Everybody knows that Poirier is the best boxer. Far better than BSD. But BSD is superior one the ground and at grappling.
I feel that BSD is a man of honnor, he will try to fight him with his fists, If he can't make it, He'll go to the ground.
Only victory count, but with honnor (for BSD). That's why it's gonna be an epic 5 rounds, 3 wouldn't be enough.
I'm sure BSD will tell he admires Poirier before the fight, because it's the case.
This fight makes sense and is bonus for both (no matter the ladder) I think BSD is more than a 12 right now, maybe a 9/8, and Poirier is more like a 6/7
You can only reject so many fights until you're running out of options, one announcement and suddenly everyone showering Dustin with loves
I mean come on, Poirier has tons of fights in UFC, he’s fought almost every big name / top ranked guy over the last 5 or so years. He’s earned the right to kinda pick & choose at this point. He doesn’t “need” to fight for money the same way as he used to, he doesn’t need to take as much risk nearing the end of his career
But that’s why people are giving him credit, he’s fighting way down in the ranks when he doesn’t need to, per se. I’m sure there’s other options for Dustin
@@RiloXRi👏👏👏
This nerd that’s talking int he video is so dyslexic and sounds casual af 😂😂😂😂 Dustin is never getting finished by this bu m. This is Dustin’s easiest he’s had in. Years. Dustin is too good.
DP deserves to be in the HOF.
Its a shame we never got DP/Tony Ferguson 2015-2020 during their prime runs
Both Benoit and Dustin asked for it to be 5 rounds.
Interesting I didn't know that
I bet Benoit do not care at all about it,and just too happy to have this fight, he would have accepted 20 rounds if it was proposed.
Mc Greagor did KO Him too on the first fight
Look I’m glad he took it and I respect it but he doesn’t deserve a freaking standing ovation here…Justin fought and beat an up and comer in Rafael, Olivera fought an up and comer in Dariush, and Hooker fought an up and comer in Terrance Mckinny. Dustin’s late to the party regarding finally fighting a young hungry contender and not just having money fights
this is a very exciting fight
He don’t deserve credit he’s been sitting out picking fights they prolly forced his hand 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
He could have retired if his hand was forced and he didn't
@@LynchOnSports if he was on his last fight offer and he declined, his contract could've been extended even if he did retire.
The Diamond will be put under pressure but won't break. BSD will try to outgrapple DP early but he'll gas himself out with that & not get a finish. DP's veteran 5 round experience in wars & toughness will come through & down the stretch he'll box a gased out BSD's head off & get a TKO in the championship rounds or a Dec bc BSD is a tough son of a gun.
Charles vs. Arman couldn't be 5 rounds bc it's on 300 & i think there's going to be at least two 25min title fights on that card. This one isn't at 300.
BSD is going to win this one very easily.
I think i have it 60/40 Poirier by a decision 🇺🇲☑️
the winner here needs 1 more win after that then Title Shot 🙏🏿
I think BSD will put the pressure on Poirier for the first two rounds, and then Poirier will slowly take over.
I'm going with Poirier by 5th round TKO/Decision
Huh Dustin has amso to survuve ! 10mn against Bsd wull be already a great achivement
Yes i was suprised Poirier takes this fight ☑️
Yes this fight does make sense ☑️
Yes i was suprised this fight is not on UFC 300 ☑️
Yes i was suprised this fight is gonna be 5 rounds too ☑️
Dustin proved us wrong. I been saying Dustin wont take these new comers. I was wrong. Now hopefully colby too can take on an up and comer for once instead of older vets.
Or did he decline to many fights?
Hard to beat Porier in a dog fight. Porier for the W.
He has more left LIKE we knew. It's just, when a likeable killer like Poirier has refused veteran Dariush twice (even when he was #4 on an 8 fight win streak and possibly a quick pathway to the title for Poirier), refused any up and comers (Fiziev, Gamrot - same team or not, Arman) relentlessly and was doing so incredibly recently (even at red carpet premieres) despite having lost his last title attempt and now having been taken out by Gaethje, it was becoming ridiculous. Now that Poirier is announced, I'm rooting for him, but it was getting absurd that he wouldn't risk his spot to give an up and coming killer a chance, which is why people were getting frustrated.
Mark my words James, Dustin will dust him
The UFC deserves credit for forcing Dustin's hand.
