To all who complain about the original ornamentation: you are forgetting that this is actually what happened in the original interpretations. Yende is a star because her voice is instantly recognizable, her production seems effortless and she is willing to be an original. I also found her musicianship impeccable, there Is emotional connection to every note and her phrasing is great. I actually really respect this interpretation.
Thank you for being informational. I came here because I love her voice but didn't know she was a special kind in her interpretation. I'm not an expert of course, but her voice is sooo good.
What a superb performance. I disagree with much of the criticism. I believe she has her own style and has managed to remain humble in the midst of stardom. She is a gift to the world and we should be grateful.
Regardless of the event....how did she sing just "vien diletto", without "o rendetemi....qui la voce"....This sounds as if she sang "ah bello a me ritorna" without "casta diva". Otherwise, Yende has a wonderful round voice, nice coloratura and clean attacks; her singing sounds effortless. I appreciate the idea of new ornaments; it's belcanto, it should be different; I am not sure if it's 100% in style, it might be a bit too much especially those staccati, but it's an unique approach. The only problem I find it's the fact that the voice thins at the bottom; low register needs more work; but most singers don't use the low register because they are afraid to lose the high notes. It's still a beautiful performance and she's got a great potential....just needs more refinement.
Barbara, I do not agree with you, for my taste way to much ornamentation i the second verse. This is not Sonnambula where you are yoyfull, so you can get away with lots of ornamentations expressing happiness, this is a madscene , where she is sad and lost, it demands an entirely different approach !Also, you have to perform the score, so, if the composer wrote low notes, you have to perform them , wether you like it or not ! Personally, I like this singer, unfortunately I do not hear artistic progress in the way she sings this aria compared with 2 years ago.
I adore her... but her ornamentation/.............. What the heck???!!! Is she trying to destroy herself? I liked the first half better without the creepy ornamentation though..... whatever I still love her!
She was clearly very nervous here so the voice is shaky. That is the reason why one most rehears like crazy! She also has a problem with resonance, she most train her voice to be effortlessly resonant and big, her voice is very small.
I worry about the vein you can popping in her neck. That is almost always a sign of improper or shallow breath support. I think she has everything but real thickness and heft in her voice, which may be related. She is lovely, and its a warm, evenly produced sound, but she doesn't sing with every ounce of her being, as all the greatest singers do. And I think you only get real individuality when you are 100 percent engaged. tilt. I notice that she doesn't have much dimension in her dynamics either.
David Perkins I was noticing that too...as a Speech-Language Pathologist with a background in voice disorders and classical singing I was informally assessing her. She sounds effortless but perhaps there is excess tension in the laryngeal musculature due to a need for more breath support.
To suggest that she is not singing with every ounce of her being is crazy and not the performance I just watched. She was just outstanding in my opinion and ranks with any of the best.
I really hate the way of commenting like "where is his video". You don't have to be a good chef, but I bet all of you judges every single restaurants you've ever tried. This is similar, there are many famous critics who can't sing well (or even can't sing), but what they have is the musical taste to evaluate/appreciate a performance. And I have to be in favour of Bosie Wilder. She's sometimes off pitched (1:40, 2:44, 3:07, 3:20) , ridiculous ornamentations, fake trills (2:44, 3:30), unprecise descending chromatic scale (4:10), diction (1:15 pianGE, not pianDE ; 1:25 amoRE not amoNE, etc.). And I'm sure I'm not good enough to point out more flaws?
The person with real music ear wouldn't say what you've said. However the hate part is your baby to nurse, I personally think you're bitter. Under what conditions I don't know. t h, I am with you.
Beautiful voice, ridiculous ornamentation, sloppy coloratura in the style of Caballe, but nice high notes similar to Sutherland's in her early days. Promising if she learns the proper style of Donizetti and Bellini and stops "throwing in the kitchen sink" ornamentation just because she can.
I don't think her top notes sound thin at all, they sound like they have a lot of color and body... but also, of course, not as powerful and thick as Sutherland's.

don't know what you're talking about or what you mean but you sound right.
Thank you for being informational. I came here because I love her voice but didn't know she was a special kind in her interpretation. I'm not an expert of course, but her voice is sooo good.
I do not see anyone complaining. That voice is too good and she is an impeccable artist.
Instantly recognizable? Maybe by her mother.
Bel canto in assoluto! Una voce sublime
What a superb performance. I disagree with much of the criticism. I believe she has her own style and has managed to remain humble in the midst of stardom. She is a gift to the world and we should be grateful.
Beautiful outstanding performance and as good as I have heard from anyone.

great voice i love her... yet she should work on her cadenza
cadenza"... WHAT IS THAT
E la voce dov'è?
Con Elvira, con Bellini c'entra assai poco. Carina, precisa, aggraziata ma per Auber, Bizet, Gounod....
I adore her... but her ornamentation/.............. What the heck???!!! Is she trying to destroy herself? I liked the first half better without the creepy ornamentation though..... whatever I still love her!
She's already destroying her voice. It won't last .
She was clearly very nervous here so the voice is shaky. That is the reason why one most rehears like crazy! She also has a problem with resonance, she most train her voice to be effortlessly resonant and big, her voice is very small.
I disagree with you 100%. Actually the opposite of what you are saying is true. Sour grapes.
Grande crescita di una artista
Seems like you are a very small person. Small voice? That’s idiotic.
I worry about the vein you can popping in her neck. That is almost always a sign of improper or shallow breath support. David Perkins, have you been drinking heavily from the blog of This is Opera?
To suggest that she is not singing with every ounce of her being is crazy and not the performance I just watched. She was just outstanding in my opinion and ranks with any of the best.
Lots of intonation problems here.
When are u uploading your video?
She has never sung in tune, her rhythm and technique are very sloppy and she has no relationship with the text.

Irrelevant.

Фальшивит с первых нот

Top notes are nothing like Sutherland's. Get your hearing checked.
Sutherland had tons on the top notes, not like this one. Her high notes are ringing, but very thin.
I don't think her top notes sound thin at all, they sound like they have a lot of color and body... but also, of course, not as powerful and thick as Sutherland's.
Her high notes are nothing like Sutherland. Her voice will never match Sutherland's
Seems ok for today's standards, but far from Bellini bel canto line. Beautiful voice, though, but something is missing hear.
Non mi piace, non è Bellini questo
