and brave of you. I have many health issues which keep me at home with no prospect of recovery so it was wonderful to hear that you had help and are able to lead a normal life for the most part. I was bed bound for around 8 months when I had our son, before and after the birth, so I can empathize somewhat with you around Phoebe's birth. I don't know how we got through it but we all did and look at them now! Your videos are definitely a little drop of wonderful in my life, so please don't worry or apologise for the content of your videos, just keep doing what you are doing! Xxxx
Well done explaining to us all your bodily difficulties that can’t have been easy 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 but you have helped me to understand jpouch I had Diverticulitis issues 6yr ago hospitalised for 10 days & careful about certain foods not 16yrs my goodness ( big virtual hug ) ❤
I hope you feel better soon. And thanks for sharing your journey with us. And on a lighter note…..A FISH AND CHIPS TRUCK??? You guys in the UK have way cooler stuff than here in the US. 😂
Oh, Ali, this video has been amazing, i am currently in bed with a flare of crohn's disease, its so nice to know i am not the only one with this situation ❤❤
Thank you for sharing all of this, it has been really interesting! Glad to know you've managed to get in touch with the hospital. I hope you're feeling better soon x
Hi Ali, long time viewer here but ive never commented before. Thank you so much for sharing your story. I was diagnosed with UC at 16 and after many years of struggling i began Vedolizumab infusions in 2019 , im now 40 and finally found something that works for me. Your story really resonated with me and made me very emotional. I also now make the most of getting out and about. Long trips out just never used to happen for fear of needing the toilet, meals out were certainly a no go. Like yourself i also have 2 beautiful children and so even though i have at times believed by body to be useless and messed up, i realize that its also pretty amazing too. Thank you for being so honest and open and also raising awareness of this condition. ❤
Ali, that was very thoughtful and informative. Thank you for sharing with us. The more we know and understand these difficult issues, the better we can support those facing these challenges. I've had IBS-C since I was ten, so I can understand how the insidious and lengthy episodes affects our quality of life. I'm so glad the Jpouch has given you so much relief and an opportunity to have a rich and full life! Hopefully this is just a minor bump in the road, and it will settle and heal. I hope you do tell us your ulcerative colitis story..it helps both the teller and the receiver don't you think? I love this line from the Louise Penny, Inspector Gamache series, "all will be well and all will be well".
❤ very interesting, thank you for sharing. I have ulcerative colitis as well. I have an intravenous medication every two months, I’m so grateful for that. Huge change in my lifestyle as well. Thanks again 💕
I have the bump on my middle finger too. It’s on my left hand as I am left handed. I’ve always presumed it was due to the fact that I hold the pen or pencil very tight when I’m writing.
❤Ali you are a warrior. It is a wonderful life. I’ve the same crooked knot at that same joint of the same finger on my left hand…… I guess we’re somehow related. lol. Loving Vlogtober. Thanks for this info
Thank you so much for sharing about your J pouch! I found it really interesting. I hope you,re able to get things sorted out and start feeling better soon !
Just watched this video. Hope you're feeling better soon. Antibiotics are such a gift. 19 years seems to be an age where the immune system in some gets a trigger and blasts off into a world of unidentifiable pain and weird symptoms. At 19 I was sure I had MS. All the symptoms..but symptoms that came and went. After 30 years of unreal lower back pain especially hormonal times, a Dr from Poland came to my superb and had the same thing. Unreal. She recognised what was rmwrong immediateky. Specialists refused to believe females could have this. Its an autoimmune thing. The marker on HLAB27 in the immune sequence had triggered at 19. I'm thinking it was a Smallpox immunisation. I feel for you, sweet girl and hope that your drs will sort you out asap. Blessings for good health xx
Sorry you're suffering right now. I am just watching your Monday vlog and hoping that by the time you read this you'll have got some good medication xx
it's hard to tell you are struggling because of your pleasant demeanor, I think I would not be as nice as you. I hope that your will feel bright-eyed and bushy-tailed very soon. ❤ Lilia's nails look very cool! I used to have that same bump as you both - I always thought it was because I wrote a lot. .