I actually think poirier is going to to win this. I jumped at the +124 odds. I rewatched some of Benoits fights and although he is definitely a good fighter, I don't think he is on Poirier's level. Benoit throws a nice kick that can be neutralized if poirier switches his stance. Benoit is also flat footed and might not be the smartest fighter. I noticed he loves to get into those garbrandt brawls. Even though he may be tough to finish, I have seen him get rocked a few times. I think he is good, but he has never faced anyone like Poirier before. This fight kind of has Giga feel to it.
Don't just jump into a bet simply because your favorite fighter is the slight underdog. Evaluate ALL the major skills/categories, when it comes to both fighters in an MMA fight.
Yes, it's your money, so do as you want... but the probability is VERY HIGH that you will lose your money on this bet.
Anyway, at the UFC, in MMA boxing, there is no one else --- other than possibly JDM, at 170 --- who is anywhere close to Dustin.
But if you are betting, you should evaluate a fighter on all the 5 to 6 other major & distinct MMA assets: E.g.
(#1) MMA fighting prime-ness, height, range, size, power, & experience at fighting elite fighters.
(I will roughly group all these as ONE set of assets. If you have MOST of these, you have the category.)
(#2), pure stand-up
Dustin (like I just said above) is superior to likely all other current MMA fighters, when it comes to boxing skills.
(#3) wrestling
(#4) take down defense
(#5) BJJ
(#6) Muay Thai
(#6 is different from #2, because if someone is said to be an elite Muay Thai fighter, he/she has elite striking, elite elbows & knees, and elite kicking. Dustin is NOT an elite Muay Thai fighter; he is just an elite BOXER for MMA guys.)
Anyway, again, if you don't see that Dustin has only ONE major category, (#2), over BSD.... that is the reason why you will, to a very high PROBABILITY (I'd say around 80%), lose your bet on this DP-BSD fight...
@@kiabtoomlauj6249 I appreciate you looking out for me, but I crush betting on MMA and Poirier is not my favorite fighter. Also, your method of evaluation is too simple and makes me think you don't know how to analyze a fight. Also, muay thai and boxing are not the only forms of standup in MMA. You also completely ignore other factors, such as experience, experience going 5 rounds, level of competition, fight IQ, game plan, etc. In addition, just because a muay thai fighter has more tools doesnt necessarily make a fighter better at stand up. So the data you compiled to claim i have an 80% chance of losing is alarmingly flawed. It's actually astonishing how illogical you are to think Poirier has an 80% chance of losing to someone who has never even fought a ranked opponent before. You also give equal value to each category when the fight starts on the feet. Lastly, I'm actually watching these fights closely and notice even the small things like how Benoit is flat-footed. We will see though. I hope you remember this comment when I win my bet. At least im confident enough to put my money where my mouth is. I'd love to see your bet receipt if you are that confident Poirier is going to lose the fight.
again james, fan of the channel but.. when did dana say that charles vs arman is a 3 round fight? he didn’t and it’s obviously going to be on the main card with what he said to be a number one contender fight where the winner gets a title shot. just because he didn’t announce it as a 5 round fight doesn’t mean it won’t be, also if this card is as much of a dud as speculated with 299 being so huge and taking a lot of big fights away, how could you assume this is a 3 round fight? there are no other tittles on the line besides leon and a more than limited amount of 5 round fights to co main or feature on 300 over this one.
@rickylake12 - Show me where they say Arman-Charles is 5 rounds (like they did with Poirier-BSD) otherwise you're just complaining for no reason
I don’t know who I am picking yet but I probably lean Poirier late stoppage by submission or possibly a decision. People who aren’t giving the diamond a chance are casuals with severe recency bias because one of the things I always pay attention to your breakdowns is the level of competition which obviously favors the diamond. I’m not going to lie tho that after watching BSD’s debut in the ufc which was arguably one of the worst non stoppages for a continuous round and a half or so, I did not see Benoit coming back the way he did after that loss and absolutely smash his opposition so definitely I can see either guy coming out victorious but I also think Poirier is a savvy veteran who has to see several paths to victory against this reborn killing machine BSD. I agree that it’s going to be a lot closer than many people are saying and it’s important to note that in his best win BSD vs Moises, Benoit didn’t just win but clearly made Thiago quit but I just don’t see him doing the same to the diamond who is by far a superior striker to Thiago or anyone else BSD has faced in the ufc thus far. I also think that if Poirier loses, he may just retire bc he seems to have his life together and by taking a dangerous fight against a scary up and comer, Dustin is obviously not just showing up for a paycheck bc as you noted there are at least a few much easier fights for Poirier at lightweight. But I also do believe that just like the ufc, Dustin wants to test himself against one of the if not the top prospects in the division to see whether or not he still has one last run at a title in him. One thing I know for sure, win or lose the diamond is going to be an absolute class act and I don’t anticipate him overstaying his Father Time welcome in the sport so don’t be shocked if he loses and calls it a career. In my opinion not everyone can be an undisputed champ like khabib or Islam but I have no doubt that despite his number of losses approaching double digits, Dustin Poirier is a future hall of famer even if he does lose his next bout and retires.
