AR Wing Crash - READ DESCRIPTION

This is some old DVR that I found from a few years ago. I was visiting a friend in South Wales and decided to take my AR 900 Wing • Sonicmodell AR Wing - ...
He told me of a place I could fly it nearby, so I went to this abandoned quarry area. Unfortunately I was unable to access the top of the cliffs, so I launched from below them.
I was getting far too much multipathing (yes you can still get multipathing if using CP antennas, especially if you're this close and flying right next to a quarry cliff face), so I decided to abandon the flight. I place the AR Wing into RTH mode and you can see in the OSD it sticks to 30 metres altitude. As I transitioned from my goggles back to LOS for landing I tried to find the AR wing in the bright sky, after removing my relatively dark goggles... I didn't find it in time and... well... the video shows what happened.
The fateful mistake I made was that my RTH altitude was set to only 30 metres, and the cliffs were taller than 30 metres from my launch position.
The GoPro was totally destroyed, after smashing directly into a rock face at almost 70mph. The AR Wing was irrepairable.
Lessons learned:
1. Always set your RTH altitude to match your surroundings.
2. 30 metres isn't that high at all haha
2. Make sure to have a way of altering your RTH altitude at the flying site, especially if you intend on flying at new locations on an ad-hoc basis.

si, 30 metros es muy poco, yo lo tengo a 70 metros, pero claro, donde vuelo no hay montañas, es zona de plazas, y por supuesto si voy a una zona de montañas habra que acordarse de modificarlo, que suba lo primero!

I have 50 metres set as default on all my builds now, but I can change my settings using my phone if I need to these days, using the SpeedyBee app 🙂

I manually switched to rth as I decided to abandon the flight.