Thank you for sharing, you did a great service by explaining your experiences. I'm a colon cancer survivor, so I relate to many of the things you have gone through.
I hope you're feeling better today. I have an autoimmune disorder too and know how you have to "adjust" your life at times. Thanks for telling us about your J pouch. I'm grateful to be living in a time when there are so many treatments that can be tried for people like us. Please tell Lillia that her nails look amazing!
Sending good wishes your way and hoping you are feeling better soon! Thanks for sharing. I’ve had colon surgery years ago and I’m happy that everything turned out well. I’m very attuned to my “inner workings” as a result. 😂 When your digestive system is upset or hurting, it seems to make you feel bad all over! Hope you feel back to your perky self soon!
I have a bump on my finger too and it's from writing with a pen I think as it's the middle finger on my left hand and that's the hand I write with. Thanks for sharing your JPouch journey, I hope it will settle down soon. I have chronic joint pain and it's not fun, I also get a bit of anxiety when I feel unwell due to past experience with autoimmune issues.
Gosh you have bravely been through a lot over the years. I bet you have given hope to lots of other sufferers with your excellent explanation. I hope you feel better real soon. X
Ah thank you for sharing this Ali. I've certainly learnt something! You have been through so much and are an inspiration. My mum has UC and I know how awful that is and any chronic illness is tough. I am sending you the very best get better soon wishes but listen to your body and don't feel you have to get back to 'normal' vlogs ...what exactly is 'normal' anyway?! I have an op this week and am quite nervous but will be rewatching your vlogs to keep me company through my recovery. Thank you for all you do xx
Hi Ali. Thank you so much for sharing and talking about bowels. It will help people I have a complex bowel condition and it can be hard to cope. So Thank you ❤
Thank you for making this video. I’m sure it will help many people who are suffering like you were. It sounds like amazing surgery to enable anyone suffering to lead a normal comfortable life! Very courageous of you Ali. Thank you xx
Thanks for sharing Ali! I admire your resilience and the fact that you definitely don’t go on about Poor Me! You and your family have a terrific attitude to life and I love you for it ❤
You are so wonderfully open and honest and that is fantastic! Thank you for talking about all of this, you will definitely be helping others by talking about it 💛
Love your volgs and just wanted to say that I really like you without bangs and longer hair. Very pretty! My son-in-law is a gastroentorologist and we all call him Dr. Poop. His 2-year old daughter's favorite book is titled "Everyone Poops!"
Giving this comment a big gold star ⭐️ That’s so brilliant! I’m so grateful that people choose gastroenterology as a specialism and I do enjoy some poo humour 😄💩
Thanks for sharing I’m always interested in how the body work and it’s flaws. I’m an ex nurse retired early due to a spinal abnormality this equals chronic pain, depression, fatigue etc. your J pouch fascinates me as I hadn’t heard of them. Love the crochet example. My Brother in law was diagnosed at 16 years of age he had a colostomy in his early twenties. I feel the ulcerative colitis, has lowered immune response so at sixty catches cold etc easily. He isn’t physically strong etc. I always felt that boiled or poached eggs saved him before and after his surgery. His go too food. So best wishes for your specialist appointment. Take care of yourself. Love julie Tasmania Australia ❤️❤️
Thank you for talking frankly and normally about your J pouch. I think these sorts of things should be talked about more. My family have bowel problems with colon cancer in the mix too. My son suffers with IBS and I probably have it and keep thinking I should be tested for food intolerance. Hope you got some antibiotics to help.
