Thanks, Neal! I hadn't been on this one before. I'm trying to get back to scouting out new (to me) trails!

Thanks for watching! I've still got several more trails that I've been meaning to map...

It wasn't half-bad. When are you headed back to the area?

I was curious about the trail closure, so I looked up the coordinates you gave on Gaia, then compared the location to the NFS interactive map. Both maps show the trail beyond that point of 112 Shaws Fork trail being closed to motorized vehicles. I can somewhat understand some of the trail closures, as I’ve seen where too many knuckleheads go off trail and tear stuff up. But I do get frustrated with trails that are basically only open during fall hunting season.

Yeah, I didn't check the MVUM ahead of time. After I got back from the trip, I pulled it up and saw the closure. I primarily use OnX, and my concerns about them not having current info because they don't pull from the MVUM have thus far gone unaddressed by them.

Pretty great shape for the wettest December in VA history. Question: are there some solid trails in GW or Jefferson that don’t have super high pinstriping risk? I’ve got a RAM 1500. Not worried about the traction, just the width.

Honestly, as a Powerwagon owner who looks for the gnarlier tracks, most of the easier forest roads don’t have a large risk of pinstripes or body damage but once you get to the harder tracks there is no getting away from the pinstripes and sometimes minor body damage especially if you are looking to do the harder optional lines.

Check out The video before this one. The one from Sugar Tree. That one would have pretty much zero chance of pinstriping. It was nice and wide.