It is weird that this one is 5 and Arman vs Charles is 3. The logic is certainly missing here but I do think that Poirier possibly has a better relationship with the ufc than either Arman or Charles and if I had to guess he was the one wanting it to be 5 rounds bc I bet he sees a young hungry killer in BSD who hasn’t yet fought a 5 round fight in the ufc so Dustin has to think that 5 round experience he has will be a factor in this fight even if we haven’t necessarily witnessed BSD have any cardio issues but something tells me Poirier was instrumental in this bout being 5 rounds also because BSD does throw a lot of power early and often and Poirier probably thinks if he outlasted Chandler (not saying they are similar in fight style) who is arguably a harder puncher with one shot KO power, he probably feels that BSD will make more mistakes throughout 5 rounds so this is a total conjecture but I do feel that Poirier sees a dangerous opponent who’s level of danger probably drops off if it does get into later rounds.
Perhaps there are 2-3 title fights on 300 and they don’t want another 5 rounder. Only 1 title on 299
Dana white said they insisted it was 5 rounds.. so that’s why. Also I’m pretty sure that was Dustin’s call. He’s a true octagon warrrior. Always tryna give us fans a war.
I watched the bsd vs Moises fight last night.. and my thoughts are he’s like a taller Michael chandler who slowed down and more basic.. I also seen Moises countering him.. I really like Dustin’s chances here. If Dustin’s age isn’t a factor here he’s really got a chance. I know I’m gonna get a lot of hate for that but I think bsd is not as good as chandler but he’s chandler if he used his “iq” as ppl say.
Terrible match up for Dustin but still better than fighting Arman or Gamrot who will grapple all day.
Benoit skills are really similar to Islam as both are southpaw, both have a judo grappling base, left kick to the body and the temple & sound striking...the only place he lacks is Islam's underrated Muay Thai clench that leads to knees or Judo throws. Dustin is arguably the best boxer in UFC but he has a terrible guard, almost impotent. Michael Chandler took him down with such facility and it wasn't for Chandler's low-IQ he would've won that fight based solely on grappling.
All that said, going to Frevola to Dustin might too much of a leap for Benoit. Benoit will only win this if he has proper grappling cardio because his hands will not get it done.
This division is top heavy but not necessarily deep.
I think there is a good chance Dustin gets this by late round TKO. Otherwise I could see a world where st Denis KO's Dustin early.
Dustin is gonna get destroyed 😮
Does this mean Justin got screwed out if his title shot ???
Poirier point to prove. Alliteration 👍 Bisping eat your heart out
5 rounder but it won't make it there hopefully
Dustin loses this fight and I think he’s on his way out.
I don’t think Poirier deserves “credit” for taking this fight. This is the fight he should be takin; he doesn’t deserve a top 5 match up, he needs to fight contenders to defend his spot.
Who has all the upside in this fight? And also do you consider Poirier could have just retired?
@@LynchOnSportsI’m just saying that if DP wants to keep his place in the rankings, or make another title push (which he said he did in his last interview with Ariel), this is exactly the type of fight he needs to take. When you say he deserves credit, you’re implying that he’s taking a risk he doesn’t need to take. If he still has title aspirations, this is a necessary risk.
He could always retire, or hold out for fun Nate Diaz/Conor fights that have no title implications.
@pineapplesauce9403 - I'm implying Poirier has everything to lose here
@@LynchOnSportsno he doesn’t. He only has a title shot to loose here, and that wouldn’t change no matter who he fights. If he looses this fight he can still have a big money fight vs Nate/conor after. Honestly, this is the only fight (other than any other contender in the same position as Benoit) that gives him anything to gain in terms of title contention.
@pineapplesauce9403 - Poirier is the bigger name here, yes he does
Also the guy he lost to was completely juiced but Abu Dhabi does not retroactively change fight results, so technically he has no losses
