Not only that, but it's legendary status was achieved using only the most basic game mechanics. All they did was create the maps, inhabitants and their behaviors, sounds, throw in a few instances and that was it. Not saying it's easy creating something like Outlast but it sure is basic compared to many other games.
Nah make 2 movies or if they do make a miniseries they need 2 seasons or alternating episodes between Miles and Waylon since Outlast and Whistleblower happen at the exact same time
I think Grave Encounter is the closer thing we got of an Outlast movie. When the paranormal crew arrived in an abandoned mount massive asylum be like...
@@Cindikitten it's gonna be 3 acts of 4 episodes Act 1 follows the people who work at the asylum and corporation and the shady dealings Act 2 is the massacre Act 3 is split between the final survivor and the Reporter
Imagine them turning the real life Mount Massive into a horror attraction based on Outlast and they give you cameras to see in the dark while you explore mount massive with patients chasing and screaming at you.
Very cool video, someone must have gone to a lot of trouble to film it. Always wondered what the inside of the towers looked like either in-game or in real life. At 2:37 I wanted the cameraman to turn around to show us the room. I can only imagine how unpleasant it would be to be in that building at night.
If you even pay me 1billion dollars i still wouldn't go to this place not after seeing all that horror in the game! I still get nightmares from this game!
Imagine, in real life. You're a detective journalist chilling in your bed when suddenly, you receive an email from someone anonymous saying to expose all of [__], you get there but you didn't expect the place to be so large. Outlast irl starts.

Remember when architects were actually trying to build beautiful buildings to be proud of instead of cheap blocky skyscrapers that look like comie blocks?
It's actually called the Richardson Olmstead compound, it was a psychiatric hospital in the 1800s that was eventually abandoned and is now considered a national landmark in the US, it's a museum of sorts now, not unlike many other historic locations around the country. The design for the outside of mount massive asylum in outlast was inspired by it.
It used to be a hospital, where there were insane people, which this is how "outlast" a game of horror was born, so the devs (red battels) took inspiration of this place and making it on a horror game.
honestly when I finished outlast wistelblower when it was morning I felt sad because we had won and just thinking about all those moments spent in the asylum really makes the game great 👍🥲
I can't imagine escaping this area
u can tho..in fact very easily..if u dont follow that shitty priest and break outta the window instead of waiting for lifts

That’s terrifying, imagine going there and the patients break free, your going to end up like miles and Waylon, then again Waylon escaped
not terrifying for this guy, he knows the Asylum better than the developers at this point
@@heffalump111 lmao your right
I mean Waylon was an employee who didn't get thrown around to different floors by Chris and convenient explosions, Miles was just unlucky as hell
In the end waylon died too

With the building being real, someone should film a miniseries of Outlast

This building is called "Richardson Olmsted complex" and is indeed a psychiatric hospital. But it has already closed and is just a museum from now on

No Murkoff to re open this one huh?

It actually became a hotel recently, but only some parts of the asylum have been repaired.
What if you end up like miles 😬
Where is this place located and how would you get in.
the knowledge of knowing it technically exists is haunting
So i assume the game wasn't just fiction, it was reality..
Mk ultra was real, this place was a mental hospital long ago