Thanks for sharing Ali. I have been meaning to research what a j pouch is, so you saved me a job. I have a good friend with crohns and she has had quite a bit of bowel removed. She is the queen of poo jokes lol. I hope the medicine helps you get back on track ❤❤
All our struggles and difficulties in life that we accept and overcome make us so much stronger so Ali you are a strong and beautiful woman inside and out, I am sure you have helped many people talking about your health journey, I have cared for many people with Colitis, and so many were relieved to have surgery to regain freedom from their condition, feel better soon. Love & hugs, Suze. ❣️🤗🥰 xxx
Hi Ali, thank you for sharing with us. I hope your feeling better soon and that the dizziness improves with the treatment. I have an autoimmune disorder too, it was interesting to hear your thoughts on health and body functionality, I feel the same way. I do think it's definitely outpoop not output from now on! 😂
Thank you so much for sharing your journey with UC and being a j poucher. It was interesting but what a horrible time you’ve had. Hope you feel better soon.
Thank you for talking about stuff that usually isn’t talked about…it’s about normalising what our bodies do and don’t do and opening up discussions about it…and that way people don’t feel like that they are the only ones that have stuff that’s happened to them. Also I have a little bump on my middle finger as well on my writing hand…I think it might be from the way you hold your pens/pencils because my sis and bro don’t have it…
This is a very informative video, and I do enjoy learning about what people go through so I can be more empathetic and helpful to them 💖 i would like to know if you follow a specific diet, or incorporate aspects of diets into your meals, since you have specific needs. Love your videos Ali! You're always full of sunshine and creativity!
Thanks so much for sharing your journey. Autoimmune diseases are dreadful. My husband had MS and was quadriplegic for over 20 years. He also had to have his sigmoid colon removed and wore a pouch for quite a few years. It was the best thing ever. Made his life so much easier and cleaner. It is great when we can speak openly about these things. Also strange as I feel I know you personally. lol. You are my favourite RUclipsr by far. So look forward to all your postings especially after I lost my husband last year. I can’t explain the feelings I get when watching you and your lovely family. Take care and I hope you get some relief soon.
Thank you for sharing ,it was so interesting , hope you feel better very soon 😊, my husband was rushed into hospital 20 yrs ago he had emergency surgery and is very lucky to be here he has diverticulitis he had too have a colostomy bag fitted but luckily he had it reversed 18 months later , he still gets some flare ups but is much better, then my son was diagnosed with crohn's disease when he was 30 and he has had a few flareups and ended up in hospital and the last time was 2 yrs ago now and now they saying he has Colitis he is now 39 and fingers crossed doing good at the moment, it is so nice you can talk about this , I googled lots of things over the years but not always had the correct information Thank you again for sharing your experiences 🤗x
Awh I’m so sorry you’ve had such a rough time in life , sounds like you’ve been on quite a journey, I’ve just started my journey , I ve to get a colonoscopy which is booked for next month ,and dreading it ,as my test results showed an issues in that department . Thank you so much for sharing this information with us it sure helps me knowing what to expect. I wish I was as positive as you as your always so funny and pleasant on your vlogs . 😍💕xx
I used to have a bump like that on my finger years ago and I think it was from pressure of writing with a pen all the time at school? Now most that I do is laptop based it seems to have gone. I didn't even notice it go... I just looked to see if I still had it when you were comparing fingers with Lilia. Wicked nails by the way Lilia!!!!
This was very interesting, thank you for sharing such personal information with us. Now when you mention having issues with your J pouch we’ll understand better. Enjoy your pumpkin picking 🎃
It’s so kind and generous of you to share your story. Also, Lilia’s nails are amazing!!! And I have a crooked pinky finger that runs in my mom’s family :)
Thank you so much Ali for talking about your experience. It can be so hard to get answers when you’re going through autoimmune health issues of every kind I think, but it’s so incredibly helpful when lovely people like you explain things so clearly. Your NHS sounds so much better than what we have in my country. I find trying to get assistance with troubling symptoms to be very hit and miss here in Australia. I hope your pouch responds well and you’re feeling better very soon xx
Also, thank you for talking about your J-Pouch. My son was diagnosed with Crohn’s 5 years ago and spent a lot of time in hospitals. He had surgery and has been in remission since. Hopefully the antibiotics do the trick and you’re feeling yourself again soon.
