Hi MJ! Sometimes when people meet over 40 it isn’t financially advantageous to marry. For some it is and for some it isn’t! Comedian Joy Behar said she married her long time boyfriend because she wants to pass on assets to him and not have him pay taxes on it. So it depends. I’m at a point in my life that I have no idea what would be financially advantageous. I’m not worried about it right now. Time will tell. I don’t rush into relationships and especially not marriage. If you are not married though you need to be careful. When the other person passes your world can be turned upside down if they own the house you are living in! So make sure you know what you are signing on for! I’ve seen when a man passes and a woman has to suddenly move out of his house because of the will. So you need to plan well!