Ali, thanks so much for sharing your journey with us. Such a personal subject, but one many deal with and it's nice to be educated on solutions to bowel problems. Thanks again!🦋
You’ve really had a tough journey with your health problems. I’m very inspired by your upbeat nature and willingness to share in case you can help others. You have such a lovely family and I’m sure they are all supportive. Love your mum! Her explanation of the history that inspired the poem was so interesting! Can’t wait for the reading!

Living with triple sero negative myasthenia gravis. The joy of not following the symptom list as they want.
A frank and beautifully-handled explanation, Ali. Bravo to you! 💜

Xxxx
Well done explaining to us all your bodily difficulties that can’t have been easy 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
but you have helped me to understand jpouch
I had Diverticulitis issues 6yr ago hospitalised for 10 days & careful about certain foods not 16yrs my goodness ( big virtual hug )
❤
I hope you feel better soon. And thanks for sharing your journey with us. And on a lighter note…..A FISH AND CHIPS TRUCK??? You guys in the UK have way cooler stuff than here in the US. 😂
Deb VanDerMolen. The bump on your middle fingers is probably a callous from holding pens and pencils and writing a lot. I know I have one.
Oh, Ali, this video has been amazing, i am currently in bed with a flare of crohn's disease, its so nice to know i am not the only one with this situation ❤❤
Thanks for sharing your story, hope you feel better today xx
Thank you for telling us about your j pouch and how it affects your body. Isn't it amazing. So glad its given you such a brilliant quality of life 🥰
Thank you for sharing all of this, it has been really interesting!
Omg! I want a fish and chip van!!!
Hope you're feeling better soon. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful NHS ❤
Bless you miss I hope you are fit as a fiddle soon
I hope you are feeling better.. you are so brave !!!
love Lilia's nails!!!!!! 🖤
it's hard to tell you are struggling because of your pleasant demeanor, I think I would not be as nice as you. I hope that your will feel bright-eyed and bushy-tailed very soon. ❤
Lilia's nails look very cool! I used to have that same bump as you both - I always thought it was because I wrote a lot.
.
Thank you for sharing. Valuable information x
I hope you feel better soon.
Please tell Lillia that her nails look amazing!
well said, feel better soon xx
Very interesting- thank you for sharing!
I hope you got some meds today and are feeling better, Ali.
Thank you for sharing, I found it very interesting.😊
Thank you for this lovely video x
Thank you Ali, you never know who you may have helped. Hope you and your J pouch are both well soon.
Thanks for sharing. Glad you are doing well. You are so positive all of the time and inspirational in all that you do.
Hi girl get better soon, thanks for the info big hug
Thank you for explaining the JPouch to us. I hope you feel better soon!
Lilia's nails look so good! Thank you Ali for discussing the J pouch! I don't, but, I know so many who have these issues.
I’m so glad I watched. I thought when people lost part of the colon they only had the external bag. I’m glad there are other remedies long term.
I hope it settles done soon thanks for the information.🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧
Thank you
Brilliantly explained! Another great visit. Loved your mom’s reading yesterday. Her historical references were fun to hear. Happy pumpkin hunting!
Thank you for explaining your j-pouch. I do hope you're feeling better!
That was really interesting learning about a j pouch!I really was clueless.
I have the weird bump too
That is amazing. For the life of me I could not visualize a j pouch or how it would work. Thanks for sharing. I hope you feel better soon.
That was actually very interesting and I am relieved to know that you have a good team of health practitioners in your corner. Thanks, Ali!
The bump on your finger is from holding a pen or pencil for years. I have it as well.
Ah you would think so but we were born with it! Although I do love drawing, maybe I was born with natural reinforcements 😄
@@ThisLittleWonderfulLife oh wow, maybe we’re all born with it lol!
